my 93 chevy 1500 had 283,000 miles on it when i sold her. that body was kinda rusted, not bad. but man, she got me where i needed to go. all original parts minus brakes plugs and regular maintanence. she was minus one license plate holder when i plowed into some old ladies car doing 35 when she decided to brake check because she thought the lights were red when she looked in the turning lane. fuckin old ladies, i tell ya... moral of the story, my beat up chevy with almost 300k, was sold for 2000

@bmxguy516 you must have gotten a good one then, from my experience the 305 was best used as a boat anchor. they mostly got flat spots in their cams which caused them to lose lift and not run right. 350 is one of the best on the road. i dont like the 5.3, never should have replaced the 350 with it. keep the 305 tuned up right, and keep it well maintained as well as have the cam inspected and mabey swap for both roller cam and rockers it will probably never fail you but mine was high maintenance

GM built many vehicles to last... and it came back to bite them in the butt of selling parts and new vehicles when Ford is still making money off of their cost of overall ownership.... Don't know what the heck happened to Dodge though... I've owned different kinds, GM's been more reliable mechanical wise.... just sayin'

Jeeps are better than Toyotas in terms of engine power, breakover angle, female approval, and the ability to go fully roofless.

Toyotas are better in every other category. They win hands down in sturdiness, reliability, wheeling capability per modding dollar spent, climbing, and passenger/cargo capacity (4runner).

If I liked going on day trips and playing in the mud, sure, I'd take a Jeep. For serious expeditioning in the back country? Hell no.

Cause I have taken several road trips with my family (many 1000+ miles one way) in our old 1990 Suburban (had 170k when sold) and in our newer 1996 Suburban (currently 130k), and both of 'em will do 80 all day long needing nothing more than gas. And my dad's old half-ton Chevy (had 160k when sold) that he had when I was real young was the same way.

Same goes for my 1991 half-ton as well (currently has 183k).

And all of them had the ORIGINAL motors.

Nope. I've gotten 200K out of both my F150 4X4's. If you ask me when it comes to FORD, Chevy, or Dodge, it depends on if you perform regular maintenance or not. My brother-in-law has driven his Z71 into the ground and couldn't kill the engine. They are all good. Chevy makes the best truck built in Canada and Mexico. FORD makes trucks in Kansas City and Chicago.
