I saw Stan ,Christine an the lads many times in Wolverhampton, Kingswinford and Dudley in the late '60's and early '70's and they were unforgettable nights, my favourite album........40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve of course
this song helps me understand great transition from blues to great sound of early 70's softer rock initaly by Kirwan and later by Bob Welch , what in final efect turns Christine into greatest songwrier and singer of all times best selling album like Rumors and following . Thanks for posting !
I met Christine in Munich, late sixties, at the Blow Up Club, we went to a late night club called Short Stop, wonder if shed remember a gay guy called Martin, from the Freddy Mack Show lol Christine and the guys were so nice to me xx
I still listen to Chicken Shack even after all those years..Christine Perfect had an amazing sexy voice and her piano playing was impeccable..My Favourite album was OK Ken... I love the band and the guitar playing of Stan Webb but her presence is what make me really love Chicken Shack
From what I understand, there weren't very many women involved in the blues revival in Britain in the late '60's, and Christine really made Chicken Shack something unique.
@retardedjoe12 I agree. But why fall into the trap of calling casu3 "nigger"? We do know that is a really offensive term don't we. When I saw Chicken shack live they played along with black American blues singers on the same bill. They were one of many U.K. bands that brought those 'forgotten' blues artists to the attention of young people in the 1960s in the U.K. That's a point worth making.
WHY HONKYS THINK THEY CAN PLAY THE BLUES? THE SOUND LIKE SHIT THIS IS WHY PEOPLE LOST INTERST IN BLUES BECAUSE SHIT LIKE THIS GETS MORE PUBLYCITY THAN THE REAL THING ITS A SHAME IF U ARE WHITE DO A FAVOR TO THE BLUES DONT PLAY IT.
@blkrbt426 yes quit Chicken Shack for Fleetwood Mac and married bass John McVie of Fleetwood Mac. Both bands had the same record label and some of them played before at John Mayalls Bluesbrakers.
First band I ever saw live..1968....i was 14....still love em.....Most vivid impression...Christine Perfect in bright orange knee length boots....memories don't come any better...and of course Stan with his wandering about in the audience with his extra long lead...the cost was 7s/6d...thats 37.5p ....I still got the blues..
christine has a great voice and wrote some great songs before fleetwood mac had stevie and lindsay, after they joined she still wrote most of the biggest hits by herself or with lindsay........stevies voice is shit........christine gave fleetwood mac post 75 it's soul............
when asked to go on tour with mac again, she said, no thank you i'm rich enough!
Saw them at De Montfort Hall, Leicester around 1970. They were excellent and extremely loud! Stan Webb came down off the stage and played brilliant long solos wandering all around the hall, at the end of a 200 yard flex. Good times back then.
Yeah! I saw them at the Fillmore East in 1970- afternoon show. Webb came into the crowd, and 3 feet away from us played directly into the face of a priest sitting there........
I use to watch all these bands at the Blues Clubs that were around in the late 60's.Places like the Kings Head, Romford, Robin Hood ,Dagenham etc etc,Fleetwood Mac etc.If only Id even kept the posters!!!
I saw Chrisitne Perfect, aka Christine Mcfee play at Ealing Art College asI sat next to my friendFred Bulsara/Freddie Mercury of the future in 1965. We were in the same class together. That's a fact,
It wasn't actually Christine's Chicken Shack. The band are still playing and, musically, are better than ever. Stan is so vastly under-rated.

I understand why the sound of harmonica is so amazing! It is not Duster Bennett who plays on this session but the great Big Walter "shakey" Horton.

Surprised to see this here. They were one of my favorites in high school in 1970. Christine's voice was perfect.

Um....you might have heard of that *other* band she left Chicken Shack for....
Fleetwood Mac? Ring A Bell?
Too bad she didn't stick closer to her blues roots, but then again "Why" and "Songbird" were brilliant and had very little to do with the blues.
