Jimi stop having sex with your guitar!! (5:10) to end of song is ABSOLUTE FIRE, he lets his soul bleed out all over the place. Few people understand the raw power at the end of this jam.
I've listened very carefully to this song and I reckon he's probably playing some kind of guitar! I couldn't give a shite what sort - how can you even care when Jimi is making his guitar sing? Now shut up and listen to his deep blues from beyond the dawn of time. Or else haha x
That's some goddamn bending for a strat with 7.25 radius to handle! However, I believe it is the very same guitar as the sound is kinda jangly a lot like the sound of the white strat Jimi played at Woodstock (e.g. Red House) but with a little more drive.
YEA THATS A RICH SOUND OF A GIBSON, NO DOUBT A SG THE HOLLOW SOUND OF A STRAT DOESNT HAVE THIS KINDA THICK SMOOTH SUSTAIN, I CAN SAY THAT I OWN BOTH AND MY GIBSON I CAN TURN IT INTO A SINGLE COIL MACHINE WITH A PULL OF A KNOB VERY VERSATILE.
@MrWildboy214 the sound is way too detailed to be a humbucker. It's so translucent--signature of a strat. I'd go as far as to say a maple fretboard strat.
@highschoolmusical841 a while ago I mentioned "i don't think this is a strat" and I got attacked by some guy saying I should never touch a guitar....ever.
anyway, i agree...it might be a hollowbody. My guess is a humbucker with the volume turned down on the guitar
@highschoolmusical841 Hollowbody. Parts sound that way, parts sound like position 2 and 4 on the strat pickup and the end like the bridge pickup. Anyway, a guitar is just a guitar, it doesn't matter which kind as long as we're digging it :)
@HolliValsMusic i dunno man i always thought it was a humbucker singing in there... but i agree about the 2 or 4th position...
its definitely not exactly a typical strat sound. It could be his SG with the volume turned low? you can here him messing with the volume alot throughout the song....and in the end he cranks it up
@porlino87 Yeah well, Jimi was changing his gear all the time. And having it tweaked. Who knows, maybe it was a strat with humbucker or an SG with strat pickups, or maybe just a Danelectro through a valve radio :)
This is one of the best Blues ever in music history. Buddy Lucas playing the harmonica gives the perfect Mississippi delta blues feeling; the tempo falling down slowly; I love also Mitch Mitchells drum rolls; there is a unity and all comes from the heart of the musicians. Hendrix solos and guitar licks are so original and full of feelings. Thank you for this post.
who keeps dislikeing jimmys videos only one guy dude wtf i think its a troll

Strat, switch position 4, tone rolled right off, wah-wah pedal set bout 3/4 forwards, long black fingers connected directly to the soul of a genius.

Definitely stratocaster.. Listen to the beginning alone, the jangly sound.

so, what do you guys think, is he playing a gibson?
ceyhanb 2 years ago 2
I would be surprised if it was, it sounds too flexible for a Gibson. Gibson have this straight kind of nature, like skating on ice.
