  • They so copied Savatage with this song. Listen to "Gutter Ballet" and "Edge Of Thorns".

  • gutter ballet copy lol

  • Just epic.

Tells the story of a battle near the beginning of the 20th century that resulted in a major loss for the British, but a Pyrrhic victory for the Ottoman Empire.

  • Do i hear Gutter Ballet?

    Savatage rules!!!!!

  • Sabaton

  • thuh, i can read.

Only this song is so very similar to Gutter Ballet from Savatage

  • well, WW1 was one big waste of life.

imagine the biggest shit ever hitting the biggest fan ever... then you'll be halfway there.

  • @ B0bthebum The while period of history from the begining of WWI to about 1980 was basicaly one huge ass waste. So yeah. I agree.

  • well i would'nt go so far as to say everything between ww1 and the 80s was a waste, id say the seventys were below average but in the 60 u got the moon landing, and between that and ww1 i dont really follow you.. 30's granted were bad.

  • were was that?

  • damn.. im glad they were a support act of dragonforce, otherwise i wouldn't know of such an awesome band. They deserve to be much bigger.

  • i totally agree with you, they were the best band there that night, i was right at the front for them. am gonna get the album. and see when there next playing

  • @karlpeterson um i cant remember lol, wiki it ;)

  • coat of arms

  • @karlpeterson coat of arms

  • Aussies fought hard and hopelessly at Gallipoli in a war that wasn't theirs and not many other countries know much about it : |

  • Well, it wasn't just the Aussies. We Kiwis were there as well, mostly to get shelled by the bloody British at Chunuk Bair.

  • Yup, Kiwis too

  • for ppl that didnt know "Gallipoli" is a quite small city (or town) in southern italy.

  • it is not in Italy it is in (old ottoman empire) turkey they have wrongs maps in first world war thats why they died there.

  • Im sure there's a gallipoli in Italy too (i've been there) Maybe it's the same name for two different cities ?

  • ok but i thought you mean this song is about it

  • @FaNwlnG

    its original name is gelibolu

  • one gallipoli is, yes. but the gallipoli this song refers to is a peninsula in the turkish thrace, where the tragic battle in WWI took place, not the one in italy

  • Hitler did some good stuff, and some bad stuff. Pathetic? I think not, they were genious!

  • hitler was the one who came up with the no smoking law

  • That may be true, but the fact remains, that oil does not mix with water. Even if Hitler had done a sea of goodness, it was tainted with oil and he set that oil on fire. It was a burning sea of madness.

  • Nice Metaphor and "Madness" truly fits this part of history well.

  • wow that is the best metaphor I have ever seen.

  • actually, if you read up on what the Germans were building and were trying to build before and during the war you'd find out that they were ingenious

  • There's only so many possible different combinations of notes given that the musical scale only has 8 notes, and only so many possible different combinations of rhythms. I mean, I highly doubt Savatage patented the eighth-triplet-triplet-eighth rest-eighth-eighth pattern or the notes. With the limited notes on the scale, some things are obviously going to sound similar eventually.

  • Seh se wieder aufm Summerbreeze *freu* das wird geil

  • Awesome...

  • hie se doa se limburgers .. nice song :p

  • "Sabaton - cliffs of Gallipoli" has sold "Gold" 10,000 copies!!

  • whats the thing at the end? is that a song? cause i want it

  • Name of album was taken from the book - The Art of War written by Sun Tzu - Japanese(?) strategist. It have Quotations from this book - at the end's and start's of songs.

  • Sun Tzu is a Chinese Strategist not Japanese.

  • I didn't knew, thanks.

  • That book is good! (if you find translation)

  • During World War I over 421,809 Australians served

    331,781 serving overseas.

    Over 60,000 Australians died

137,000 wounded. casualty rate of almost 65 percent

The population of Australia in 1914...less than five million. About 38% of men between 18 and 44 enlisted.

Gallipoli has alot to do with australia..

do a search for "the light horse" though.

Beersheba had a film made about it.

  • awesome music :P one of the best lyric...

  • this song ROX!!1 \m/

  • ok....ive only read brittish where ive read but i guess they mean part of the whole empire

  • deffinately their best song ever!!

  • why has a swedish metal band writen a song about gallopili you wouldnt think they learn much about australian history up there

  • what has gallipoli got to do with australia??

  • I wonder... they sort of fought and died there in huge numbers in WW1 which wasn't really their war... still, I wonder hmmm

  • We learn to much history up here xD

The schools are crazy in Sweden :P

  • Truly a song that brings emotions up! Absolutely genious. Love that guys voice also!

