yeah the old lady isn't as fast as she could be. In my other vid with the 6-speed gearbox she does it in just 8 seconds. But its not bad for a 20 year old car with 350.000KM experience with all original gaskets, valves, bearings, etc. in place which also runs on autogas (allthough not in these videos offcourse) but the venturi valve which creates the vacuum needed for autogas installed on the air-intake takes some power as well. However I'm still extremely pleased with this car! :D

It should do around 180KM/h but some ga faster some don't depends on the state of the engine!

It's a 1.6 carburated angine, should do about 80HP.

If you want a fast 1.6 BX you should look for the 16TRI that one has the 105HP multipoint engine from the peugeot 1.6GTI.

But the 160HP 1.9 16V is the fastest BX made by Citroen.

Also it has one of the most beautifull inlet manifolds ever mounted in a BX!

Not really, the BX Sport was actually faster and more powerful than the GTi 8v.

hahaha just a standard XU9J4 D6C which has been fitted in the peugeot 309GTI16, 405MI16 and offcourse BX GTI 16Valve. These engines are absolute beasts. I'm way past 350.000KM with it now and it still drives like this. Only difference now is the 6-speed gearbox I've fitted, more gears to make it growl! :)

I've owned a ZX with the same disel engine, you can't break it and it's such a smooth ride!

Yeah those turbo diesels are a very good drive! I'm more fan of the 16V engine because of its raw power but you just can't break those diesels. I've owned a diesel ZX which has the same engine as the non turbo diesel BX, very VERY good engine!

Owned a 88, with a pipe thru the cat, and pipercross, they are really fast, u have to have driven one of theese to understand how fast they acctually are. There is no other car with a 2litre engine from this period that is as nimble as this little rocket. In my case I just wish they had bigger brakes.................. The BX is a great car with a big personality in the bx16v it's a stormer. Just missed to buy a 91, black with black leather. Bit sad it was really cheap to.

It really is a fun car to have. And leather interior is great! looks good, sits fantastic. Too bad you've missed the black one, but there are still some for sale. Perhaps you've got to go abroad for it. There is a very nice one for sale in Sweden, not expensive either.

wooow nice car :) my dad had 19 GTI but with 8 valves and it was monster back in days :) and now im looking car for me :P i have to decide between 405 T16 and BX GTI with 160hp :D what would u recomend? :)) greetings :))

Both cars you mention are very nice, the T16 is faster but much rarer, and the BX is rare as it is.

I'm really fond of the 16V engine (XU9J4 D6C) perhaps the 405MI16 is a possibility too. The same as the T16, but without a turbo. If you have the possibility to buy a 405 T16 I'd do that, thats extremely rare, in any other case I'd go for the BX (personally) the looks of it and offcourse the hydraulics are more appealing to me :)

BX 16v is very light with a powerful engine (160 hp, in France) so that car is a real bomb!!! still able to smash some BMW's without blinking....

When I made this film I had my old telephone which I could jam in my dash so it would be stuck. Thats why the picture is so steady. I guess monkeydude thought it to be fake because of that. Anyway, I just uploaded a new movie, shot on the same highway but this time with the 6-speed gearbox. To bad there was some traffic, otherwise I could've gone faster maybe. Anyway, the old lady is getting old and tired :) an engine overhauling is coming up in the next 3 years.

nah its a standard 160bhp 16v model. now its fitted with a 6speed gearbox of a peugeot which indeed makes it faster. however when this video was made it was completely standard.

Jammer dat op het einde de snelweg ophield waar ik reed, anders had ik nog wel door kunnen gaan (Zei het langzaam) Ik heb een filmpje met de 6-bak, maar nog niet met de prestaties, ik durf niet echt hard te rijden met de winterbanden die ik er nu onder heb liggen.

maar 155PK is ook niet misselijk hoor! heb wel eens een stukje gegleeen in een 2.0I 8V met 122 PK, en dat viel me al helemaal niet tegen van die ZX, maar dat zit meer in de ondertoeren he.

Mijn BX heeft trouwens 158PK (tis een Belgje)

Yeah I can imagine, mine has given me some hard times too but for me its a hobby and not a car I have to relie on, on the other hand its proven to be quite trustworthy since I've repaired and changed allmost every part on it :D when I bought it it wasn't nearly in the state it is now.

and thats how it is :) most people don't know the potential of this car. Since I've got the 6-speed gearbox of a Peugeot 306GTI installed its much faster. It'll do 210KM/h in 5th gear before I need to shift to 6th gear. Its a monster right now :P

BX16V kicks ass. Have one myself that recently just passed 100.000 miles. To bad they eat gearboxes if you drive them like they were ment to be driven, I'm on my third now ;)

Anyways, I'm very happy with the 6-speed gearbox from peugeot, untill now it seems very worthy to my BX :D

My BX has done 324.000 KM's so far, its a model MK2 (imported from Belgium so no cat and 158BHP)

In July is fitted a six speed gearbox from a Peugeot 306GTI6.

A little work has to be done, but I've driven so far 2000 kilmometers with the six speed, its a different car right now :)

bloody fast too, 7,4s 0-100 is an everyday task (and that is for a 1,040 kg. 4-door saloon, 1,900cc, without turbo nor VTI...)
