  • i believe his story. someone very close to me went through something very similar when they were only 5 years old and i was 3, so we had never heard of this man's story. then when the fire in the sky movie came out we were watching it together and he freaked out screaming and crying. years later he was bent down to pick something up and a metal object fell out of his ear. he threw it away. he never talks about, doesn't want to. so good thing mister Walton is brave enough to speak out..

  • @human0un yeah, in my opinion, a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon because they want attention or they have other problems so I would be hesitant to believe a lof of the abductees or contactees. Having said that, tho, that doesn't mean all of the close encounter cases or abduction cases are false. I believe the Walton case, as well as some others, really happened. What's most impressive is that all of them passed the lie detector test except for one guy who had legal issues.

  • This case is one of the greatest that there ever was. Firstly, it happened 1975, where was no internet or google that people can do a research and make a vivid story. There weren't much Ufos stories and shit. There were 6 eyewitnesses who took polygraph. And this wasn't a joke back then, friends were accused of murderer which i think is a serious business. Its been a long time and yet he sticks to his story. Why would he tell things that noone believe him with ships, stars, light beams and shit.

  • I saw Travis on Moment of Truth as well and felt horrible when the polygraph machine claimed that he was being deceptive--especially in front of Michael Shermer. However keep in mind that The consensus among scientists is that a polygraph examination is not a valid means of ascertaining whether or not an individual is being truthful or deceptive . . . it is estimated that the exam is only accurate about 61% of the time . . .

  • Although I think most UFO alien abductees are telling the truth, I do not think Walton is. He does not come across at all like other abductees. He could be recounting a road accident, not something otherwordly, highly strange, fundamentally unfathomable. Also, the experience itself, while superficially like other abductee experences, is not at all like them in detail - and it is this detail, familiar to serious UFO researchers, that is the hallmark of the authentic case.

  • There were 2 independant witnesses. A couple were out hunting and from a nearby ridge they saw the UFO and they saw it zap Travis. They reported it to the authorities and were told to keep quiet about it unless the crew were convicted of murder. But Travis came back...

  • Read Chapter 3 of "UFO Abductions: A Dangerous Game" (1989) by Phillip Klass. Mr. Klass, a famous debunker, casts heavy shadow on Travis' story. According to Klass, there WAS a lie detector test that Travis took shortly after the incident. The test was given in a Scottsdale hotel by Jack McCarthy, one of the most respected lie-detector men in Arizona at the time. His conclusion? "Gross deception!" Other info in this chapter casts lots of doubt on Travis' story. I'm just sayin'.

  • I worked in Snowflake and the woman I worked with grew up there and knows Travis and his wife. She said that Travis was never one to seek out publicity and that she believes this really DID happen to Travis. The people in town DON'T hate him and my daughter dated his nephew for a while. I, too, believe Travis's story.

  • I met Travis Walton in person and had a private talk with him in 1993. He seem credible but the driver Mike was really credible. He told me his side of the story. Was he convincing? Yes, very convincing. He told me the UFO was the most perfect, beautiful thing he had ever seen.....he said it was just as exciting as seeing a brand new shiny Chevy Corvette in your driveway.

  • Walton was at a LAPIS conference I attended some years back. Tho' I was prepared to give credence to his account (most abductees come across as genuine) I was a little uneasy about him. After half a lifetime in ufology you begin to get an intuitive feel about these things. There is no spark of awe. Nothing has touched his deep centre. I did not know until later that he had failed the first polygraph test. Of course he passed the second, so one has to reserve judgement.

    I have not watch the show I will take a look. However understand the person who wrote the book on the techniques of polygraphing was hired by a famous skeptic name Black who polygraphed Walton two of his friends. Their rating was 97% telling the truth. If Walton was lying why would he go on the show. This guy had enough experience with good and bad test.. I don't know the shows ethics. I no for a fact some shows( Mystery Quest) bullshit. I will look into it though.

