  • LuV it! Wish I could drive that fast....though I admit it, they used to talk about my fast driving in Neb. as there were few police there in the little country town where I lived. Hehehehe....but I DID get to drive in a rare powder-puff race there as the family raced always in the stock car races. Love the wind thru my hair....and go-go-GO!

  • @Licmycat Gee, I thought I knew all the American terms, but admit I had to look up "powder puff race". Our Aussie women would probably punch us if we called their races that, but good on you for taking part! I'd love to spend more time on racetracks and on empty country roads- it's the very essence of freedom- and I'm glad you know the feeling of go-go-GO!

  • @videowilliams LOL! Didn't realize it was a foreign expression for you. They don't have much respect for women here and told us the insurance companies charged BIG bucks for women racing, so rarely did they have any. 'Course our men are still too much like cave-men so it's safer to have a fast car to race away from them! Have a great evening.

  • Watch out top gear! lol

  • @marymo75 Strangely, Mary, I'm still waiting for Clarkson or May to call and beg me to take over their jobs- but I'm sure it's coming ;-?

  • There are enough crappy drivers on the roads to risk putting the speed limits up to 160. Australia should invest in better mandatory training for a week. Then back to the hours system.

  • @DemonAMVs I'd be all for better training such that we'd all be allowed to drive faster on the open road.

  • @videowilliams Yeah open roads like the large 3-4 lanes, but normal highways I think should stay at 100-120 at most. I see people changing lanes without indicating or doing 110 in heavy rains. I don't want to be killed because someone was to impatient to take 1 second to look and indicate or slow down 20km in heavy rains.

  • @DemonAMVs I guess my point is that it isn't speed that kills in and of itself, despite the propaganda we're fed. It's speed+doing something stupid (which yes, includes unsignalled lane changes or going too fast in the wet). The beautiful thing about the NT when I shot this vid is that they trusted us with the intelligence to choose the appropriate speed for the conditions. When it's clear and dry and there's no one to run into, fast is safe. Bad drivers would frankly be dangerous at any speed.

  • @videowilliams Basically its the bad drivers that causing the government to lower road speeds, You should be trying to introduce better training, like free driving schoolss. They tried adding more hours to L and P plates but all that did is make already barley coping families more poor. Our government can never do anything right.

  • i love this car! HOLDEN! :D

  • @YarraMedia Oh me too! As the old ad put it: "We love football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars." True then in the 70s, true now.

  • So were you ever on Top Gear Australia?

  • @douro20 I'm afraid they never availed themselves of that opportunity! The show's now entering its third season, but ironically enough, the hosts they chose have been its most unpopular feature. Meanwhile, small teams are doing exciting work in online car reviewing here on YouTube. Maybe the future isn't on television at all...

  • 2,834 km at 100km/h...would take nearly three days to travel the whole length from Darwin to Port Augusta.

  • @douro20 I did England to Italy in 16 hours (not including waiting for the ferry) and that's 1640 km, so could do 3280 km in two days so 2,834 km easy. And you call us poms wusses. 2,834 km @ 100 kph = 28 hours, so two 14 hour days.

175 MPH on the autobahns in my Subaru GTB :-) not for two long though I didn't want to keep stopping for fuel and it ain't cheap either. (most of the journey was 120 kph limits).

  • @HomerTheTortoise Nice number-crunching! Are you autistic by any chance? (Ha- just joking.) I'm highly impressed with your 175 mph- you've got me beat- although those autobahns are billiard table smooth compared to our heat-warped highways, aren't they? As a devoted fan of Top Gear UK (still the original and best) I'd never say you poms are wusses behind the wheel.

  • LOL Music from Mad Max! :)

    Great, I love Australia! :)

  • Glad you picked it, Aleksej79ns. And I love it here too!

  • @videowilliams

:) I have watched Mad Max maybe countless time!

  • top gear australia? roflcopter

  • Now, if only you were driving a Ford Falcon....

  • @FrozenBlaze Oh yes, that would be more Mad Max. But for some sad reason, modern Falcons (at least the sixes) are speed-limited to 200-230 km/h.

