  • Learn to use touchscreen technology, noob!

  • You suck! Icons are flat, lifeless. What do you want? 3d animated??? NOOB! And your fingers suck. This touch screen is bad! WOW big problem!

  • lol

  • @_@ I heard the N97 was bland, but I really had no idea... Michael, check out the N900 for "flair." :)

Trek around the community for a bit, and you can find mods that make the UI rival (surpass?) the iPhone.

  • @Dragon2sword lol i agree totally incompetant. frekin hell mate stop ya winging "oh god the apps dont look like their from fucking 2012" and "ahh crap i cant buy this the app store applicatlion picture doesnt look nice" but i will agree the touch scrolling on the origonal N97 did become a asshole but than i got the Mini and found no problems.but we all have our own opinions. personaly i think the N97 is alright but the N97 mini is better.the web browsers are of good quality in my opinion.

  • best phone ....

  • you are a fucking tit!!! i have this phone and ive never had any probs with it. you fucking muppet! you dont deserve to have a phone of this quality..go back to the 3210 you fucking moron.

  • Good review. You know if the new firmware fixes this issue?

  • haha 1985 lols..

have to agree the icons and its fonts feel flat imo..and its effects when going to an application to another is bland compared to iPhone..

but ive done quite an extensive review i like the n97 more than the iphone 3gs, camera alone is enough to persuade me, and i love my media files so i would choose n97 anyday...but if u like apps then go to the iphone by all means..imo

  • lol 1985 !

  • Thanks for helping me decide with my purchase of this horrible phone interface! I like yur accent too!

  • Does anyone know how much web browsing charges are? per month? Cheers! =]

  • Resistive touch screens are absolutely awful.

  • It's not multitouch!!? How hard is that to understand. It can only multitask!

And look how you are trying to scroll in the menu!!! Use the tip of your thumb, it's EASY!! And there is other ways as well!!

And the reason why you cant scroll down on a web page before it's loaded, is because Nokia don't wanna be making those chessmarks like iPhone 3G.!

E90 with a touchscreen?? You are crazy!!

Nokia's features is superior to all!!

I will make a reply vid to this. Wait and see bitch

  • The latest firmware has just been released . And all those issues are history now.

Update your firmware and re-make a review .

    Peace

  • I have been playing with N97 for 3 days now and I found almost none of the issues that were described in the video

Trials to move the scroll bar made me laugh - he must tried hard not to hit the bar

"Screen not responsive" - another big laugh - it - my screen did not respond 2 times during 3 days of extensive usage - a lot isn't it

and to some comments: I would advice everyone before elaborating about the device and its bugs to take it in their hands and to try

  • I bought the N97 too and the phone is really GREAT!!!!

I think he´s working with Apple together, or he doesn't know how to use an toutch screen... ^^

  • after using the n97 @ the nokia launch event in nyc..i have no comnplaints about the touch screen. if you havent tried it dont knock it.

  • nokia isnt competing again apple.what phone when 1st launch doesnt have any bugs?.. symbian is a very solid os. stop being fanboys. i like the iphone but one app at a time isnt cutting it for me. capacitive/resistive doesnt matter..i adapt quickly.

  • Crap phone :-(

  • Update your firmware and it should solve some of the bugs. Resistive is not necessarily worse than capacitive. With resistive you can use a stylus and you can use it with gloves on etc.

  • "its just a e90 with a touch screen" um, you forgot 32GB/48GB of storage? "you have to touch so hard on the screen" again - you need nails on your fingers... ive never used the cursor key.

"web browsing not great" ? um,. yes it is! you appear to want to hate this phone. Very poor and unfounded review. Spend more than 2minutes with the phone u klutz..

  • u need to use ur nail to touch it - grow some nails!

  • Use my nail? What is this, 2007?!

  • Wow, you really are an incompetant cunt.

  • Poor review by a very clearly fruit fanboi, please remove this rubbish Youtube, its painful to listen to.

