Enjoyed your clip as where doing Scafell this coming sunday 2nd Oct 11......only one down side mate !!! you got to treat your mate with a bit more respect and stop talking to him like hes a 16 year old :) apart from that good.
Nice Video... I went up Scafell Pike alone from Seathwaite, Seatoller and the corridor route and my map got completely ruined due to excessive rainfall! Thus, lost my way and after about 8 hours of walking or so, found myself in Boots, Eskdale!
I wish I'd watched this a week ago! We turned right at the emergency stretcher box and headed down Great Gable only realising we had gone the wrong way an hour or so later. :-\
this started out great and I thought it would be great to show my students until the camera man called Pete a twat!!!!!! ruined - my kids are only 10 years old.
Didnt like the way he spoke to Pete, Annoying and he loved his voice. Also should not have got there in the dark tut tut mr. But did bring back memories of my climb up there.
That ravine thing is called Piers Gill now fall into that and you most probably will die. Done this route from Seathwaite but stopped at Great End because the chances were we would have run out of daylight on descent. Did it a week later from Wasdale via Piers Gill and descended via Hollowstones. I would do that route again via the Corridor because its more interesting and scenic than the other more easier way from Wasdale
One very important Tip set off in good time estimate your time up and down try not to have to make your decent in the dark !! . if your experienced or not its bad practice! and you might very well die . never mined if you take the wrong path and you will die yeah nice joke not . people do lose there lives up there its not something to be joking about !!!
great video but stop the idiot talkin. fukin hell what a bell end. dont go walking with the gay. he will do your head in poor pete. turn the nav off he will cry and fall off the path or map and ring mummy to get him. fuckin hell pete punch him. bet ya wont go walking with him again
You know the path where if you go down it "you'll die"? You really might! Well you might lose the will to live, if you are on the way down and it's misty as hell and you have no GPS and you are on your own! Esp' if you are heading for Wastwater carpark, you retrace your steps to the top of the ravine, look down it, shuddering and then follow the ghost bloke who materialises out of nowhere... "I heard groaning and thought you might be hurt"!!
Very good vid,the corridor route path does get difficult to follow, took a wrong path myself and had to back track and its not like there are any other ways up either.Definetly best attempted in clear weather if its your first time or you could get into a whole world of trouble!!.
Very useful. Planning to use this route to Sca Fell at the weekend on a big walk from Langdale. I've only been up Broad Stand before from Wasdale side so it was helpful to follow your route with the map. Many thanks!
That's exceptional. Total distance on corridor route is 20 miles. Just did 3 peaks with a marine who said bench mark for elite forces is 10 min. miles (walk up fast, jog down) - that would be 3h 20mins. 3 peakers have to do it in under 5.
Are you sure it wasn't Brown Tongue beginning at Wasdale? 2hrs n that would still be impressive, specially with 50lb pack. Faster than than and ur getting into the realms of serious fell running, those boys are mental, even compared tro paras or marines.
its not a bad time , i now serve within 1para sf and we eat marines for breakfast when it comes to phisical challenges , we train in brecon and black mountins and mountins are our bread n butter, so was not to bad really , the pace is fast, up n down no dramas, we call it tabbing or tab tatical advance to battle , and long distances carrying weight is what we do!
Also did skiddaw via latrigg full kit 90 plus pounds
My mate would say something else, but as I've never been either a marine or para I wouldn't know. SF = special forces, correct? That explains your speed. Paratroopers are superfit for sure, but 2h up and down scafell seathwthaite goes beyond that. That's getting into elite times I would say, ever done any marathons?
Yeah, Pen Y Fan is one of my favourites and I see military types on it all the time. They're fit for sure, you can try keeping up with them if they're stciking to the track. One of them did Storey Arms - Summit in 18 minutes in July. My best time is 42, and that's faster than most!!
1 para are now classed special forces under a new goverment force set up in 06 , u will see plenty blokes up pen fan because its used for sas selection (well last i heard it was) and ive done london marathon , and other challenges around uk. The one i would love to do is the lake district race 100 miles over the fells, with minimal kit, Ive only heard little about it but sounds the mecca of tough challenges within this country.
@bcoy1para You mean special forces support group? Not heard about this 100 mile run sounds impossible, The ultimate challenge is undoubtedly ironman, makes P company look like a piece of piss.
@Plat087 to be presise jsfsg , joint special forces suppot group , the 100 mile run is some lakes challange , p coy a piss of piss? i take it you past p coy and finished an iron man then? no need to answer i know you havent!
Excellent video. Just been up Scafell Pike this weekend in poor weather. We did the route past Taylorgill Force and thoroughly recommend it. Adds a bit more effort to the trip but well worth it.
iv never done this kinda thing before but me and 2 friends are going there this saturday to do scafell pike, any advice for me? what do i need take with me except hiking boots? thanks
If you do this route again; at Seathwaite go between the barn on the right towards Gillcombe waterfall at the foot bridge at 200mts t/left and follow the route that takes you to Taylorgill Force; at this point climb up the side of the T/gill force and then along Styhead Gill
Not alot of f/walkers know this route;it do'es involve a little rock scrambling at the force but I think you'l find it a bit more interesting than going up and over Stockley Bridge; winter times good fun though
You should do this video again and let Pete film. Then when u reach the ravine he should say "bye pompous" and puch you off it! That would b very entertaining! :)
Many thanks for putting this on u-tube. I climbed ScaFell & the Pike over 40 years ago and this is the only way I'm ever to this scenery again. Thank you again
Thanks for that video lads, I climbed Scafell Pike on Wed August 13th, and your video was very helpful, I'd watched it several times before I went on holiday. It was foggy at the top but I eventually found the right route down! Amazing how many people were on the top, not all of them that well equipped either.
Very good video (apart from the bad language) - we did a rescue this morning for 3 peakers who took the wrong path when descending and ended up in Eskdale - we got called out at 0411 hrs and found them at 1030 hrs - they had been out all night - read up on the rescue on the teams's website - just google wasdale and rescue
ah god the stretcher box! the first time i was walking down great gable i was convinced it was a coke machine.... i was very disappointed at the bottom :P
Allow plenty of time for this walk, three hours up and two down, (from Seathwaite) especially in winter, you do NOT want to be stuck up there in mist or darkness..it is scary!!!
Also a bit pointless climbing up in bad weather or mist, you can't see anything from the top, best wait for a fine clear day and SET OFF EARLY!!!
Great video I have signed up for
Going up but feel I have under estimated how tough it will be!

Terrific. Wish I had seen it before. We did go down death alley and ended up in the wrong valley. Hope to do it again one day and get it right.