  • @videowilliams

Didn't know about that (and never really driven a Falcon).

It's kinda like the modern Dodge Challengers.

Sure, the 1970 and 1971 R/T models had horrible steering and the 2009 models improved much over it, but they just aren't as fun anymore. The looks aren't as nice and the "pony car" look overall is just dull (Camaro, Mustang, they all look the same).

Much like the modern Falcon. The old one looked really good and the new one just... Dull. Not as "sweet".

  • I would say the Mad Max movie music was proper!

  • @TUGLY1972 yes it screams "lone bloke in a muscle car ripping through the Aussie outback" like nothing else!

  • I am the night rider!

  • @harleybayo I'm a fuel-injected suicide machine!

  • a V8 diesel with the right set of mods can produce over 800bhp with around 1300 foot pound of torque depending on the enjine and is even better for the enviroment then those stupid hybrids/electric cars that when they make the battery causes more damage than driving an old V8 HQ for 100 years, i would also like to note that there is no scietific proofe that carbon emmissions have any relation to global warming or that global warming even exists. good vid BTW

  • @trodengore Thanks for that input. Certainly CO2's been demonised above all other pollutants as the global warming debate becomes political, and the hybrids- you're right- do damage of their own. When it comes to alternative fuels, I hear Holden are exploring all options (LPG, diesel, hybrid, electric) so we'll see which one wins out when the oil age ends- whatever's cheapest probably (though it'd be nice if it ran clean too). I wouldn't be keen to sign onto a future without cars either.

  • Reminds me of classic Top Gear :D

  • @MaxiTheTaxi High praise indeed :)

  • i vote for you for PM GO THE BLUE TEAM

  • @672119 Thanks for your vote! I'm hearing rumours that the NT's stupid open road speed limit of 130 km/h has either been scrapped or is about to be, since it's seen the road toll actually go up! At any rate, the Coalition Opposition's pushing for it, so I agree with you: go the Blue Team (i.e. Liberal-Country Party) and ditch that nannying Labor Government ASAP.

  • I know one thing now, old Ford XB's are expensive even as rusted out heaps, I know of two complete rust buckets which were purchased for $4000 each. Blame Mad Max.

  • @leokimvideo Yes, Mad Max was truly one of those watershed moments in Australian and indeed world culture, spawning a whole subculture of guys who buy XB's and paint 'em black, add the Concorde nose, supercharger and sidepipes, then go prowling down their local roads as The Road Warrior. Even driving my more refined and sensible Holden SV6, I feel the same.

  • Great presentation..... the first minute when you said how they build the cars to go faster and faster but restrict us with these silly rules... there will always be a percentage of people dying on our roads (mostly young n crazy) and its such a shame with all the super technology in braking and acceleration components nowadays that they cant be used simply for the fun of it! hell thats why we bought them! once you have the nack for driving you cant go wrong.... unless you lose concentration

  • Well put, banditss! From your page, your video comments and your beautiful cammed SS, I see we think and drive alike (though I sure envy your V8). Like you, I've had it up to here with being "protected from myself" by a revenue-raising nanny state who seem determined to screw the joy out of driving completely.

  • @banditss i dont agree with the comment "mostly young and crazy", old people are the biggest hazard as they just cant read the road and know whats happening like young people can.

  • @wacky0pker ----------- true but most times kids eagerness to use that ability over rides their driving ability with pretty disasterous consequences...... not generalising tho unless i drive with them of course...otoh old people whos reactions have faded need to pack up and buy one of those footpath buggies!!!

  • @banditss & wacky0pker: There's a great riff on this topic in "Jeremy's Level Crossing Safety Message" on the TopGear channel which includes the stat that "elderly people are three times more likely to have a crash than their grandchildren."

  • GO THE HOLDEN!

    fords are for spastics

  • @v8freak55: Hear, hear!

  • Nice job David. (I drove a 97 BMW M3 for 9 years, here in the US.)

