@MCsVoice97 do u understand how the throat works?, when you swallow the epiglottis closes to stop food/liquid from going down the larynx and instead it goes down the oesophagus...alcohol never touches the vocal chords unless you choke, it affects the voice if you are drunk when you sing because of your brains slow reactions but if you drink it, there is no correlation between damaged voice and alcohol consumption...im an intern btw so trust me

(pretty rare) i know how the throat works and you are right! that's why hot water inhalations work way better than drinking water for moisterizing vocal chords cause the epiglottis dont stop the steam. (sorry for my bad english). BUT alcohol creates backward surge and that irritates a lot the vocal chords! it's like one of the worst ennemies of the voice (with the cigarette)

@TheXwatts Just think about the Alcohol metabolism. The lungs excrete +-5% of the swallowed - when, when you do not throw up hahahahhaha -, and a certain amount of alcohol will pass through the rima glottidis. Also, the alcohol evaporates rapidly, and, again, a certains amount of it may have contact with your vocal folds. It not only irritate the throat itself(and singing requires a good throat) but also dries it. So, alcohol will affect your singing - it also will make you force your voice.

Actually after listening to this live performance I can actually that she sounded more pleasant here than on the studio recording: here one can hear her chest voice more clearly and strongly instead of all the breathy vocals on the album. However it's true that her chest voice was sounding more huskier and "cracky" at sometimes still she managed to pull though from it somehow. Whether we like it or not that's another story. I liked it ...

When it comes to her voice if one listens to Daydream we can hear that in her voice was changing getting thinner too high pitchy than usual and making use of more breathy vocals than before which later become like another trademark for her. Still she sangs everything effortlessly and one can say that with the 95-96 tour. Something in 96 and 97 happened and her chest voice became raspier, nuskier and found hard to hit certain notes at times. Her whistle remained intact though.

@ross5104 Believe she could of sang this amazingly but she had issues with her voice in 97 when most likely she recorded this in 96. i wish it was on her Daydream tour. her vocals were outstanding.

the reason why she sounds different here is because she isnt sining in the nasal tone she did on the song, or like daydream era.

yep.. her voice was with problems in the low parts.. but she never lost power at the higher notes and whisteling .. whatever, that night she must have had problems with her voice.. and her insatisfaction is stamped on her face. :/

plus she given her all during 1996 Daydream World Tour.

Just watch some of her 1996 live performances in Tokyo. She was unmatched in 1996.
