  • 1 dislike. Must be a rap lover with no clue about music.

  • Its Defo a shecter strat he used on alchemy.

Shecter strats were better in the early 80's than Fender as cbs still owned and cut corners on the build quality..

  • Mark Knopfler: Laconic, languid but I LOVE IT! The guy's a guitar god!

  • alguien la podria traducir?

  • To me, this is undoubtedly one of...oh no...I mean THE most beautiful songs to ever grace my ears. So unbelievably beautiful and addictive. I am completely spellbound by its miraculous power.

Mark Knopfler. A very cool and genuinely humble gentleman. An extraordinarily gifted guitarist with greatness and uniqueness oozing out of his pores. He brings pure magic into this world. Don't let me go on and on with how incerdibly sexy he is....

It's simply impossible not to love this awesome man!

  • BRILLIANT!

  • One brilliant man, no one can get a sound out of a guitar, is he an alien, no human plays a guitar like him. sen far king sensational

  • hypnotizing.... mesmerizing ....an arch to another dimension

  • Bought this LP today at a antique store, had to come & watch this again...thanks for posting!

  • Dire Straits had a multitude of musical highlights however Tunnel of Love is the best thing they ever did.

  • simply fantastic

  • 3:14

Love the "dont let me be misunderstood" lick, bass follows nicely.

  • anyone knows what guitar is that?

  • @Smargiasso33

    its a schecter strat copy

  • @andywellsey thanks! :)

  • @andywellsey why would it be a copy?

  • @Oneill9293 because its not a fender

  • @andywellsey oh okay. I thought you meant it was a copy of a schecter strat.

  • @andywellsey I think that it's a Pensa Suhr Strat. He used them a lot in the 80's

  • @andywellsey Hey Andy, do you have this song, but only audio? (live at wembley, 1985)

  • Gives me shivers...

  • where have the boyz gone???? it is sooo not fair to desert your time honoured fans... pick up the instruments and give us one last album ffs,,, we really don't want to be watching Britains got talent anymore

  • @jay101165 Whole heartedly agree with your comment. All these shows produce is over-rated Karioke singers.

  • Bruce Springsteen did this song first back in the 1980's

  • one of the greatest songs ever wroted!! great lyrics, music and expresion!!!

  • he plays 'stop in the name of love' at 2:23 to 2:42 and smiles

  • You're right!

    Never thought of that.

It shows you that even after many years you still can find something new in really great songs. But you need to be in a good company! Did you notice that at 3.15 and after he plays a few notes from "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" made famous in the mid 60's by The Animals from New Castle, hence the quotation?

Great song by a truly great band!

  • he celebrates this song

  • back then Knophler looked like a skinny, balding little twat, but theres something about him that just makes him the coolest man of all time

  • Amazing version of an Amazing song!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chris White on the Sax, watch Romeo and Juliet live a great Sax lead in the middle.

  • Terry Williams played well. But the drum solo at 7:00 was very poor. There is for the drummer appear, though the spots are always on Mark!

  • mark jesteś najlepszy

  • it dosen't get any better than this

  • THis is finally Mark Knopfler i know..

  • best quitarist ever!

  • i dont know about the best ever to be that he would have to dislodge eric clapton, jimi hendrix, or even steve ray vaughn, but he is in my top 5 i dont know where tho??

  • @ziogiottfj GREAT MY FRIEND

  • the drums isn't pick withers but terry williams. pick left the band in 1982. this concert is from 1985.

  • July 4th 1985 date I was at this gig.

  • mark knpfer mi fa venire i brividi quando lo sento

  • I'm in loooooooove!

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • I was at the gig at wembley arena the night of "Live Aid"... the Straits played "Live aid" 6 till 6.20 and then did a full gig in wembley arena the same evening as live aid went on in the stadium.. i travelled down from Newcastle with a friend who is related to a member of the band and we got to meet the band backstage after the concert... They were all amazing , talented, nice and normal guys, i,m pleased to see after almost 25 years they still are albeit working in a different direction...

  • @TyneBridge56 .. lucky man!!! Tell us more about it.

  • REAL music

llora santana, llora hendrix, llora clapton, llora slash, llora van halen

  • For me the best 'Tunnel of Love live gig!' Love it! Thnx for uploading.

