this crap of white women being "what beauty is" really really gets to me because most young black men grow up seeing this all our lives through every facet of the media. and when you're fed something repetitively on a daily basis it is SO hard not to take an effect on you. you start to have thoughts to the effect that if a black woman is going to be attractive she has to have white qualities. long hair. skin can't be too dark/preferably mixed/ and hope here eyes are other than brown.

True sista...but sadly for them the stats are different. 73% of interracial couples in US are black men w/ non black women.blacks total only 9% of US population.@ my college 9/10 black men have a white women.I know pro athletes,doctors,etc who are successful black men and only 1 is married to a black woman.Sad..i am mixed so i am not against it but when the stats for black men are so high its more than preference(sadly).I hope I find that black man who appreciates a strong black woman.

I wouldn't go as far to say 73%, the actual statistics are lower then people think, black men that marry outside of their race is 9%, black women its about 3 to 4%, the problem is they almost tripled BW, I sure they're are alot more bm just dating non blk women, but the chance of them marrying them are slim. Its just I dont like the media, showcasing WW as the standard of beauty, thats what I think are twisting bm's mind into thinking that have to be with a WW to show success.

I think it may be that high b/c in other cultures interracial dating and marriages is less accepted. The amount of interracial dating is still a very small amount so the fact that most of them may be a black man w/ a nonblack women may be accurate..the 9% you're talking about may add up to 73% of interracial couples.I agree about the WW standard of beauty you are talking about,its everywhere. Blacks are not seeing themselves portrayed in + manner from tv to the history books.

You are so right about that, I remember those days in HS, It kinda sucked for me bc it was a mostly white/hispanic school only about 5 blk kids in the whole school, including me. People look up to us because real love is so rare these days. We have so much pressure to stay together. It's like people are happy for us, but at the same time they expect us to eventually divorce.
