  • There was no such thing as computers back in 1942...

  • @thehalorocks22 "COMPUTER GAME"

  • PS4

  • ?????????????????????????????????

  • Xbox

  • Could always get it appraised

  • Does it still work?!?

  • I wouldn't say electronic, more like electro-mechanical. The mechanism seems to consist entirely of switches, lights, and wires, with hardly a tube in sight.

  • does it work

  • Hey Mike, are you planning to be the next Santa Claus?

  • Comment removed

  • Lincoln Logs LoL

  • Playstation 4

  • @leoniscoolful So, you wish it were the fourth PlayStation, huh? This is probably just as Mike said it is. Some people are not honest, but some are!

  • @MrApartment3 Dude, i was joking

  • @leoniscoolful xbox 720 ha ha ha ha

  • @aleksa0808 to advanced

  • It looks like a Flux Capacitor to me! lol

  • fake and gay!!!!!

  • @RWJsAlcoholicDad trololol

  • stop talk, play and make score ;D

  • but will it blend?

  • But the question remains... Will it run Crysis?

  • That's sick! :)

  • Y U NO TURN ON DEVICE!!!!!

  • Play the f*cking game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It definitly isn't the original, because that was monster sized, but it could be the model 2 you talked about.

  • I suppose it doesn't work now?

  • omg, just realized that it's the same mike mozart that made the stop sopa-video!

  • i hav 1

  • @222deviot jk

  • @222deviot lol

  • NIMROD was a giant machine, but it's definitely a remake. This looks like it uses similar transistors, etc, that NIMROD had using modern equivalents, so it's probably just to show off a part of the evolution of gaming. Google NIMROD and see the actual machine, along with the history, and an awesome sound file from a reporter of the time freaking out over it LOL

I love video games and their history, so this would definitely be a piece that any hardcore game collector would drool over.

  • I used to play that game, then i took an arrow to the knee.

  • OLD GAMES FTW WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!

  • 40 people thought that the graphics sucked.

  • its fake because im a troll

  • Does it still work? Would be great if it did to see a video of it running.

  • coexisting with Josephine Joseph

  • The graphics are better than Modern Warfare 3.

  • Gorgeous transparent blue perspex they had back in the 40s :P

  • can play crysis in 1080p

  • at least this has better physics and graphics than MW3

  • the first video game has never been played or ever will be as it is chuck Norris and no one plays chuck Norris.

  • PLAY IT!!!!!

  • The first game ever was in 1947 (sorry I'm italian)

  • @97Klaudietto the console was originally made in 1941, improved in 1942 and the manual was published 1948. blah blah blah long story short. learn how to listen.

  • not the best opening quote "this was bought from a dealer"

  • Take it the pawn stars guys and hav them call an expert and you will know wat it is and you will be on tv.

    so its kinda a win,win :)

  • @MrSodaducky That's just a scripted tv show, antiques roadshow is the real deal, and it's not scripted. You can tell, because it's boring!

  • ...skyrims still better

  • @METALownsRAP1 you know your comparing very differen games this is not a video game its a computer game from almost 50 years ago and the games are not simalar at all

  • The power cord is not from 1942. The silk screen lettering does not look like it is from 1942 either. This is not an original device.

  • @higgme1ster Oh? and how do you know? did you make it?

  • @higgme1ster refurb?

  • @higgme1ster it could have been damaged and they had it restored

  • @higgme1ster in may have been original components on the in side and some one tried to adapted the power cord so they could use or the power cord broke a needed replacing.the same applies to the lettering as years pass the letters become faded and need to be re printed

  • @higgme1ster Plus, what about the clear plastic? I don't think that existed in the 1940's, unless I'm wrong.

  • @Desmaad Maybe it's a replica built from the original plans.

  • @higgme1ster wow ur good

  • @higgme1ster yet there was a oringal device pretty point less maching but stiil amazing

  • @higgme1ster They could've just remade it years later... you can do that with ANYTHING, you know....

  • @higgme1ster could it be a recreation of an older device?

  • @higgme1ster he didnt say it the original, he said that it was a game from 1942

  • @higgme1ster thats because it is a replica...he even says so...

  • nim is a game you play when you get the last proton wins out of ten

  • the e is backwords.. in men backwords?

  • Fuck that game It's snipe shots are SOOOOO delayed!

  • You should get PBS' "History Detectives" on that.

  • it is the 1st game but not the 1st video game

  • @Penguinspark it does computations, so it does count as a computer game

  • @ruki25 i said video

  • If it is in fact the original that's a hell of a find!

  • the graphics suck!

  • @blingdog15 graphics dont make a game fun look at pong for example its very addictive and its just squares and rectangles

  • are you gonna play it...

  • can you please test it and make a video of it. It look cool

  • This is still the 1st of it's kind as far as we know. I remember when you first showed this live (after some gentle persuasion :P). This is a huge part of our history. As computer gaming is growing year by year so is the Nims legacy. Thanks for making a video of it because I told my friends about it and they were desperate to see it.

