Tells the story of a battle near the beginning of the 20th century that resulted in a major loss for the British, but a Pyrrhic victory for the Ottoman Empire.
well i would'nt go so far as to say everything between ww1 and the 80s was a waste, id say the seventys were below average but in the 60 u got the moon landing, and between that and ww1 i dont really follow you.. 30's granted were bad.
i totally agree with you, they were the best band there that night, i was right at the front for them. am gonna get the album. and see when there next playing
one gallipoli is, yes. but the gallipoli this song refers to is a peninsula in the turkish thrace, where the tragic battle in WWI took place, not the one in italy
That may be true, but the fact remains, that oil does not mix with water. Even if Hitler had done a sea of goodness, it was tainted with oil and he set that oil on fire. It was a burning sea of madness.
There's only so many possible different combinations of notes given that the musical scale only has 8 notes, and only so many possible different combinations of rhythms. I mean, I highly doubt Savatage patented the eighth-triplet-triplet-eighth rest-eighth-eighth pattern or the notes. With the limited notes on the scale, some things are obviously going to sound similar eventually.
@halo07guy2 I'm a HUGE fan of Savatage and yes...maybe the main riff reminds you "Gutter Ballet" but music is not to compare notes between songs...the feelings that you get when you hear this riff are totally different from Savatage 's song...This is what makes music magical =) Rest in peace Ronnie

Nice song...makes my blood boil and remember Gellipoli. Aaah Gelibolu !!! My grandgrandparents shed their blood there to make it an impasse to those who wanted to, just to leave us a free land. May you rest in peace! We will never forget you!
Every time I hear Sabaton i get chills down my spine. The only problem I have with Sabaton is that their songs sometimes aren't very original. This song for example is a lot like "The Reich will rise"
You'll find that songs in The Art of War album have taken bits and pieces from the songs in previous albums. Listen for the similarities and you'll hear them. Whilst some may frown upon this, why should they not use assets they have already created? I feel that none of the songs are really similar as their previous, but I can hear the elements which they do share. *There is no enemy, There is no victory.. Only boys who lost their lifes in the sand... Young men will sacrifce their names are craved in stone by candle light* Really, good sabaton song..
Can anyone here explain the story of Gallipoli? I normally know a lot about war history but for some reason I'm having a mental block. I can't remember this specific battle.
look it up Battle of Gallipoli on wiki.. its better explanation then one i can give. Or look up the ANZAC's (Big part of Australian Culture) hope this helps..

During World War I over 421,809 Australians served
331,781 serving overseas.
Over 60,000 Australians died
137,000 wounded. casualty rate of almost 65 percent
The population of Australia in 1914...less than five million. About 38% of men between 18 and 44 enlisted.
Gallipoli has alot to do with australia..
do a search for "the light horse" though.