  • Thanks for watching, Lewis! If memory serves, your M3 would've topped out at approximately the same speed, and if an old review I read were to be trusted, would've felt about as skittish on the uneven road.

  • mate i own a sv6 and had it over 250km/h, i love my commo and yes sv6's are the best.

  • Always love hearing from an owner who's let his SV6 run free. Drive on, my friend!

  • i have the Auto and Active Select in my, the paddels are on the steering wheel. I wanted a manual one but the auto was the only one that was there and i was looking around for over 6 months to find a manual one, they must be rare?. But anyways i agree with you when you say "anything smaller feels like a toy" that is so true.

  • You've got balls taking a holden up to that speed, they become so unstable. Even back when it was legal, I wouldn't do it.

  • It's true the engine has the suspension overmatched- it didn't ride like a BMW M5. But if, like the Germans, we still had roads where such high speeds were not illegal, I'm sure this problem would be fixed by the engineers.

  • Nothing beats the holden V6's. just look at mine.

  • Some would argue the V8's beat 'em... but your VT Turbo sure is a piece of work!

  • Fantastic video David, with hindsight im not sure why they chose the hosts they did. This is much better than anything I could pluck from any episode of Top Gear Australia by a long shot. Although I will admit I am not the Holden fan I once was, our VZ has been faultless. Can't say the acclaim lives up to any performance credentials that the SV6 does however haha. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

    Cheers,

    Mikey

  • Why thank you Mikey! That's praise indeed. It is ironic, given the 4,000 entries they got, that they could have cast the show with great hosts ten times over, yet they chose an annoying trio that no one likes. Oh well, at least the rest of us get to be seen on YouTube.

Glad to hear your VZ Acclaim is treating you well (the VZs generally have developed a reputation for being "tough as") and I look forward to watching some of your videos too!

  • nice rated 5 *

  • Much obliged to ya, desertrose! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • absolutly awsome , u would a part in toipgear no probs , good to see a holden being used too , well done

  • Thank you, tecra! Nice to see a Holden used in your page background too.

  • would be better if it was a ute =P

  • Certainly would be more Australian. But I'd be worried about the lack of weight in the back- those undulations of the Stuart Highway turn into rapid bumps at 200+ kays.

  • It's the thing the Australian car industry builds best. LOL!

  • Sad but true, mate. Like America, we do big fast cheap gas guzzlers better than anyone, but can't build a small econobox for shit.

  • Oh is that what you meant? I guess in that aspect they can be considered muscle cars, but still...

  • great video mate best of luck with the whole top gear thing

  • Glad you liked it, Ferosity! Top Gear Australia seems to be dying an awful death, but we Aussies still love cars, so one way or another we'll keep putting them on the screen.

  • i LOVED your VID and reading all the comments, i have driven my 4cyl and 6cyl at speeds well above 200 in safe legal area's =p, and i also am about to buy a VZ SV6, so hope i loike it as much as you . would you say that the 190kilowatts vz sv6 is better than a vy s supercharged? im thinking its ( the VZ) is much better and offers much more. plenty of spots to "stretch the legs" in Melb that are safe.... Deer park bypass 4 one. thankyou Mr williams and all the best with your Career. =)

  • Why thank you, pootang, for your compliments, and for reading all these comments. (One does wonder sometimes if anybody bothers.)

I think you're making an excellent choice in buying VZ: it marked the peak of the evolution of the VT-VZ platform, so by then they'd prettymuch ironed out all the bugs. The VY S was known for having a grumpy motor and a rather lumpy torque curve, and only came with 5 speed gearbox instead of a 6.

  • Oh, here's a tip: the VZ's engine got slightly detuned (losing 5Nm & 5kW) to satisfy new emissions standards in January '06, so if you can find one made before then, all the better. (I lucked into one that was built in Dec '05.)

All the best with driving fast and safe in the police state that Victoria has become. We drive and we vote: it has to be possible to get the worst of these crazed restrictions lifted again!

  • I picked my VZ 05 up SV6 fuckin only done 66000 k's I was rapped.