  • @Mikod2 all lie detectors really do is tell when there is a change like when you get nervous, when you get nervous on a lie detector you can say the truth but it will detect it as a lie, and if you are not nervous and tell a lie it will read it as the truth so they are not reliable at all...I dont know if this guy is telling the truth or not but that is how lie detectors work.

  • @Mikod2 I don't think he's knows conclusively exactly what actually happened to him when he was rendered unconscious - you may notice that previous tests proved he was telling the truth but the details of abduction experience were somewhat inconclusive. I've seen a similar ship to the one he speaks of - it looks like a slightly flattened ball and it glows orange(usually) when its plasma shielding system is active.

  • @SuperiorMind I also notice that his description of "floors" curving into "walls" and outlines of doors is consistent with something another person would descibe - although the source of lighting was at times not apparent. Also the description of the surround-stereoscopic navigation display was way ahead of his time -- we still do not have such technology to my knowledge.

    I've spoken to Travis, and he's just a normal nice man who's down to earth (pun intended) and who to me seems like an honest man who is not lying about his experience.

    Travis is an honest dude, and his story is an amazing one so naturally there is going to be haters, and debunkers. But he's telling the truth. IMO

Now, I don't know if this guy is lying or telling the truth, but a lie detector test is not something I'd put all my faith in. What bothers me with this story is the six guys who were with him. Why the hell would they stick by the same story for all this time? I don't know if the guy was really abducted, but if I had to bet on it, I'm gonna say they saw something very unusual.

  • @Cappufo also if these men planned to lie like this wouldn't they have gone straight to the military to make their story even more credible? Then people say they were on acid. Take a hit of acid then try to drive a truck. Guarantee you'll be hugging a tree.....lol

    This was a suspected murder case. Walton was mission for 5 days. The police took over. There is absolutely no proof they were on acid. The person who stated that claimed his uncle was the sheriff. He was not the sheriff nor was he ever the sheriff. A FOIA classified document showed the military had real problems with UFOs around that area. I work on the RR for a time try and cut down trees with a chain saw on acid.

  • Many are saying Travis Walton is a liar and that all the men were drug addicts even one of them being arrested for drugs one month after Walton claimed to be abducted.If this man were lying #1.He would not wait ten years to write a book #2.This wasnt made into a movie until 1993. People say the towns people hate Travis Walton and call him a liar but wouldn't a liar leave the state? He is tellling the truth.

It should be somewhat troubling that Sank Flake was never the "county sheriff," a rather large error for his supposed nephew to make. Yea he said all these people hated him.   • @Markisagoodboy He wrote a book ten years later about his ordeal. He was fed up with the circus. His family blamed his friends for leaving him there. Travis felt different. Eventually a movie was made called" Fire In the Sky" but what happened on the ship was nothing like the truth. Travis had problem when he was young with breaking the law he changed even before this but his life after this shows a man who was humbled and knew the profound experience he had..

  • am answering all the nonsense about polygraph test. The definitive polygraph test for Travis Walton and three of his friends was done through a skeptic named Jerry Black. He employed the most highly regarded polographer around Cy Wilson. Cy took test on all three of these men they all passed in a 95 to 97 percent range. Cy Wilson's niece wrote me and she said after the test Cy had to rethink the idea that we were alone in the Universe. Don't believe NOVA they have an agenda.

  • @Cappufo I was a believer of this incident until I read a post from a supposed relative of the sherif from the incident that said that there were military aircraft constantly in the area and the lie detector test questions were vague about seeing a light and the main thing I heard was that Travis Walton was getting high at Dallas house the time he was missing.

  • @workman24 That doesn't make sense. Yes it is true they asked when they were polygraph( the friends of Travis) they asked the cops to stay on topic, They didn't want a fishing expedition. Some of them had trouble with the police in the past. The families would not even talk to each other because Travis's wife was angry they left him there. They didn't talk for years. There is no proof that Travis was over his Dallas house but believing that was easier than believing he was abducted.
