  • I wished I grew up in the 70 and 80!!!

  • shit this is shit

  • Brings back a lot of memories. They were also the opening act for John Denver in the mid 70s.

  • Good Will Hunting bring me here ^^

  • Homer Simpson has a starland vocal band tattoo

  • Anchorman brought me here

  • anchorman <3

  • "it doesent seem like it would be that dirty" lol

  • That Asian one is hot.

  • I know this song is from the 70s, but you have to admit that anchorman helped it become as popular as it is. I myself got turned on to this song by that movie

  • Beautiful voices & harmonies! Great song!

  • Making love is fun...what a concept!! Sorry, though, for the 20 of you out there who apparently didn't have an orgasm!

  • @Enerjee I really do think she is on drugs!

  • A guilty pleasure. This is the only place I can admit that I like this, 'cuz you don't know who I am. :-)

  • Church...

  • what a beauty!!! thanks for this videos. nice memories.

  • at 0:11 is one of the girl singers playin the guitar i mean what is she doing

  • @christinabrown433 - I think she's on drugs.

  • Stay Classy San Diego

  • In 1976 when I was 16, you either listened to am or fm radio. If you were cool you only listened to fm (hard rock). Now 35 years later I must admit, when driving my pinto around with no one else in the car, I tuned in to am radio and sang this song at the top of my lungs....I hope none of the old gang is reading this.

  • @upster20 BUSTED!! Singing this in that "exploding" Pinto eh? Well no wonder you drove alone!...hey remember the guy in the black Firebird that got all the chicks? Bet he was an FM guy...(wait till this gets around to the gang)

  • @TheEldoradoKid Really like your comment, That itself takes me way back in time. Good Job.

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE Hope that fella just took it in fun stride, that's how it was meant! But oh yeah, when your brain has been fried in the 70s, you just naturally respond in like manner. And this was a cool song, but making love to a woman in a "granny dress" could be a little tough!, let alone in the back of a black Firebird or '68 Camaro like I had...

  • @TheEldoradoKid Kinda lost for words. Most I can say you made my saturday morning again with a great comment. Well I was really young in the 70's but I really enjoyed the music and this song being one of them. Great memories in looking back for sure, just as your comments. Really help me going back in time,oh yes I do remember very well those 68 black Firebirds. Thank you

  • @upster20 IM 42 AND I WAS 7 WHEN THIS CLASSIC CAME OUT BUT I STILL KNOW EXACTLY WHT YURE TALKIN ABOUT LOL LOL AND YURE RIGHT I REMEMBER MY DAD SAY YEAHH WE GOT FM NOW LOL LOL LOL

  • @upster20 ,,almost same thing as i do.. though now,,, i play it in my guitar.. but damn i loved this song and bellamy brothers let your love flow.

  • I liked this song when i was a child.... Its just absolutely horrible now im sorry. No offense to fans. The brunette is hot though.

  • I'll never forget when I first heard this on the radio in 1976. The good ol' days...

  • @trickykid73 yeah i did we had the best sex ever!

  • Never even knew of this song until Will Hunting (Mat tDamon ) sang it in' Good Will Hunting' 'when he was supposed to be hypnotized on one of his many therapists couches before finally finding his match in Robin Williams. Funny song.. Great Song though.. it really grew on me!

  • Great Stuff! :)

  • I love this song! I sung it to my boyfriend! I was so nervous but when I finnaly did sing HE THOUGHT IT WAS SO CUTE!1

  • @christinabrown433 Any girl that did that, i would be hers forever ....lucky man !

  • OMG!!! They covered the song from GLEE!!!!

  • Great song...

  • Margot was pretty hot!

  • this is me and my GF song! lol we are young but when we watched anchorman i knew this would be the song. lol anyway if u guys give me 20 likes i think i might sing it to her xD lol prob gonna faill.

  • The dark haired girl is margot chapmann

  • This is what my girl was doing nwhile i was working......SLUT.

  • that bass player is the balls!

  • KILL ME!!! KILL ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good Will Hunting!!!!

  • Memorable.....nooner??

  • Does anybody have any info on long dark haired girl?

  • @BrianSteve100 Her name is Margot Chapman. Her "exotic" beauty(she's of Hawaiian descent) really catches the eye.At the time, she was married with Jon,the guy on the left. She tried to launch a solo career after the band broke up but was unsuccessful. She was the only good thing about this forgettable band in my opinion.

