These models of sony mp3 players are the best mp3 players you could get.

Perfect size. Excellent build quality, excellent battery life button placement superb.

Namley its practical rather than flashy. To make it more practical they could drop the video feature and add even more battery.

Ive had one for years now battered up cracked and all sorts but still no reason to change it.

Soon they release a new version of this model say a 64gb with 60 hours of battery then its time to upgrade for me.

I accidently dropped it last week and it just stoped working and this was the first time i dropped it. i have dropped my first gen ipod nano on the ground several times and it still works. Yeah, but it´s heavier than sony MP3, the Equalizer is pathetic cause u cant listen a song in R&B EQ if have a high bass cause distorts, the batery life is lower, more expensive...

the mp4 does it automatically byitself so if you thing a song is energetic it might classify it in another section and u cannot remove it and thats frustracting but u wont use that option a lot if u buy it trust me. i have the same mp4 and all i do is just play the songs normally at least for me it doesnt look appealing alot

The "E" series makes me download software to transfer music to the mp3 player....The "S" series is connect/drag/drop without installing any drivers, I have both series but I actually like "E" better because it uses a standard USB cord instead of a personalized Sony USB that has to be ordered from the sony website once broken.

Sony basically has two lines, the budget and high quality lines. The S is part of high quality line, and the E series is part of the budget line. The main difference is that the E series has 'decent' sound quality, while the S series has 'excellent' sound quality. The E has a plastic case, the S is made out of aluminum. The S has themes/wallpapers, senseme, and like the dude says it comes with good earphones that would be worth ~50$ separately.

It isn't much of an upgrade. The senseme is gone, it's not a big loss but it's a fun feature, the good included earphones are gone. Instead the player has a slightly bigger screen, decent speakers, the sound is just as good, it has a voice recorder, an alarm clock and it supports more audio formats. The price is a lot lower too. The real reason to go for the new one is the low price and if you don't care about the loss of aforementioned features.

Can anybody tell me... What are the advantages of Sony's MP3 players vs. the iPod Touch? My iPod Touch sucks ass. I mean it's nice to have the capability of Wi-Fi, be able to check e-mail, go on the internet. But it seems cheaply built. The headphone jack is effed up and keeps not making contact and pausing my music and crap. Anything I ever bought made by Sony has been quality. With them I know that I am paying top dollar for quality.

The only Apple product I have ever bought is the iPods. I had one of those old iPod Mini. It spazzed out and I sent it into Cupertino. Took 2 months to get it back. Got a 4GB iPod Nano. I really liked it. That seemed like a well built piece of equipment. Now this iPod Touch I have is pissing me right off. I bought PlayStation when the PS One, 2 and 3 came out. All have been quality equipment. Never bought anything crappy from Sony.

What you said about the iPod Touch is completely right. This mp3 player is extremely reliable, unlike the poorly made apple products (I've had 3 iPods which have all broken so excuse my blanket statement). Reliability is your number 1 advantage, also there are quite a lot of equalizer options to mess around with to make your music sound that bit better. The only downfall is the slightly less intelligent software and you can't create playlists from the mp3 player itself as far as I know.

I watch full movies on my NWZ media players, it is no problem at all whether 5 minutes or 2h. The only important thing is that the files are MP4 format. The NWZ does not play avi or flv videos so the files must be converted first.

As said I love my NWZ players and use them daily (one for my music, the other for videos).

I forgot to mention the memory size. There are 4 and 8 GB, I remember...maybe even a bigger version. The memory size of your media player depends on your needs, I would recommend you 8 GB or bigger for the videos. I have both 4 and 8 GB and use the bigger one for my MP4 files.

some wmv files can't be played back when transferred by media manager. if u retransfer them using windows media player 11 they may become playable. i use a program called format factory to convert them to play on portable device then just drag and drop them. hope this helps.

I picked up the small 4GB E model a few months back. I haven't had a single gripe about this player yet. It's been perfect. Radio and mass transfer protocol were the two reasons I wanted it, and I'm glad I went with it. iPods are nice, but I got sick of using the wheel and being saddled to iTunes.
