iPhone 4S Unboxing & Quick Thoughts

My Galaxy's Super AMOLED screen is second to iPhone's Retina display. Such great colors and deep blacks. Makes the 800:1 contrast ratio look rubbish compared to the 50,000:1 of the Galaxy.

Case-Mate FTW! I use only Case Mate brand for my Galaxy S 2 - I have 2 cases from Case Mate: Barely There aluminium and Tough along with screen protector which is really invisible!

Damn, it's so sexy -the white iPhone 4s! I wish it have bigger screen - ideally 4-4.3" The screen is so bright and crisp, why is it so small?! What a waste!

It's not just iPhone 4s that runs so smooth. After I installed iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 it feels like a new phone.

@mclfurryy25 Apple confused us by calling the second iPhone the "iPhone 3G," so people sometimes (incorrectly) call the first iPhone the "iPhone 2G." The second generation iPhone was called the "iPhone 3G," not because it was the third "gen" iPhone, but because it had the proprietary 3G cellular data service. Nobody knows what the next iPhone will be called; Apple might call it the "iPhone Pastrami Sandwich" for all we know. But you said it yourself, the next iPhone is the 6th iPhone....

@mclfurryy25 Any other way you cut it, "iPhone 5" is wrong anyway. If we aren't considering the 4S to be a "generation" in itself, we can't call the 3GS one either, in which case only 3 "generations" have been released to date:

1) iPhone

2) iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS

3) iPhone 4/iPhone 4S

And that obviously isn't correct... All that said, if people like you keep calling it the "iPhone 5," Apple might just cave and call it that, but that would just be a self-fulfilling prediction, however.

@drbuk I heard you reference the next iPhone as the iPhone 5. You are not the only one I have heard say this. Since the next iPhone will be Apple's 6th iPhone, wouldn't it make sense to call it the iPhone 6? However, no one really knows what it will be called. Just a thought.

iOS 5 made my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 feel completely new. I never used the calendar features before iCloud; not now. The wireless syncing and pushing is so useful. In fact, something that I wasn't expecting was how much I use iMessage. Free texts ftw ;)

Got iOS 5 on my 3GS and I'm loving it. Of course, I'll love it more when I'm using my 4S with it, still waiting for my preorder. Adrian I was wondering, about the MicroShell case you got, how much thickness and weight does it add to the phone? Would you recommend it?

i am still using iphone 3g...it pisses me off every once in a while but what do you expect from a 4 year old phone...it even fell in a bucket of water and was completely submerged...it was dead for like 3 months...i was gonna upgrade to iphone 5 but we all know what happened...plus i am bored with ios...could use some ui enhancements...waiting for nokia wp7 phones to come out