  • @Thebraids Thanks, I appreciate that. She is unbelievably beautiful. Wish she had a fan club so we could keep track of her. Take care.

  • i love this song :D

  • My sister was born when this tune was #1 on The Billboard Pop Charts. Of course, I just thought of something: In order for her to be born in July 1976, she would've had to have been concieved on September 11, 1975. That's spooky!

  • Sometimes a song captures a moment in your life and you never forget it. this may not be the coolest song in the world, but it brings back such perfect memories of a perfect time in my life, so that makes it a great song in my book.

  • @doug5759

I feel the same way,I was 11years old back then,It gives me warm glowing feeling inside, especially in these hard times of doom and gloom. When i am feeling down i feel a need to go back to my childhood /youth listening to the music back then.

  • think i like this better than the rocord. don't know why. anyone know who was on pedal steel?

  • A slower version but still good. Thanks plaiboi143

  • anchorman bring anyone else here lol

  • @ChrisByd11

Ron Burgundy: You guys have it, I think.

Ron Burgundy, Brian Fantana, Champ Kind, Brick Tamland: [singing] Afternoon delight.

Champ Kind: I don't know Ron, That sounds kinda crazy.

Brian Fantana: Sounds like you have mental problems, man.

Brick Tamland: Yeah you got mental problems, man.

Brian Fantana: Yeah, he really does.

    Brick Tamland: Man.

  • "Afternoon Delight". The song was a #1 hit and the album also charted. The group was nominated for five Grammy Awards and won two — Best arrangement (voices) and Best New Act. </~~~~ oh yeah, they sucked, didn't they? dolt.

  • sorry to say, but Dolphinsafensncom, but you're wrong! This is one of many songs that were/are remembered in 70's music history....

  • LMAO!!!

  • like the other version of it on utube much better, this was done too slow I think, and the key was to low.

  • Scary bad.... They are far worse to look at than they are to listen to... Definitely will not be remembered well in 70s music history...

  • i dont care what the fuck ppl say, i like this shit!

  • this is such a shite song :L atleast ron burgundy saved it in anchorman!

  • Wow, they are actually singing, not lip synching like so many do on TV today. If you listen closely you'll hear subtle differences in pitch and tempo from the original radio played version.

  • the 70's produced legendary bands and songs. this is definitely not one of them. blech

  • At .54 the guy singing on the left starts grinning when the girls are singing "rubbing sticks and stones together" he's also mimicking the words. Wow, apparently he's thinking something is funny. Like it's an inside joke. I always thought this was a harmless song. Its not like alot of other songs such as Bad Company's, Feel like making Love. And more.

  • Also they are not LIP SYNCING! Like alot of singers do today. This song was #1. I saw them in Seattle when they opened for John Denver back in the 70's. I had their album too. Still love this song.

  • Love it!!! Fab song!!

  • hmm...just worked out what this song is about after all these years lol

  • Looks like Taffy Nivert invented "Air Guitar" This was one of my favourite songs as a kid...Love it still despite never knowing what they were actually singing about lol!

  • Wait... they were singing about sex? I am shocked...

  • @14bj337 no..it wasn't about sex.

  • @Ted2011ish haha actually, yeah it is.

  • @Ted2011ish

Tsk, tsk, it sure is! :)))

  • @14bj337

    LOLOL

  • they don't make songs like this any more. so refreshing!!

  • Comment removed

  • Good to see after "The Brady Kids" broke up Greg found another group to lead...

  • @TheSeattlehawk94 Obviously you don't have a musical ear or taste. The harmony here is really amazing.

  • @daisypom1 Uh...sarcasm idiot....I was talking about their appearence and the fact the lead singer looks like an old Greg Brady..

  • @TheSeattlehawk94 Didn't Danny from the Partridge Family beat Greg to a pulp in Celebrity Death Match or something?

  • @TheSeattlehawk94 glad to see there still is young punks with ignorance instead of musical taste like you still around

  • the things i would do to margot chapman...

  • Yeah, baby. Big ups for "Midnight Special"! And time has not dimmed the sheer panty-dropping awesome of this song. If it were any longer, the universe itself would have split itself hoping to get some action from Chuck Norris. THAT'S how awesome this song is.