  • Thanks for that I've been fuckin wondering if there were cameras on there for ages now man lol.

  • All aboard the Deer Park Bypass then. Thank God one of our freeways is still free!

  • Not for much longer most likely.

  • you have a really good point there, sitting on 180 in mine feels like your just cruzing. they are a fantastic car ey.

    well done mate!

  • Thanks, sydwyz! Yes, it's a magnificent piece of machinery, especially on the open road. I'm glad to hear you let yours stretch its legs to 180 too!

  • did u say white peeple r sed 2 go nuts. y?

  • The constant heat and humidity of the tropics does your head in, especially during the long wet season- hence the expression "going troppo".

  • Hey mate i have a VZ SV6 (in manual) and i agree completely, 160 is really comfy in that car you would hardly know you're doing that speed. Have you noticed that 4th and 5th are very similar ratios?

  • G'day bacon, I peeked at your page and like your wheels! The salesman who sold me mine said "You've got a pretty big horse there, mate. Make sure you take it out to the country to stretch its legs." Those things were made for the open road! Almost seems cruel to use them for city commuting, doesn't it?

Apart from the leap from 1st to 2nd, all the ratios seem pretty close together... but we really need 'em, don't we, to muscle that big girl up to speed...

  • @bacon304 yeah, i just got one too. before i knew it i was at 150:O

i was just going down the highway. in my old calais you'd know about it once you hit 130. 4th and 5h are similar, i often use 5th in built up areas

  • @bacon304 yeah, i just got one too. before i knew it i was at 150:O

i was just going down the highway. in my old calais you'd know about it once you hit 130. 4th and 5h are similar, i often use 5th in built up areas

  • Is this the new age Mad Max? lol

  • Yup- Mad Max Lite!

  • top speed of 240km? from experience..nah.haha

  • According to James May in the Bugatti Veyron video to which this one responded, 270 horsepower will grant you a top speed of 155 mph. The SV6 has a tad less- 255 horsepower or 190 kilowatts- so by doing 150 mph (240 kmh) it did exactly what the physics would predict.

  • That was GREAT!!!

  • Kinda ironic that the town for the road with no speed limit is called 'darwin'

    darwin awards?

    Survival of the fittest?

  • Come to America if you want to see some real performance cars

    the ones that we bought.

  • Hi Nirion2-

My very first car was a V-8 1985 Ford Mustang GT, driven in America while at college in L.A. Don't tell your police, but I took it up to 142 mph in the Utah desert back in 1989. It was my favourite vehicle ever.

  • God bless America for the invention of the muscle car! And curse it for its univerally low speed limits- not just in towns, which I agree with, but in areas where we clearly could drive faster, like those nearly empty freeways through the desert. There should be places where a high performance car is allowed to do what it was built for. Must we constantly be "protected from ourselves"?

  • exeeding the speed limit?!

    why the audacity!

    =P

  • nothing special but thank's for information!

  • You're welcome, dq!

  • Comment removed

  • lmao get a decent car it looks like a car u got in a garage sale

  • Uh-huh.

  • God help you if a kangaroo steps on to the road while your doing 150mph.

  • You could see for miles out there, so it seemed unlikely, but if one jumped out the key would be not to swerve.

  • @mccoigk the roos you see at night are the ones which will kill you but for $6.00 at any good car part you can fix that too by buying some shoo roo's

  • @mccoigk god help the kangaroo, thats what bull bars are for.

  • 0-100km/hr in 8 sec and you call that a performance car? LOL

  • And even at that middling level of performance, it's still capable of doing twice the speed limit, so the laws are clearly screwed up.

  • nice video!

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Love the Mad Max music. ;)

  • Glad you picked it!

  • Very fun video Dave and you are right about the US losing its freedoms. I hope you keep doing your part for Global Warming!

  • You can count on me there, Stephen. They can take away our freedoms but they can't take away our cars!

  • America seems to be losing its freedoms one by one... It's very sad.

