Where was Jaedong's sense here? He SAW the early goons, he SAW the mass gateways. Why didn't he upgrade ling speed there? JD was so very greedy to skip ling speed in the first place.

I can't help but agree. The lings smashed the goons near the end there. Imagine them with the speed, even if the timing was later than usual. Not to mention, he would have the money to build up hydras in the background if he just went lings.

in this case Movie used his knowledge on the standard PvZ build and the Zerg's counters to it, therefore created a build that strikes exactly at the Zerg's moments of weakness. he counted on Jaedong to use the standard 5 hatch build, which he infact did, and just executed perfectly. also his dragoon micro was almost JangBi esque, which is pretty damn good!

oh and this sort of thing happened to Jaedong in the last OSL finals, with the original Fantasy build, also happened to Flash and Bisu...

this sort of thing is bound to happen to all the S class players, Jaedong, Flash, Bisu, etc, and indeed is happening. the S class players obviously preffer their own standard game, seeing as they're the best at it. however all of their opponements study those builds and their executions perfectly, so 1 creative enough(no matter what race) can design the perfect counter build and hope that his execution will be at least decent to overcome said S class player.

this build is impossible to win against if you don't scout it. cuz the typical zerg build at that stage of the game is preparing for corsair (speedlots leg will be scouted in time by sacrificing first overlord). not mass range upgraded goons because it is SO rare.

this builds timing has to be PERFECT though. a second too late then the zerg will start massing up hydras or mutas.

This is the counter for 5 hatch hydra that Protoss has been scrambling for. Now Zerg players are going to have to build more defense than 6 lings and 4 scourge when going for the 5 hatch build.

This build is actually quite good against 5 hatch hydra - keep in mind JD had neither ling speed nor hydra speed/range (at the beginning). Of course, perfect micro is required. Awesome strat by Movie.

this build has already been used by others -_- but i guess hasn't been quite popularized until now. i got owned by it. it sucks. BOOM out of nowhere after starting your lurker tech and have some hydras out to defend gainst corsairs you have mass goons attacking you. mass goons own lings. mass goons basically owns almost anything.

I think that Jaedong is so used to conventional 'toss builds that he was working up to mutas out of habit - his hydras were in back to deny the reaver harass, and that allowed the goons to gain the greater numbers in the first clashes and then was forced to send small armies against that massive line of dragoons. He did do a beautiful pincer attack with zerglings, but then came the archons and the ling-roast started.

Movie learned Jaedong's build - the well hidden gamble of skipping speedlings.

Well, DUH! Obviously, he's an up and coming player and you can't expect him to just win against JD straight up.
