  • A newt suit can go 48 hours at depth 300M and deeper if you got the balls. They are constructed of reinforced aluminum, titanium and ceramic, not glass....there are about 6 counter rotating ring joins on the appendages for agility in the arms etc... really kool..

  • why is it so big?? plz anwser back

  • @NuKeteknolagyZ Im not an expert or anything, but I think its because of the pressures experienced the depth that the newt was built for,it has to be able to have its own air supply as well. very cool!

  • so not DIR

    :D

  • this is SO cool.. wow

what is the suits maximum operational depth? and do you need any decompression if it has a steady atmospheric pressure?

  • 300m (1000ft)

    Dunno about the decompression

  • As it is an atmospheric suit, you don't need decompression since the inside of that suit is at the same atmospheric pressure as above water i.e. on ground.

  • I just thought maybe they raise the inner atmospheric pressure to something like 3-4 bars to allow for deeper dives. In which case you'd have to do a little deco.

  • Probably, the NEWT suits have glass-reinforced plastic shells which are good for submersible craft and anthropomorphic suits. I suggest you read Sylvia Earle's book 'Exploring The Deep Frontier.' She currently holds the record for the deepest dive whilst in a JIM suit, which is closely related to the NEWT suit.
