Do you still have the kelfords? If so, how does it idle and how much power did you gain? I am getting this same setup with the kelford 272s and gsc beehive springs!
@evomaniac I rolled the car, the cams got sold. Over stock cams on an evo8 they're worth an easy 35whp/35wtq on pump gas, stock turbo, I saw even more than that, and on a Dyno Dynamics no less! Dynojet would be 50+whp/wtq
I think its just coming across that way in the video. It doesn't really sound quite so 'ticky' in real life :D yes the lifters were bled, this should *ALWAYS* be done when installing cams in an evo. It takes about 5 minutes and is a little messy, but it is extremely easy.
oh man 29 psi... sick car dude. nice numbers and mods. BR FTW!!!!! and I can only imagine what a bigger turbo would do.. haha maybe some in car cruising vids??
is that on the stock turbo too? i got a set of kelfords sitting at home waiting for spring, i've seen a thread with your specs on evolutionm but cant remember what was all done and the power you but down
did you have to upgrade the valve springs after install the kelfords, i wouldnt of thought you would need to if you keep stock rev limit ,.. ? not really wanting to upgrade valve spring have been told you dont need to with hks 272's ?
Def power increase in power up top over my HKS 280's. However, I recommend the HKS 280's (not 272's or 264's) for cars with the stock valvetrain. Doing either of these on a car will yield great gains over stock evo 8 cams.
what happened to your strut bar?
scothu 1 year ago
@scothu Left it off after the cam swap to have clearance to look for leaks :) I put it back on a few days later.
A lot of (foolish imho) people just leave it off for weight savings. Worth keeping on though.

so 7 months and 10k miles, I took these cams out when I got the head ported. All looks good on the cams, they look brand-new still. I love them!

Why is the engine ticking. Is it because of the cams? Where the lifters bled?

very true on bleeding the lifters. You'll get ticking for a few mins, but a few revs and holding it at 3k a few times will make the ticking go away.

Yes, stock IX turbo, but the car is a VIII. Making about 400whp on dynojet, 370whp on dyno dynamics.