  • Ha! What about Oz mate, we lost ours years ago! The national anthem goes like this- Australians all let us rejoice for we are young and..... um err um ah.... :)

  • You've got a point there. Here's a great line from the movie JFK: "A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against its government."

  • Glad you liked the outback scenery, Jim. It was pretty wild to me too!

  • Speed limits are set for below average drivers (concentration, reaction time, car control ) with below average cars, handling, braking etc -like trucks and 4wd's etc).

There is a diffence between being a "good driver" with no speeding fines or accidents, and someone who has good car control when something jumps out in front of them.

    Cheers.

  • You said it, mif!

  • Could have picked a performance car for that piece, but I suppose you're working with what you've got huh? :)

I totally agree with the cash camera bit, I drive alot for my job and am constantly staring at my speedo, making sure I don't go 3km/h over the limit :(

I really don't enjoy driving as much, mainly because of this reason.

I suppose the government tells us If we don't speed and we don't drink, then we must be fantastic drivers hey?

PS: loved the Mad Max2 music!

    Needs a Black Ford coupe

  • Ha- cash cameras- great term. Yes, they sure do make driving a chore, not to mention less safe, since they turn our eyes to our speedos, not the road. Performance-wise, the SV6 ain't all that quick away from the lights, but give it credit for hitting 240 kays... though Max's Interceptor would sure look better doing it!

  • Yeah,ok 240 is pretty good, hope the tailshaft is ok and the tyres were the correct speed rating :)

In Victoria, they keep telling us they only put speed cameras in areas with a long history of fatalities and serious injury, that said I can't seem to work out their logic for putting them on brand new highways and freeways before anyone has driven on them...

Either they are designing new roads to be blackspots, or more likely they just want your cash and are full of BS.

  • Took it right to the limit of its V-rated Bridgestone Potenzas... which I guess must be the reason why they limit even Commodore SS's and Falcon Turbos to 240 & 230 respectively: to protect the tyres. (Thus, by cheating, I'm as fast as a V8!)

Though tyres couldn't be the reason why the latest non-turbo Falcons have been electronically cruelled to just 200. I fear the creeping hand of over-zealous lawyers made that choice. These cars are made to travel at speed- then hobbled at birth!

  • You have my sympathies for living in Victoria- the Police State when it comes to speed enforcement- and you're right: they're building speed cameras into all the brand new projects up here too. It's not about safety, it's about dollars. Clearly it's time we serious drivers yelled "Enough!"

  • I remember going to car shows when I was a kid in the 80's and seeing crazy concept cars like Mitsubishi's HSRII etc and thinking by the year 2000 we will be driving so fast, but in reality just the opposite has occured, as you mentioned in your clip.

Perhaps it's time for a good hard look at stinking government policy in the "nanny" states...

PS: I wish car ads could show cars going fast and race cars on tracks etc, then leave it up to the consumer to work out what is right.

  • I'm dumber now. Thank you Australia for sending RedFlex to America! Shame on you!

  • Sorry for sending you RedFlex: sounds like driving in America just got worse. Once a government gets a taste for those relentless speed camera revenues, it's like drying out an addict to wean them off it.

  • Your really good! Better luck next time

  • Thanks, mate!

  • That was really cool Dave. how did you go, did you win a spot?

    you're a natural!

  • Thanks, mate!

No, I didn't win a spot, but now that it's on the show is being critically savaged, especially over the lack of chemistry between the hosts. So perhaps I avoided a slot on the Titanic...

In a couple of months, an American friend whose YouTube name is filmgoob will be flying out to shoot an expanded version of this piece, and- fingers crossed- we hope to sell it as a show.

  • Thanks for your comments! I enjoyed your video as well. I'm so jealous. You get Holdens and you got to drive one to the limit.

  • Thanks for coming to see it, Shelton!

You don't need to be too jealous: I still miss my first American muscle car- the tight and sexy '85 Mustang GT I had at college in L.A.- and treasure the memory of taking it up to its own limit (142 mph/230kmh) on a freeway in the desert in '89. A little scarier than the Holden at that speed- and not exactly within the law- but I was young...

