Tina, you are amazing. Your poetry is true art. You have a talent that makes any story or feeling tantalizing and interesting. 5*'s, and I'de give you more if I could. Wonderful!
I wish I had put my first taste back in the tray and said, "No, thanks." But I was 17, and trying to impress a girl who smoked. I took it up. And it took me 24 years to quit. I had lost that girl at the end of that summer, but the crap kept filling my lungs for years. Now I've quit. It's 24 years since I've had a cigarette. Quitting the cancer sticks is the best thing I've done for myself. Losing that girl all those years ago . . . who knows?
beautifully captured; briefly, I was there too

Superb, Tina. I recalled my early fascination with my father's pipe, only to discover the bitter taste, and disappointment, as well.
Your work is always a treat.

Well, you know - if you hadn't lost that girl all those years ago, you most likely wouldn't be the same person you are today. Thanks for sharing.

I tried them once and they tasted horrid and made me cough ...so I gave up.
A wonderful piece of narrative painting pictures in my imagination.

wow, very well said! Isn't it kinda funny how kids can make better choices than grown-ups. It's the intuition. Thanks for listening :)
