I absolutely love this movie ! It is so deep and enchanting, but still the content is somewhat different from the Disney version :) i Can totally recommend this materpiece !
This film is brilliant. I encourage people not to compare it to the Disney version because they each offer a unique fairy-tale feeling that is both different and enchanting.
While staying in Nice, I visited a Jean Marais exhibit... there were costumes, etc. from La Belle et La Bete... I wish I could remember where now. I loved this movie, which I first saw 35 years ago in a French class.
Beautiful movie, with a handsome beast and many artistic touches: wall sconces with arms that move, Victorian wooden heads with eyes that move--very oddly beautiful...
So fucking good!!! Criterion owns for the work done to this movie (for those who never witnessed the shitty transfer that was around) still holds up after all these year's.
Judging by this trailer, it seems to be from the second Criterion release. Mine is from the first one and it is missing a documentary. So does it mean it was restored twice by Criterion?
Is this the new HD digital restoration made by Criterion? It have too many white spots popping arond and some instability of frame here and there. SHould be bether to a HD digital restoration.
This movie is so beautiful. It honestly changed the way I feel about cinema

The film is a statement about human life, not merely a captivating fantasy. I loved it.
