How did a 4WD drift like that?

b/c it has super computer which directs and calculates where and how much power it should give either on the front two wheels or the back. that's for the evo 10. I think the power difference or whatever you call it is like 30% up front and 70% to the back, which allows it to drift. ANd in this case.. its a rally.. the dirt helps it to drift like that.

On a track, since it's possible to push hard and still remain glued to the track, getting as near to the point of sliding as possible is preferred, but actually sliding isn't because it wears tires unevenly/harder plus it upsets the balance of the car and etc. etc.

Drifting is much more common and useful in rally because the surfaces are slipperier and it would be impossible to push the car as hard as possible without sliding. That, plus slipperier surfaces doesn't wear tyres as hard as asphalt.

I don't think the wheels are spinning in reverse. It could be either the camera (cameras used to give wheels the appearance that they were spinning backwards) or the fact that we don't have enough time to watch them.

Amazing DKO, that was Gigi Galli in the Monte Carlo rally in 2001. The Lancer he drove was Group N spec, in other words almost the same as a stock standard Evo you would buy at the local Mitsubishi dealer. Which makes that last hairpin turn on unpredictable ice even more inspiring.