  • great song, absolutly love dire straits & mark knopfler

  • Terry Wiliams was more gas in the music, but never had the drum solo in the midle as the Pick Witters.

  • c du mozart waw

  • This must have been DS on the top of their hill. Never seen them more inspired and together, with special credits to the backing vocals (un-DS-like).

Does anyone know why Pick Withers, the very sensitive first drummer, ever left?

  • Anyone have a version of this song where the audio doesn't mess up at the halfway point? I'm trying to put this on my iPod!

  • STOP! In the name of LOVE!

  • Not fair man.. I wasn't even born when they performed at Wembley back then..

  • Tata je objasnio neke stvari...

  • thanks for posting andy.

  • this still gives me goose pimples mahn

    what a song!!

  • brilliant song

  • Is teh start even part of Tunnel of love?!

Great song though, one of my favourites in the world besides sultans and walk of life.

  • theres a bit of 'stop in the name of love' in there i think, love the volume pedal in this.

  • nah the beginning is just a jam...im assuming most of that little masterpiece in itself was made up on the spot. the actual Tunnel of Love starts at 3:46

  • The start, before MK introduces the song - is jam, as a;ready said. The part after MK has spoken - and on the album if you have it - is the Carousel Waltz.

I was there when they did this live - it was fabulous!!

  • album????there's an album of this concert???how is called?????

  • not sure if there's one of the concert. There's the brothers in arms concert live on album, for sure. However on the albums tunnel of love is on it is preceded by the Carousel Waltz. I think it's on several, including Making Movies, Money For Nothing and Sultans of Swing too I think (not looking at them right now, so I might be wrong!).

  • it's on the Alchemy album too. btw what did you mean brothers in arms concert live on album?

  • Nice- thank you. Most of the Alchemy stuff was taken off You Tube but this is good too!

  • Best of the best !!!!!! Mark is forever the king of guitar. Make me happiest every time.

  • they are kings amongst men!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • stuanhay, I meant to give you a thumbs up, but I gave you a thumbs down by accident, apologies...:(

  • This is one of the best live performances I have ever seen, I had this video when I was 12 yrs old, at the time I was falling in love with Dire Straits, life, cross country running, and Hi Tech Sneekers, lol. This is from the happiest days of my life, and I could play every guitar note on a brush pole. Fantastic days, memories and song.

Robbie McA, this one is for you !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jim..

  • For me, this was by far, the best Dire Straits Live, lineup. The lineup on alchemy, just didn't have the presence that these boys did. in that, I mean the addition of Terry Williams, Jack Sony (a real showman), Guy Fletcher and the Sax Player. What makes this so memorable for me is the addition of the Instrumental interlude at the intro, which although it was on Alchemy too, just wasn't the same. Thank you very much for posting this, I've got it on VCR, but my copy is well worn out.

  • dont wish to be picky but terry williams played on the wembly alchemy gigs too! he is truly awesome!

  • Pure class!

  • the perfect song.

  • outstanding you have got to watch the second half

  • Thanks so much for this. THE Dire Straits line up, driven by the fantastic Welsh drum wizard Terry Williams. This was amazing, thanks again!

  • tery is amazing, played with meat loaf as well, if you love knopfler check out my mate at direstraits tribute . net

  • Yes, Terry is amazing. He will ever be the greatest drummer in the world...

  • I am a 24 year old rugby player and I was actually bawling my eyes out after that. That was the most mind blowing piece of music i have ever heard. If I was there I would have fainted out of sheer emotional euphoria. Dire Straits are fu**ing genius' Tunnel of Love, Heavy Fuel, Planet of New Orleans, Romeo and Juliet, You and Your Friend, Ride Accross the River and all the rest will go down in infamy! The cohesion between the band is superlative! Long live the best rock and roll band ever

  • he can realy make a guitar cry

  • this versions hella good ur trippin, mark is the shit, he plays the first solo completely note for note

  • knopfler is the best guitar player...

  • This is amazing. Thank you so much for posting. Been listening to this since I was 8 years old! Still love it

  • I would say, this is the best live version of Tunnel Of Love.

  • this is from the best concert they did thats why

  • Thanks for posting this, my friend. This is absolutely one of the best versions of this song.
