Myasthenia gravis most commonly affects the muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, chewing, swallowing and talking, and the arms and legs (see myasthenia gravis - symptoms). Less often, the muscles involved in breathing may be affected.
The muscle weakness is usually made worse by physical activity and improved by rest.
Myasthenia gravis is a condition that causes some muscles around your body to become weak. It literally means 'grave muscle weakness'.
The condition can affect any muscles that you can control voluntarily. Muscles that you cannot control voluntarily, such as the heart muscles, are not affected.
Dr. Stephane Huberty, a scientist in Belgium is developing a vaccine for MG. It is ready for phase 1 clinical trials. The BBC and the Wall Street Journal have both recently interviewed Dr. Huberty. If you are interested in it, follow @myasthenic on Twitter or Google Curavac. You can find the links to the articles and interviews on the website.
@juggalo1ijk Sorry, I just found out that this was on youtube...You probably already have the information you need, but I was on Mestinon to control it. They have a "time span" 180 mg Mestinon that I liked better than the others that I had to take every 4 hrs. I would take a time span in the morning, then if needed during the day I would take the non time span, then at night before bed another time span so I could sleep without worrying about not being able to swallow. u can contact me if ?'s
Greetings, Also have this. Was diagnosed about 8 weeks ago. First noticed Double Vision then slurring of my speech. Went to Dr. and he found or diagnosed it in a few luckydays. I did have a "Crisis" about two weeks ago and had to be air flighted to a much larger hosp. in NW PA. I was almost DOA due to respiratory failure.
I'm now under controlled meds and seem to be getting well from this last attack but also know this is a controlled disease and no real cure for it. Good Luck. :)
My girlfriend has this disease, so I happened upon this video for informative purposes, but something caught my eye. Was the woods in this video in a wildlife park near the Minneapolis St Paul airport? It looks familiar. Thanks.
hi, I have myasthenia gravis too, and had the surgery and any other treatment possible, it is hard to control but once controlled, it is managable... good luck thymus surgery did nothing for me...

Do you have any videos on Bulbar palsey. I have a friend that was just diagnosed with it and will be at one of your clinics soon for more exams.
