I don't think he realizes what it's going to be like without a suit. Now it's finally about who's the better swimmer, not who has the better suit. Also, how the sport has evolved since he retired.. much has changed since 2004. A gold medal at London, if he makes it to London, will be a challenge.

He may win 200 free.. (is going to be really hard anyway, he is going against Biderman, Phelps and maybe against the best swimmer since last Olympics... Ryan Lochte). About the 100 free... nobody actually knows how fast can he become now that he wil not be focused in 400 free anymore... so we will see :)

Really looking forward to seeing how fast he can go in London. I think he could win the 200, but there's no way he can compete with guys like Cielo, Bernard, Bousquet, and Adrian in the 100. Australia will have a very good 4x100 free relay, but I think he's fooling himself if he thinks that they can break the American world record. I can't see them coming anywhere near it.

i think he is making a mistake sticking with addidas

they are and have always been behind in the swimming department

the good suits of today are speedo, arena and blue seventy

the rest aren't as good

since he wasn't around when the "suit revolution" came to past he doesn't realize how much a suit can benefit a swimmer and doesn't realize the suit has become a great asset in the sport of swimming

but if addidas develops a great suit i think he will win the 200 maybe even the 100 in london

@splitkostanjeuma He will use adidas only for marketing purposes. Australia National Team is sponsored by Speedo, so in the case Ian makes it to London, he will have Speedo swimwear on as part of Australia Team

@splitkostanjeuma i think he can win the 200 but not the 100,it will be too difficult because there are a lot of very good swimmers on 100 m.But he can win the 100 m with australian relay i hope.It will be incredible like in sydney when australia beat usa .It was an incredible moment.There are good australian swimmers in relay like eamon sullivan who was 2nd in beijing on the 100,sulliven can help ian and australian relay to win

there's a new young guy that had a great 100 free in the australian champs this year i think he's called magnussen

and if klim manages to comeback as well the australian 4x100 relay will be amazing

@afbofficial I believe he's been training longer than that. He had been getting progressively more serious for a few years and it was only in this last year that he realized that he might actually be fit enough to get a coach and target 2012
