It's not only a bad idea, it's downright wrong. When you're at work, you need to place 100% of your focus into what you're doing and what HAS to be done to get paid by the end of the 1st week or 3rd. However, getting high or doing drugs on your personal time is a completely different scenario and is perfectly acceptable. As long as you stay out of trouble and don't OD in public.

There are potheads that smoke weed before going to work, because they need their fix of weed and they seem to function better with it. I smoke weed, I snort coke, I pop pills, and I drink liquor but I only incorporate that on my personal time, even if my job let's me do that.

Saw Marc Maron in Toronto recently. Very talented guy, obviously, but on the night I saw him on, anyway, he was so depressive that it was tough to get into his act. If he deals with his demons somehow, he has enough brains to take on and cream anybody doing comedy today. Maybe even write a hit, edgy, comedy series for cable, as network comedy has been lobotomized long time ago.

Maybe his comedy is therapy. In which case, what a smart Mfer, getting paid for working through your own problems.

ive been a big stand up fan for a long time, but i just recently discovered marc maron, and i have to say, and cant believe what ive been missing. i should have been listening to this my whole life! hes by far the most relate-able comedian ive ever heard. he can be kind of depressing and dark, but the best comics often are. his podcast is amazing, too. and, of course, this particular bit is dead-on perfect.