  • thx for accept the response

  • I love Sabaton !!!!

I watched the yesterday in oberhausen with Bullet and Hammerfall !!!

it was an authul evening !!!

  • Is this song about Australian soldiers that felt thown in try to break the Turks.

    Good song,greatings.

  • Hahah, amon amarth isnt even close to folk/viking metal.

Equilibrium - Blut im auge / Unbesiegt is a very good example on what viking metal really is!

  • Man i love Sabaton! They rule.

  • Gutter Ballet much?

  • GAL-LI-PO-LI!

  • i lov it.

  • Both sides had huge casualties, turks suffered more but Allied failed to capture Istanbul wich was the main task.

  • Sabaton Rules!

  • This song is about the Anzac's at Gallipoli during ww1.

  • yeah!!!

  • great song!

    hail sabaton

  • "There is no enemy, there is no victory, only boys who lost their lives in the sand..."

  • by far one of Sabatons best songs

  • sabaton rulez

  • could someone post the lyrics too... i kind of hear and understand them but some parts are not very clear...

Nice song...makes my blood boil and remember Gellipoli. Aaah Gelibolu !!! My grandgrandparents shed their blood there to make it an impasse to those who wanted to, just to leave us a free land. May you rest in peace! We will never forget you!

  • darklyrics got all metal lyrics u need ;) would link the ones to this song if i wasnt so lazy

Ghost Division, Primo Victoria, but the best for me: 40:1 and Union. Lock for it in YouTube, fantastic Songs :D

    Greetings for Schweden!

  • Danke schön von Schweden ;) :D

  • no problem =)

  • Every time I hear Sabaton i get chills down my spine. The only problem I have with Sabaton is that their songs sometimes aren't very original. This song for example is a lot like "The Reich will rise"

  • They don't have a song that is called 'The Reich Will Rise.' I assume you mean Rise of Evil, but I don't hear any similarities between the songs. :/

  • You'll find that songs in The Art of War album have taken bits and pieces from the songs in previous albums. Listen for the similarities and you'll hear them. Whilst some may frown upon this, why should they not use assets they have already created? I feel that none of the songs are really similar as their previous, but I can hear the elements which they do share. The similarity you've spotted here (I guess) is "Gallipoli" and "The Reich will rise!" (from Rise of Evil) which use the same timing.

  • sweden chart top 40 this song is number ONE!

  • Probably one of the only countries where metal is regularly played on the radio :)

  • Which channel are u listening to, i am from sweden and i don't think that i have ever heard metal be played on the radio

  • I'm not from Sweden so I don't know any Swedish radio channels, but seeing as it's in the top 40 chart it must be played on the radio, right ?

Or is this a chart of albums/singles ?

  • bandit rock is a channel aired in stockholm and sience this summer also in gotherburg

channel 106.3 in sthlm and no idea what its on in gothenburg

  • pfft we got one channel^^...and then its both rock and metal^^

  • the greatest nation on earth is the one where metal is the most popular music.

  • Or as the song goes:

'The best heavy metal comes from north' ;)

  • DOM Ä G E R ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • *There is no enemy, There is no victory.. Only boys who lost their lifes in the sand... Young men will sacrifce their names are craved in stone by candle light* Really, good sabaton song..

  • isnt it "young men were sacrificed their names are carved in stone and kept alive"??

  • Can anyone here explain the story of Gallipoli? I normally know a lot about war history but for some reason I'm having a mental block. I can't remember this specific battle.

  • look it up Battle of Gallipoli on wiki.. its better explanation then one i can give. Or look up the ANZAC's (Big part of Australian Culture) hope this helps..

  • Britain and France try to knock ´the turks out of the war by landing at Gallipoli and march on Istanbul, they never got off the beach and were stuck there for months, with massive casualties as a result, the turks suffered very low casualtie in comparsion.

  • Sabaton is awsome!!

Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics?

  • u can find the lyrics on the album book

  • Ever heard of the amazing site called google? You should try it out

  • Google???? Oh now I remember..... ;-P

  • Sabaton ROCKS!!!

Gledao sam ih u Zagrebu i bili su izvrsni.

  • Battle of Gallipoli was a huge misstake of the brittish during ww1.. great song btw, Sabaton ftw :D

  • If you hear a song, and every single tune, every single beat fulfills your Power and Might and you can't get enough of it, then your listening to Sabaton!

    Damn Great song!

  • Den rockar fett för att tala klarspråk.

  • I can't wait till I see them this summer, kick ass band and equally kick ass song.

  • This song is epic, as are most of Sabaton's song.