  • probably pretty boring. haha jk pretty cool find ... it would have been nice to see it work!!!

  • so you take a whole video talking about the damn thing and you didnt even bother playing it. are you retarded

  • These were created as replicas for classes taught at our school(M.I.T) in computer mechanics. It was before my time but my father was around for it. They stopped making them and they were sold off. If you get lucky you can see the original when it is on loan from the family at M.I.T. It still works too!

  • I think I can help you out with this. This is not the original game. It is a replica(it is still pretty old and valuable). The original is owned by Redheffers grandchildren and is still brought to the university for show. The original has a red back on it.

  • It looks alot like a Gamecube

  • love the 1080p graphics.

  • thumbs up 4 the lincon logs in the backround! :3

  • Not a computer. An electronic game.

  • @waddlerobloxxxx just what I was thinking... no logic involved with this so it would not be a computer... modified adding machine game would be more accurate. still cool though. Best way of figuring out if its real would be to track lineage. find out who owned the estate then if they have relatives that could link the estate owner to mit you would have a solid case. also you should be able to date the relays on the inside. It could be a student reproduction project as late as the 60s though.

  • The colossus was built to pwn this thing.

  • Ann Frank? Not even. Hitler played this, then commited suicide cause he kept getting pwnd by newbs online. Poor bastard couldn't even hit prestige lvl1.

  • Watch someone eventually turn it on and it has PS3 graphics. That would be funny if wasn't a Chinese board game, but NIM stood for something like Ninjas in Mexico.

  • @TheFatty2497 PS3 sucks ball for graphics.

  • @AsianPerson3 When shared with XBOX and PC but alone, the PS3 DESTROYS XBOXs graphics, PC destroys all.

  • @sonicgreen323 This is true. Xbox is the biggest POS of all. I can't even believe people buy them.

  • @AsianPerson3 A lot of people think its the best gaming console, I don't see how!

  • PLAY IT!

  • cool

  • Does it still work?

  • I can't picture Anne Frank playing this.

  • Stop telling him to turn it on morons, you don't turn on a 69 year old machine!

  • turn it on bitch.

  • No, sorry to break it to you, but that's not the NIM machine, its actually a Frosted Flakes box. Dumbass.

  • Crysis II ready.....

  • still better than black ops

  • @TheLaughingMan0603

    Have you played it?

  • @TheLaughingMan0603 and why do you not like blacks ops? is it because a noob only can qs?

  • WOW,You have an interesting job !!

  • dumbasss didnt turn it one

  • @JumpOffACliff100

Nah, he should have turned it two...

  • why is it like mozart, hes dead

  • It's amazing what they did at those times, what I'm wondering is in all of the depression and destruction how was this guy engineering a video game? Where did he get the money?

  • enough bla bla we want gameplay xD

  • id rather pay 16 million pounds for nim than buy cod

  • @TheCollinsd1 You're not the only one.

  • FRAUD.

Blue PLASTIC cover did not exist in 1948

Paper pages from 1948 looks OXIDATED more yellow !

The spray paint is black-mat was not existing in 1948

switches are authentic from an old radio.

    Red Lights are from 1960s

  • @zloben9000 : can it be coming from someone who sought to restore this machine ? Paper can be reprinted. The blue cover may have been added much later as a protection against dust... I bet that the original had no cover. The original bulbs might have burned and replaced... once or several times...

  • @zloben9000 ....No?

  • its better than nintendo 3ds

  • what kind of dealer?

  • can it run metro 2033 on maxed out at 2560x1600 without actually having a monitor :$

  • no screen=no porn

  • @lokiman121 nice job repeating the top comment...

  • @necrocoprophilia My question for you is: Will it run Crysis?

  • you bought it from a dealer ahahaha

  • screw the next gen this is where its at.

  • Why don't u play it D:?

  • @irnehhenri no one remembers how

  • beats black ops

  • @snarkbaited got that right.

  • OMG 1942: NIM

Raymond Redheffer of M.I.T had an article published in 1948 about how to play a NIM device he allegedly[citation needed] created through 1941 to 1942. Also in 1978, he demonstrated the device publicly.[3]

A device procured by the toy collector Mike Mozart is potentially the one Raymmond Redheffer created and has some similarities to specifications of the published pape How much for it LOOOOOOOOOl

  • Lets modify it a bit and load up some minecraft on that baby.

  • Awesome review! You know, this weaseled into "First Video Game" on Wikipedia? Well "1942 NIM" is the first on the list a mentions Mike Mozart. Nice going Mike! Keep up the awsome reviews!

  • @WorldTradeCenter2112 I feel proud too xD

  • Does it have x-box live and play black ops

  • @916BEASTboi go fuck yourself respect the past

  • Battlefield 3?

  • 22 people cannot relate....

  • Ask AVGN!! :)

  • I was waiting for him to turn it on.

  • @TurquioseVampire ha, so was i!