  • Did you ever get the hosting position you wanted??? Miss ya'!!

  • Not on Top Gear Australia, Eric, though the odds were 3 in 4000, so I can't be too upset. I just consider this short a pilot for a motoring show yet to be made!

  • So, when are you making it? ;)

  • A colleague and I are looking at making an extended version of this at the end of the year, for him to shop around L.A. along with a written series proposal... We'll see how it goes...

  • Golly, Kris, you Europeans are so uptight!

Here we don't sweat the small stuff: we drive on the wrong side as well!

I read recently that Britain had decided it was time to drive on the right hand side of the road like the rest of Europe. But the change over process would need to be managed carefully to avoid mass chaos. An expert group was formed to recommend the best approach.

The result? The changeover should be done incrementally to reduce risk, starting with vehicles over 10 tons.

  • great video williams

but uhm..did you know your steeringwheel is on the WRONG side of your car? I drive a mercedes benz diesel..I need not worry about speedlimits by the time it reaches the speed i have arived on my destination lol

BUT on the other hand...my very european mercedes has the steering wheel where it should be..gosh..poor you, such a nice car..such a huge flaw

    lol

    love from europe

    kris

  • very good video.that is some speed.mary

  • Excellent Video!!!

  • continued...

They never seem to think that all these people possibly get killed because of frustration of slower drivers, or the fact that our highways are goat tracks, with to many fuckin' B Doubles on the road, but that's another story.

  • Man, what a rant! I couldn't have put it better myself.

  • We also have to take into account (something the polies don't ever say) that the amount of new drivers on the road is approx 170,000 per annum. I'm sure there aren't that many folks handing in their licenses, so per capiter, there are many less lives taken each year. Yet all you see is ads on TV talking about speeding this and speeding that...continued

  • Notice also that nearly all of the speed cameras are at the bottom of hills? You have to ride the brakes, so you don't go over the limit.

Another thing regarding this idiousy is, I read somewhere that the actual road toll related to speeding, is in the region of 2-4% of the deaths annually, yet we have these draconian laws...continued

  • continued...Open road (100), built up area (80), residential (60), now, since the John Coward government, we have (40k, 50k, 60k, 70k, 80k, 90k, 100k, 110k).

No wonder there's so many deaths on the road. Everyone's watching the speedo instead of the road...continued

  • Yeah, talk about a wrought.

As a previous comment said "The nanny factor is alive and well in Oz".

As anyone with a brain knows, these laws have and always been there for one reason, REVENUE!!!

Remember the good old days (60k, 80k, 100k, 110k) , everyone knew what speed they were supposed to be doing from the area they were in i.e. ...continued

  • Tractor trailers with 3 trailers and you're driving on the wrong side of the road!!! (just kidding)

  • Yeah, everything's upside down and back to front in Oz. But those road trains make me proud to be Australian. Thanks for watching!

  • Why you arent the host for Top gear Australia beats me, that was a great video to watch. Keep up the good work dave!

  • great - loved every minute of it. you should get your own show!!!

  • road related deaths have increased in the northern territory since they lowered the speed limit.

  • Not surprising. Those speed limits make it more dangerous, not less, on the long empty roads. Drivers "lose it" from boredom & frustration.

  • Classic work mate loved it, I was thinking at first i was only going to watch 1min, Meh watched the lot and you did great hope you get the gig.

  • "The NSW Roads and Traffic Authority have declared their latest anti-speeding television campaign to be of the most successful ever. The advertisment in question ("Speeding - no one thinks big of you") featured a bevy of unimpressed women waggling their little fingers at speeding drivers.

The little-finger-waggle has become the universal gesture for an undersized willy, so the ads are not so subtly suggesting that if you drive too fast you must have a little bitty one."

    Wowsers 1

    Logic 0

  • Well, well... marking another 1000 views this week. In celebration, I offer this multiple choice question:

Confucius say that man who drive fast car also have __________!!!

    a. small ego

    b. small brain

    c. small penis

    d. all of the above

    :-D

  • Congrats Dave!! Love your questionaire Dawn, whisper the answer to me, don't want any hurt feelings...lol Question for Dave?? Is there an International gesture for the opposite of a little bitty one?