  • There is a tape of Ben and Jon singing at some function. The Danoffs had two daughters before divorcing.Jon was on tour with Mary Chapin Carpenter for a few years. They all got together to sing the song at the White House for the Clintons.Jon still looks pretty young.Read they still live in the Wash DC area.

  • So bad it's good!

  • Afternoon delight before classes...best thing ever! :D

  • I went in the service in '76 and my girlfriend and my best friend hooked up because of this song...or screwed while listening to it...some such f*cked up nonsense...every time I hear this I think of what they did....she wrote me and told me while I was in basic training...the slut...but sadly I still like this song...and years later she and I became best friends till she moved to Cali

  • fantastic last saw on oprah

  • strange hearing it this slow

  • and also david letterman comdian helped out too food for trhought folks:) no offense to anyone on planet earth nasa space station:)

  • cool inChrist allways fat billpage illusionist magician in fun goodnewsbaptistorg

  • FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Ron Burgandy cover is better.

  • Taffy was so hot!!!

  • Bill and Taffy (Fat City) are the backing on John Denver's Take Me Home Country Roads. This song was issued on Denver's label too.

  • is this song about sex?

  • @tarajade87 yes

  • @tarajade87 This Song is All About Sex..lol. Love It!

  • Margot Chapman is (was) a babe.

  • Sure, the charts in 1976 were a little "soft", but not to worry. Things would get back on track in 1977, with Shaun Cassidy and the Bee Gees.

  • @jazzspoons This was the serious hook up music of the time.

  • i came here cuz anchor man

  • The blonde lady, is HOT, though!!!

  • The movie 'Good will hunting' made me like this song!

  • What a crock of shit.

  • @DarklingStar1969 haha!!

  • cool hey whers david letterman?:)

  • Lol they are all so butt ugly.

  • Do you think they ever did a little wife swapping within the band?

  • why does the guy whos singing look like gideon from scott pilgram vs the world

  • John Denver introduced them as his warm up band in one of his concerts at the Coliseum in Richfield Oh. in the early 70s. What a great concert it was. Bill and Taffy contributed so much to John's carreer in the writing and performing many great songs. Where have they gone?

  • The swimming pool just wouldn't have been an event without this song playing over the speakers. (And Rock the Boat, and Elton and Kiki Dee) :)

  • So thats what happened to Greg Brady after the show ended!

  • A great and timeless song!

  • i miss my honey xxooxx

  • It's nice to hear the different harmonies over the mix.

  • I was in my twenties then and I missed the 60s, I thought disco and this stuff sucked. Now I like it. I wonder if I'll feel the same way about Rap and Hip Hop? Ha Ha Ha Yo Yo Yo MaMa!

  • sung by 4 people least likely to get laid. before the popularity hit anyway.

  • Little known fact about Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert of this band...they co-wrote "Take Me Home Country Roads" with John Denver. This is why that Denver song was based on West Virginia when all the others reference Colorado.

  • wow what a laid back tempo!

  • Thankyou for positng this. I am a 70's music nut. I loved it then and I miss it now!

  • Wow memories

  • Did they ever bang on stage?

  • I listen to this, and travel back in time to a place where life was great !! What I wouldn't give to be that young boy again !!

  • this song and the one that starbuck did(moonlight feels right)takes me back to my teenage years. is it my imagination or does this song and "moonlight feels right" need to be played back to back?

  • worste song ever

  • Muskrat Love

    Afternoon Delight

    Tie A Yellow Ribbon

    Love Will Keep Us Together

The cream of "70's Cheesy Pop"...but Lady Gag is giving them a run for the Cheese Whiz.....

  • 4 people have no souls ...

  • So thats what happened to Greg Brady after the brady bunch ended!

  • if you think this song is not the greatest, i will fight you

  • What an awesome song! the words are so out of sync with the tone of the melody! It sounds like a lullaby musically, but the words are super f-ing nasty! DIST-GUSTING!

I GIVE IT A THUMBS UP!!!! (How did they perform this with a straight face?)

  • it sounded better in anchorman

  • Sooooooo. this song is all about Fucking?

  • @donsteel12 You are correct but it's still a good song.

