1: during the NFL, and NASCAR season's have contests during the races/games of the team, or race of your choice
2: Invite some of the NASCAR Drivers in the ESPN football booth during the game to co commentate/ vise versa on the NFL players with the NASCAR stages
3: have the NASCAR drivers/NFL players practice with the teams/drives during practice times
You can't treat NASCAR, or racing in particular, like the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, etc. The have actually had it in the truck series where they took a break halfway through, but that was almost 10 years ago.
NASCAR isn't about short 125mile races, it is about staying in the game for the full 400/500 miles. ESPN only put it up because they are well behind FOX/TNT and companies need more viewers to advertise to!
ESPN have you gone mental, that has to be the worst idea ever, wake your asses up this isnt a puss sport, real men dont take breaks or take timeouts, they race for the thrill, not to ruin the sport
Can ESPN be any more retarted? I guess so. At least Burton thought it was absurd and I could not have said it any better. Maybe it is time for ESPN to wake up.
Jeff Burto has always been my favorite, and he still is. thats the stupidest idea ever. any true NASCAR fan watches the entire race. I've gone to walmart during a red flag before, but it was after a 25 car wreck at tally. ESPN continues ti dissapoint me...
Hell you can say the very same thing about Basketball, its all about the final 2 minutes. I like the idea of Nascar having a "Half Time" where the teams have to set there cars up to race in the opposite direction for the 2'nd half of the race.
Marty Reid's so stupid. Doesn't belong in NASCAR. Can't believe they put him in the booth.

I can't stand Marty Reid, I can't believe ESPN put him in the booth for their races.

This ESPN guy is one of the most arrogant people i've ever heard.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This actually seems like a really good idea. It would reward drivers that should have gotten a good finish, but were plagued by problems.

actually a few things to make ESPN better:

NASCAR is the most watched sport in the U.S. I doubt it's still 2nd biggest in this country

How to Make ESPN better
1. Get rid of Rusty and bring in Bob Jenkins or Dale Jarrett
2.Keep Andy Petree
3. MAke Punch one of them technology experts and get Allan Bestwick to replace him
orioles001 4 years ago 3
1. Done
2. Done
3. We wish. :(
dalejrgamer 4 years ago
Yeah I agree. Bestwick, Jarrett, and Petree in the booth sounds like a deal. Punch should be in Bestwick's job now.

ESPN is awful. I miss the old NASCAR on ESPN from the '90s. This is just a showcase of ESPN's awfulness.

We all knew that ESPN's NASCAR coverage is shite, but I didn't realize that they're that dumb, until now.
Great video btw

This is the greatest idea ESPN has came up with.
I'm being sarcastic right there.

Thank you for posting this. It explains one obvious point--ESPN just doesn't get it.

I can't believe they finally get NASCAR back and they jeopardize their relationship by saying the sport should be different... because of 1 race.
