That blow to the head must've affected the ref's ability to make a sensible decision. That's the kind of thing your teacher would've done in primary school. I was at that game sitting in the main stand. It was a terrible decision from the referee and that's speaking as an Ayr supporter. If memory serves correctly Ayr won the game 3 - 1 . Johnny was trying to get the ball in quickly as time was running out. There was no deliberate intent to hit the ref. It was one of John's first games back at Somerset after his transfer to Celtic from Ayr United. He was a great player who is remembered fondly by supporters of both clubs.
Hahahaha that almost makes Chris Boyle look like a competant referee. Pity more refs dont do that against teams that play us now, we could certainly do with the help.
