the most memorable game by any singular athlete in any sport i've ever seen live - only 26, so i never saw ali fight, tiger woods gave some performances too
Once the Bulls got to the finals in 1991, they were unbeatable in the finals from there on out. They were undefeated in the finals, 6-0. I am talking about the series as a whole, not individual games during those series.
To people complaining about the refs: who cares? Refs will blow a call no matter what team it is: it's called human error. What happened, happened, and it's time to get over it. The better team won, it's as simple as that.
I DON'T GIVE A FUCK if he pushed off... Malone pushes people in the paint EVERY SINGLE possession. Always swips at the ball on defense too. Fact is Jordan put a clinic on the Jazz. All-in-all you still have to make the shot and MJ went in with all net over Russell. So take that, and take 6 championships to the face Jazz.
lol i love rodman when jordan is shooting freethrows, he just has his back turned to the basket and is like looking into the crowd before he walk away
"At that moment, I knew, surely and clearly, that I was witnessing perfection. ...He stood suspended above the earth, free from all its laws, like a work of art. And I knew, just as surely and just as clearly that life is not a work of art, and that the moment could not last."--Norman Maclean
actually i think isaiah thomas is wrong. the ref could see that. foul or no foul at that point in the game any ref prob would have been fired for making that call
Foul by Jordan, any idiot would see that except Jordan lovers posting :D. Secondly, he was famous for always carrying the ball and never being called for it. The NBA bent a lot of rules for Jordan and this series was meant to be won by Chicago.
It's so funny because everyone will tell you Jordan was the person to take the last shot in this game, of course he wasn't. But even still, looking at that shot, down by one and needing to seal the title, you stoll gotta shake your head in respect. Gotta love him even though I was a huge Knicks fan at the time.
@mrhollister09 Well not only just the steal and the game wining shot without taking a timeout, MJ also realized he needed to score quickly and did so within 4 secodns so that they would have the shot clock advantage. Then he stole the ball from Hall of Famer Karl Malone and scored on renowned defender Byron Russel. Funny thing is that Russel is a great perimter defender, yet MJ really made his defense look like nothing.
"kobe never got that open in the finals against the celtics"
Because he never learned how to effectively move w/o the ball, or consistently free himself up for cleaner looks at the rim. The celtics DID NOT double him ALL THE TIME as so many of U dumb kids today try to claim, just make a more favorable comparison for him to MJ.
Tom Thibodeau, who was Boston's defensive coordinator says that they played kobe 1 on 1 with help 'D, which is SAME THING teams did to MJ when he played..
@blackadam06 exactly. The one thing that I always notice with Kobe is that it's as if he needs so much more effort to score compared to MJ. MJ does things so easily, because he does so many things well. Making shots due to getting open is a lot more indicative of a player's skill and IQ than making contested shots. MJ really really knew how to play the game.
wow Michael and Kobe look the exact same WOWWWW. i mean i new they play the same but even the way they run and set up there post and holding position and pointing to direct the triangle crazy.
to say a game is "FAILRY CALLED" sounds like the game is rigged stop using the term failry called it makes absoltly no sense. If the the refs are not blowing the whistle for the opposing team obviously there is no foul called. next time do a better job NO FOULING moron oh wait there is no next time cause this eara is over with.
soft kobe scored 81 points in a full game but still jordan is way better than kobe and lebron is okay but he is not at the level kobe is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if any of u waste youte thing lebron is better than kobe than y'all dont know basketball well but jordan is the bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssstttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt .NBA player in the world.
The ref's were not in the pocket of the Bulls. There is a play near the end of the game where Jordan misses a 3 and they throw a long pass to Bryon Russell and Jordan steals it, then he passes it to Rodman who jumps to catch it. When Rodman lands he falls on John Stockton and they call an offensive foul even though Stockton got under him while Rodman was in the air (which means a blocking foul). That play could have cost the Bulls the game, more than waiving off a 3 pointer in the first half.
I don't understand the complaining about the 3-pointers. It's ridiculous to simply add/subtract those points from the end result to prove that Utah got robbed. Those calls didn't even happen in the 4th quarter.
Footwork at 3:38 is just sick. And anyone who thinks MJ's lovetap with his off arm actually moved Russell needs to look again. Russell obviously slipped.
Im a big MJ fan but he pushed Bryon Russell out of the way...but then again during the same playoffs Reggie Miller did the same thing to MJ in game 4 of the eastern conference semis b4 hitting the game winning 3...that sorta stuff happens...
He certainly DID put his hand on Russell's ass but it does not look as if Jordan actually pushed him.
Jordan used his left hand to knock Russell's right arm out of the way to get ahead of him, initially, which forced Russell to have to run to keep up.
Then Jordan absolutely PLANTED that right foot of his and brought the dribble back. Jordan may have wanted to push Russell but he never really got the chance.
Russell got a little too ahead of himself and then slipped when he tried to recover.
I remember Reggie Miller saying that, that was a foul...but it sounds funny to me coming from the man who actually did something similar to MJ in game 4 of the NBA semis of the same year...lol...
Right on man, that's exactly how I see it. Russell was sure MJ wanted to take it to the hole so he got ahead of himself. to deny him. When MJ crosses him over Russell's momentum was just too much. MJ's left hand on Russell's ass did nothing to cause the fall.
@bubufubu good at least someone actually understands what really happened. if he pushed him Russell would not have been able to turn around he would of kept going because of the4 momentum of a push.
i remember watching this game like it was yesterday. i was only 8 years old, and i started crying after he hit the last shot, because it was the end of a legacy. but boy how beautiful of an ending was that?

Robbery (of basketball)
Assault (of ankles)
Murder (of championship dreams)
Jordan committed many crimes in the final 30 seconds as he did the entire 90s.
