This game isn't for everyone. I had an N64. Get the GameCube version, that really is for everyone. The graphics and new moves really make it the better version of the two, by far. Fuck the box art though.

It has the best story ever in a game, it has such deep characters.

and the gameplay is one of kind, not even all the bad ripoffs have done it close to this good. The Boss fight's don't feel like the same fight all the time.

MGS, a legend in the gaming world! If you have playd any of the MGS game but not this one... you have missed the most important and best part of the series... if you have not playd any of em... your life must suck! LOL...

@HatersGonnaHate1000 It was remade for the Gamecube. If you stumble across 'Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes' play it. Its only drawback for me is that the cutscenes involve matrix style over the top bullet dodging not in the original. But it's still a stunning game!

@StarInvasion No. The real downside of the gamecube version is the fucked up voice acting which simply ruins the whole experience. Sure the graphics were updated and some new gameplay mechanics were added but the PS1 version is still better IMO.

I would recommend playing the PS1 version first. Unless you can't handle the graphics, then go for the TWIN SNAKES version on the Gamecube. You won't get the original feel to it though. I know we're adjusted to the graphice 2 generations past the PS1, but it would ruin it playing the remake. I do feel like they should make a re-remake with graphics like MGS4 or better. Hopefully someday they'll do it and make it on the PS3 with the originals music and better cutscenes. :) (I'm done now. lol.)

They made a faster way you can change the PAL card temperatures at the end of the game. Kind of takes away from the original feel to it, but it's actualy ok if you want to get through the game faster. However, if you're trying to watch the story, you'll miss some story plot points when you go back to change the card. Some of the previews were a bit ridiculous. Like the 2nd time you fight sniper wolf and she has her laser sight on his head but she becomes in shock when he does a 360 to pick up his sniper rifle with his foot. Graphically this game blew me away back in the day, it really showed what the original Playstation was able to handle graphically. The realtime cinema's had me in shear awe when I realized they were not FMV's. I agree with Derek at the end, this is by far the best original Playstation game of all time.

@pippo17173 actually you can buy metal gear solid the twin snakes for the gamecube. it works for the wii, i never played it but to my knowledge it is a compination of the first two metal gear solids. last time i saw it was between 30-50 dollars. hope this helps you experience one of the best game series of all time.