  • Shanon!!! How delightful your reply is. Sadly, I don't think Dave will answer my questionnaire so its anybody's guess. We can (d)etermine the answer by (d)eciding if men really (d)o know themselves.

As to the international gesture for eenie beenie peenie... I'm thinking Dave already provided the info above: the little-finger-waggle... :-D

  • (D)awn, you seem to be hinting the (d)efinitive answer is (d). I've got two words for you, young lady: "penis envy".

And to answer your question, Shanon, the international gesture for a truly enormous willy is... a Commodore SV6!

  • Gee, "penis envy"... you think so... hmmmm, maybe to the uninitiated, the performance power of a multiple orgasm just doesn't measure up to the wow-power of a drive around the park in a Commodore SV6 (ho-hum)...

But whatever... I'm just a lame female with no penis, etc., etc....

  • According to a survey in the UK's Daily Mail:

"The majority of men remember their first car better than their first kiss, while younger gents think getting behind the wheel is better than getting a lover.

The paper also reported that a majority of respondents said owning their first car ranked higher than their first embrace, their first girlfriend or their 18th birthday."

It's like this Dawn: girls and orgasms come and go, but it's your car that gives you freedom.

    It's a guy thing.

  • Yeah, yeah... survey, shmervey... I know the true value of a "survey". I'm thinking the respondents to the UK Daily Mail haven't had a real woman: the female equivalent of your Commodore SV6 as opposed to a Yugo... certainly not by 18 anyway...

But since you brought it up, I can see how a car would be "emotionally safe" compared to a woman. The real thrills don't come without risk! Girls, orgasms... they don't have to come and go any more than a car: that, my friend, is a fear thing.

  • Thanks for telling me Dave. I haven't seen any Commodore SV6 in this part of the world, but now that I know what to watch for...in the meantime I know where I can view one with it's owner, over and over....varooooooooooooooooom..happy driving!

  • It was a great video.Did the horse really win?

I might be a wowser concerning some issues to do with motoring, but I'ved lived in the Territory.

  • Hi Dave! Lots of Love, T,W&M.

  • Good one David!

I missed the bit first time where you said it is more than fashion... it's a strap-on!

    LOL

    Sweet.

check out my audition... i write off a car!

  • hehhe.

  • Enjoyable, Entertaining & Interesting.Good work

  • Had a ball watching this. I think you display a really genuine interest in it all and I like the way you present yourself and talk. Really enthusiastic, good luck!

  • I agree... I live in NT and I cant believe this damn limited highway, that was a great stretch of road which is now useless! Great vid mate

  • A great way to commemorate the closing of one of the greatest chapters in Australia's motoring history.

Nice video, I'd be shocked if you didn't get a call back. Good luck! :D

  • Hooray, an audition vid that addresses one of the great blights on Australian motoring ... the nanny state mentality towards speeding. This is the sort of issue Aussie Top Gear should run at. Good luck.

  • AAAAAAYYYYY!!! That guy is FLYING down the WRONG side of the ROAD!!!!

oh, wait... that's what they do down under, isn't it?

Dave! I had no idea you were going for an on-air role! How freaking cool! You make an awesome show host!! Your enthusiasm for cars is so genuine, it's infecting even me! And you know how not-excited I am about cars! Good work! If it were up to me, I'd hire you in a heartbeat!

  • Woohoo...Love Top Gear here in the UK, good luck ..

  • WooHoo!!! nothing like the adrenaline rush that comes from pushing the pedal to metal. Thanks for taking us on a chills and thrill ride. You have everything they are looking for. If you don't make it...their loss. Awesome video!

  • you d be good at the job... i hope you get it!

  • Oh, yes... sweet car!!! ;-)

  • Great work... really fun to watch... very amusing! I totally enjoyed witnessing the speed demon in your personality. I hope your audition video earns you the role you desire... goodluck!!!