To the "reviewer" maybe you should learn what DVD quality actually is before commenting on the outstanding features of the N97, it has done more for the Mobile computing world than the frivolities over at fruit ever have. FFS they only just managed to get video to work (Snigger)

  • Thank you for the great review...its actually HONEST unlike some other places. Thank you...I am a Nokia guy, but they need criticism like they did with the N96. Capacitive screens are extremely sensitive much easier than resisitive, for kinetic scrolling, but more importantly multi touch, and MOST importantly typing onscreen is MUCH MUCH faster than resistive.

  • Great Phone !!!! :)

  • tja its kinda shit phone :/ now i wwait for n98 :(

  • I cant update my facebook status because it only lets me type in numbers and symbols. What a joke. Isnt that their main application for the device.

  • Use your nail damet, ofcourse it doesent react when you use the soft part of the finger, use the nail, try that

  • glad i held out just a while longer.

I was seriously considering the n97, but i held off because of the OS.

the n97 is a sleek and stylish phone, probably has the best video recording capabilities as well.

but I'm waiting for the HTC Hero. The awesome, full of potential Android OS, Adobe FLASH, and the Android Market.

  • As for the touchscreen needing to be pushed harder, this kind of supports my argument. Why should? I don't have to on my capacitive Android G1, nor would I on an iPhone. Why, then, should I expect to on Nokia's phone?

    Thanks for your comments, though.

  • hey no hard feelings:) because is a different technology

  • easy answer: it avoids making accidental inputs and i wish you a lot of fun putting off your gloves in the winter with the capacitive technology, with the n97 you can enter with gloves.

this technology also allows you to use a stylus which is great when using the handwriting recognition.

  • Handwriting recognition, permits greater precision.

  • ...Finally...

ggp759, this is the point that I was trying to make: Nokia is competing against the iPhone, even if it doesn't want to admit it. The N97 is a touchscreen smartphone, so of course people will see it as a natural competitor to the iPhone.

As such, comparing the N97 with the iPhone was completely valid.

  • To continue my response to ggp759...

I now own a T-Mobile G1 - not an iPhone. I don't like the iPhone because I don't like Apple's restrictive policy with regards to its App Store and locking people into iTunes. You have to admit, though, that the iPhone's interface is fantastic, whereas the N97's in comparison is poor and old fashioned. It's just like the E90's, and that was looking outdated back in 2007 when it was launched...

  • hey no hard feelings:) I still think that the iphone interface its childish (large ugly fonts ) but the one thing i really missed on my iphone 3g was multitasking oh and dare i say FLASH:))). Now the rehash comes along with a better cpu more ram blah blah and still no multitasking or flash. Ans people are waiting in lines to buy essentialy the same phone with the same shortcomings. I just dont get it.

  • yeas its buggy just like the 5800 was at first but a new firmware will be out july 1st. as far as the other comparisons to the iphone (camera, video recording, mms) i just dont get it. other phones have been doing those from 2 years ago at least but now that are on the iphone are new and exciting? HAHAHAHA give me a break.(i have an iphone 3g as well0. And about the appstore compared to ovi: HOW MANY of those apps are really useful? ovi is stii a work in progress sure but give them a break!!!

  • Your comments are negative just for the sake of being negative. For ex the "icons are bad " comments is completely ridiculous and even more so when you compare it to the iphone's icons which are big and childlike. As someone who has used this phone for a week PUSH the screen harder its resistive and a good resistive screen. Stop the comparisons to the iphone(completely useless and biased).

  • I totally agree.

it´s a resistive screen because it needs to support s60v3 apps.

About the icons, change the theme and you´re home. But I agree that they are not that nice at start and it would be nice with some animation

  • Ouch! I guess you're quite a fan of the N97!

To put things in context, I've been an owner of the Nokia E90 since 2007. I loved that phone, and have no beef against Nokia....

  • sorry but the phone really has a lot of bugs i was checking to delete the post and thanks any way

  • by the way the firmware update will be available on the first of July looking forward for your review
