thank god that some one who can actually play guitar posted a review of this pedal. everyone just tries to play the same zelda riff and is terrible at it. bravo for doing a good job dude lol
Devi Ever produces (my take) the only fuzz pedals that sound like a fuzz pedal. To many of the newer fuzz pedals are too tame sounding more like distortion devices or overdrive pedals.
Hey Andy, how come you guys don't do any demos of Roger Mayer pedals? Is it because you don't carry them? I think he makes some of the best fuzz and other various effects around.
Although it's similar to the Torn Peaker are we ever going to get a review of the Aenima? A pedal isn't cool until it's been reviewed by proguitarshop.
If you like 8-Bit videogame tones, you can DIY an UglyFace Fuzz pedal, or check out the WMD Geiger Counter video that PGS has up. I think those would do the Bit: Legend of Fuzz title more justice, but that's an opinion.
@KaossPadGuitars Trent Reznor had two one of a kind pedals built by the guys at Death By Audio. They have rediculous fuzz pedals! Although this sounds just gravy!!!
Devi stuff is way over the top - maybe good for recording but there's no way you could make this cut through live without ungodly uncontrolled volume for the "low" spots and some kind of limiter/compression for the "hot" spots... just more "stuff" to hook up and deal with to try and make a pig's ear sound like something IMO
@moucon - Not true. You should try playing a good fuzz in a live situation sometime. It's not so complicated. The extremely compressed nature of a high gain fuzz keeps the volume constant and allows it to cut through quite easily when necessary. And anyway, it's not always about "cutting through". Sometimes you just need a big wall of fuzz, i.e. My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Mclusky. All fine examples of this kind of fuzz put to good use. This pedal ain't for the blues lawyers.
@ProGuitarShopDemos No offense intended guys, but I've been playing live with fuzz pedals since before they were called fuzz pedals - probably before you guys showed up in the womb ;-) I'm old - can't help that -. But I know exactly how they work, what they sound like, and how to use 'em. Doesn't change my opinion. i'll give you the "Sonic Youth" stuff - but that ain't my cup of tea. I don't see myself out there doing' many "My Bloody Valentine" covers ;-)
@moucon I'm not looking to do much covers at all..these pedals are intended for musicians trying to make their own music..not covers. There is nothing wrong with doing covers and being a working musician...but that's probably not the intent of most watching this video..myself included.
@moucon Not everyone plays live you know. Try this pedal, it's hard to make your neighbors NOT hear it; even when the volume pot is only located in the first quarter of the turn.
I agree, I like a few pedals form devi, but they make to many and most sound the same to me. The Hyperonion sounds pretty good, and the Herion Lifestyle was so-so. Seems like they are selling cool looking boxes that don't sound that great.
OMG!!!!! I have to have it!!!!!! just for the graphics hahaha! i bought zelda when it first came out!!! man it sounds awesome too for some prog stuff. 8-bit boogie =D LOVE IT!!!!!!
YAY I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR YOU GUYS TO DO THIS!!!! I LOVE THIS PEDAL!!!! MUCH RECOMMENDED! I already own one, but I leant it out and am not sure if I am getting back... Might need to buy another. lol.
Yeah, the Devi Ever stuff isn't very interesting, all of them do sound the same, just the same two knobs, and they all have some wacky sound, but a weak fuzz overall. Not the wall of fuzz sound people hype them up to be.
@bgingras05 yeah, Ive noticed about 90% of all fuzz pedals sound exactly like this. They all sound like a big pile of wet farts. Unless its a Dallas-Arbiter, an Analogman Sunface, a '69 fuzz etc, (things we have already heard of) they all sound the same. I dont think I've heard a fuzz pedal from a boutique company that hasnt sounded like this... (unless its a clone of something good)
@libertyfalls agreed, I sent my Fuzz Face to Analogman to get the NKT275 mod done and i love it, doesn't play well with my Mojo Vibe that well but it didn't before it went in either, so I'm also using a Fulltone catalyst which is kinda cheating but it's something with the Fuzz faces impedence and the fact I can't dime out my Marshall like Jimi lol.
@bgingras05 Try putting the vibe either before or afer the fuzz. I had issues too with my sixties vibe and I switched the vibe and the fuzz around and it worked great. They need to make like a 5 watt marshall that doesnt sound like dog shit so normal players could get that 200 decibel marshall hendrix sound without going deaf!
@libertyfalls There's a bunch of 5 watt tube amps out there in the $200 range (not much more, if any, than these "boutique" stomp boxes - they sound great and will do exactly what you're looking for. Put a mic or a DI on them and you're in business live as well.
@libertyfalls Yeah I've been thinking about getting a hot plate but still on the fence. Ive tried the fuzz before the vibe like Jimi and after the vibe as recomended by Mike Fuller when i had my Deja Vibe, with both I've had issues, even playing with the buffer switch inside the Mojo. Using an OCD last as an dirty plexi kinda sound helped but you're right, a 5W Marshall would be nice! Jimi was a genius to make it all work. I wonder what all Roger Mayer did to mod his pedals.
@libertyfalls Amen brudda - I've been sayin' that all along. They're all pretty much the same thing... an poor substitutes for a good amp/guitar combo.
Yeah i got one, all the demos show me the same stuff here. It's not the best fuzz out there, just a lot of output. But hey, its gotta lot of hype so whatever.
I might have liked checking out the old Bass fuzz she made, now called the supermassive black hole, and im not sure it sounds the same as the bass fuzz.
@samuelmichaud yeah I want to like these so bad but I can't imagine at a gig, we"ll say a small bar on a cranked up 15-25w tube amp all of these devi pedals sound different from each other.
@samuelmichaud Like once was said, most fuzz pedals out there are pretty weak on low end. Apparently the easiest pedal to make. But hard to make good.
Of course nothing stops you from making them look good and going nuts on the production table... sell em like warm cookies.

@InvadersSpace Blue Box is an octave fuzz, basically your sound is duplicated 2 octaves down. The Legend of Fuzz is super-compressed fuzz.