  • @donsteel12 in the afternoon of course ;)

  • @donsteel12 Haha. Yes. They just weren't so overt about it back then.

  • This song is so cheesy and stupid that i can't help but secretly enjoy it

  • 3 words. Good Will Hunting

  • Music...

    What happened to it?

  • Is this vid running at the wrong speed, it's too slow !

  • @crazydavedisco Its not slow! They wrote the song and this is the original recording.

  • @daisypom1 Well your not 100% factually correct. The song was written by "one" of the band members, Bill Danoff, not "they" as you refer. This was their one and only real chart success. If you compare this version, with the orignal Chart single version (which most music industry people would consider to be the original) released in 1976, this is slower in tempo, That's all I'm saying,. No need to get so upset!

  • Thank you! A great memorable song. Such joy and feeling.

  • If it was not for this song, David letterman would still be flipping burgers in Indianapolis. This song got this band a television show and David Letterman was the host thinly disguised as a "News reporter." The irony is that this song's new popularity also came from a newsman, the legendary Ron Burgundy.

  • @Viaamtrak

Yup, well they say life all comes down to a few moments, I suppose in his case that was one of them, it is a wonderful song though, to be honest I never even knew who sang it before but I've often heard it on the radio and it stuck with me in a good way :)

  • This performance is much better than the commonly heard best-selling recording from 1976.

  • @rickinchvilleva Sorry, are you deaf?

  • like if glee brought you here

  • Great song...even better here though is here--> Anchorman-Afternoon Delight

  • so corneeeee. Thumbs up

  • the dark headed chick is smokin hot!

  • @seasack1 well shes like 80 years old now probably

  • @Music4life495 uh, not quite. Who cares how old she is now anyway she was still pretty.

  • great song ! ...just seems the tempo is a little slow.... (=

  • Awesome song! And great vocals.

  • all the kids these days love this.

  • I've always known about this film.

    Screw Anchorman

  • I left a girl friend back in Atlanta in 1976 to head to Parris Island. She and I use to set on the bank behind the High School before I left and .... sing this song in the early evening.

It was a bad day on the Island. The Senior Drill Instructor was pissed off all day.

I wanted to go home so bad. We marched by the PX and there was this girl getting out of a car. This song was playing. The girl had a mini on, and for a few seconds I was back on that bank. This song had made my day, that day.

  • what instrument is that on 2:05

  • @GmodAttic A steel guitar (or pedal steel) run thru a phaser (aka. phase shifter) pedal.

  • what an ultra slow version still very kewl though

  • Is Margot Chapman, the 1 with the long, black hair, the soprano singer? Somebody in the know, let me know. Bilboard's 438th #1 hit of the rock era. Good to hear a live version of it, for once. God bless ya, for postin' it. Hugs to you! BTW, I'm NOT gay!

  • This has got to be one of the blandest songs ever to hit the airwaves. When it came out, if I heard it come on over the airwaves, I turned it off. How could anyone ever, ever like this song? It sucks. This song has lips! Why? Because it sucks. And this is not what one could consider to be classic 70's folk. Maybe James Taylor and a few John Denver songs - but this? Naaaaaaah.

  • Thumbs up if you found this from Anchorman xD

  • Everyone thinks that this is solely about sex in the afternoon, but one of the band members is reported as saying in an interview back in the 70s that it's actually about a spicy lunch special called "Afternoon Delight" in a diner in the Eastern U.S. Granted, there are sexual overtones, but the entire song isn't just about having daytime sex - at least according to the band. LOL

  • @tonusaitis I think that someone was seriously having you on when they told you this! Come on- listen to ALL the lyrics! You don't even have to read between the lines for this one!

IMO this great song is squarely in the tradition of the Mamas & the Papas (probably the greatest all-around harmonies in pop, period.).

Both Bill and Taffy collaborated with John Denver, most famously on 'Country Roads', but also on other songs. Look up JD's 1973? British TV series here on YT

  • I remember when this song was number 1 and it still sounds good today!!! Thanks

  • Thanks plaiboi143. I love this song, and all the info you put in your comments.

  • This is about having sex...in the afternoon.

  • She was a co-writer & singer with John Denver

  • @WileERobby - I thought they had something to do with John ('FAAARRR OUT!") Denver.

  • Nice Video Thank you for sharing!
