i have to disagree that there are no new ideas in fashion and that not all fashion designers reference fashion past as an inspiration. so hussien chalyan is not original to you and comme des gracons and issey miyake in there day. only commercial fashion really references the past or trends.
you think minimalism was a good thing? fashion would not be boring if she did not exist. it would not be so restrictive for the designers if u ask me. no wonder there is no zeitgeist in the 2000s everyone is worried that their work is not conceptual or interlectual. fashion is about asthetics not cerebral concepts and taking risk to find new form of beauty
WELL,come on...it's a kind of naive affirmation the one you did.
prada (and lang and jil sander) was the first to "invent" minimalism...i mean 90s style!
just like 60s and 70s...she DID the 90s with her minimalism...
it's not a question of "faults" if in the 2000s no so many designers HAVE INVENTED a zeitgeist' style, but most of all it's not her fault! If it wasnt for her TODAY FASHION would be such a boring affair.
did you ever consider that miuccia influence on taking inspiration from fashion history (vintage) is the reason why in the current decade we are living in does not have a look of it's own like in all the other decades such as 60's, 70's etc.
lol NO fashion is "original" or of its own mind..there are no new ideas, only better ones..the 60s did what the 20s did, and the 70s did what the 30s and 40s did, just in the "of the moment" way to echo the times..study fashion/costume history
hell, oscar de la renta, dolce&gabanna&countless others used Edwardian sleeves for their Spring 09 collections...everyone borrows and makes it of the moment
Madame Prada is brilliance.. et what a sweeet voice she has : ) I love her eternelle

@gradusm Prada's collections actually are considered very intellectual and not obvious beauty.
