It's sad to see people arguing over how to pronounce Ninja Gaiden. Who's to say that the person who came up with that word didn't pronounce it wrong? Why is only Gaiden said as Guy-Den while words like Raiden and Maiden are pronounced with the capital A? Technically, it should be pronounced as Gay-Den for consistency with Raiden and Maiden but bickering over it won't change anything. Mark will still call it Gay-Den and it's all good.

Yep. Ninja Gaiden is a classic game. It was a pretty hard game, but I still enjoyed playing it back in the day when I was 6. And it's easy for me to say that the franchise itself has evolved tremendously in the last few years. I've played the newer Ninja Gaiden games and they're awesome. And Ninja Gaiden 3 is comming very soon.

The NES and ATARI 7800 are almost exactly the same in some way the Atari 7800 comes up a little bit ahead in that the ROM space for the carts is about 48k without bank switching while the NES could only handle 32k without bank switching and the MARIA chip for graphics was also superior in that it could handle a large of amount of onscreen object at one time around about 100 or so while the NES could only have about 50 or so objects on screen at one time. THe online way the NES is the audio

@cgohma Very true, but the Atari 7800 had absolutely no chance at competing with the NES. Atari was still haunted by the Game Crash and was no longer a trusted household name. The 5200 was such a joke no one wanted its successor. The sheer amount of arcade titles just could not hold gamer's attentions in the mid to late 80s. Nintendo had much better first party titles and had excellent 3rd party support.

TL;DR - Nintendo had Mario. Atari couldn't compete.

You were absolutely spot on with everything in your review. The story was one of the most appealing parts back in the day.

The gameplay just hasn't aged well. You move an inch away from an enemy spawn, and it's back again. It's just annoying. The game's full of bugs, disappearing enemies, poorly placed enemies, muddy backgrounds, and sometimes backwards physics.

But you're right. After Shadow of the Ninja, Shinobi and the GameBoy version of Ninja Gaiden, these games fall behind.

This game gave me some very dark nights lol!... It got a freakin hard nut shell around it, so hard that end boss.. I almost went crazy for it. :D BUT in the end, I did killed the end boss, without a doubt one of the hardest games out there to beat (the end boss I mean). Almost impossible to beat him, Its like the Shredder guy in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles on NES (which is even harder I guess :P)
