I don't understand why coldplay and radiohead are even being compared...they are nothing like each other at all. I wouldn't even go as far to say that coldplay is trying to be like them..THEY ARE COMPLETELY FUCKING DIFFERENT.
I see the Pink Floyd similarity, actually I consider Radiohead to be the next Pink Floyd... Songs like Echoes, Syd Barret era songs and Dark Side of the Moon, share a lot of very similar qualities. Or I mean, Radiohead songs, share similar qualities... The sound, the lyrics.. Some say Porcupine Tree is the new Pink Floyd... I consider Radiohead to hold that distinction
Radiohead isn't like fucking Coldplay. Coldplay is trying to be like Radiohead, and failing miserably. Viva La Vida is the most unnecessarily hyped up song I've had the misfortune to hear in every store, shopping center, restaurant and cafe I've been to in the past year.
its quite like late pink floyd, also some beatles influence, but the OK Computer album is certainly it's own idea. This is just influenced by a late 60's era , but with a 90s twist.
Calm down jeez. I love Radiohead. I'm probably not a "true fan" like you are, but I'm just saying that some songs have that arena-like sound of U2, and the lyrics are similar to Pink Floyd. And like I said, Thom Yorke and the rest of the band bring something totally new and different to their influences and make it a unique style of music. I don't like to label it though. All I know is that Radiohead is like on a higher plane of awesomeness than every other band I've known.
Please, Radiohead is on a level that those fucking fags in U2 could never even begin to comprehend. I agree that they have a really ethereal, otherworldly quality to their music, but they're not wash-rinse-repeat rock like U2.
Yeah...I kind of have to agree with you there. I guess I've always had a soft spot for U2 just because one of the first songs I loved was "Bad." They're new album is absolutely horrible.
While Radiohead just keeps getting better. And again, "Radiohead is like on a higher plane of awesomeness than every other band I've known."
Pardon? I like the music of Radiohead. I don't idolize them. Also, I don't like the music of U2. Hence, why I can't see why anyone would compare the two.
But there is obviously a reason they have reached fame.
Joshua Tree and Achtung baby were groundbreaking albums in terms of studio production and totally different from mainstream trends in the 80's.
That being said, I am a die-hard radiohead fan and I do agree there is no other band in the world that can duplicate their sound... but I find every radiohead video I watch is littered with fanboys that are very myopic in nature.
I believe you said (about U2), "They fucking blow." That's not simply disliking a band's music, that is completely trashing it. It's fair for some people to make comparisons, cause taste in music is a matter of opinion. That said, I certainly prefer Radiohead.
haha what a funny thing "dude radiohead doesn't need inspiration"... you`re probably too young and haven`t listened to older bands to notice their influences on Radiohead.
Don't know why you got 6 thumbs down lol. I think Radiohead is like a mix of U2 and Pink Floyd and when Thom Yorke and the band is added it becomes totally awesome. Even if you don't like Radiohead's music, you have to agree that they're different.
coming down from a peyote trip, this song summarizes the feeling of a bad trip dude, and trying to make it better, but not having any weed to heal it. zill seeing things. oh btw the vid is good too
Nice video work for an amateur; but he completely missed the meaning of the song. It's about how foreign we are to each other for no reason. Of locking up emotions. How alien we are to one another; and how foolish it would look if we could examine ourselves from beyond (as aliens may do)
i think meaning is within the mind of each individual, if you go strictly by what others and the artist say its about, then you are not experienceing the music yourself.
i think it's a song about all of the coping mechanisms people use to get through their lives. The narrator dislikes the fact that people do things like drugs, lie to themselves, and try to use reason to make sense of everything. For him, a place like outer space makes the most sense to be because he can get away from all of these things; he'd be "alright".
Or I'm totally wrong and its about something else. Either way, this song is the shit.
No offense, but the song PARASITE by Nick Drake is what inspired radiohead to make this song....... yo can even see the connection in the title... which is all a giant reference to a dylan song ;)
check it if you don't believe me...
radiohead and nick drake and dyaln are all great though
I like all three version I was just informing you that this song is inspired by nick drake and even has the same verse.... Also there is a connection to Bob Dylan by all three versions. You are stupid, don't know you're music and Radiohead would probably hate your little fanboi ass
