However, I do not agree with most of his free market views because I think regulation is a good thing, both for protection of the consumer and economic justice. I don't think the government is inherently evil, especially in a constitutional democracy, where the people are the government. Actually there are two countries in the world I know of that doesnt have strong central government or at least the central government doesnt have capicity to reach out to the local level. Everything (or almost everything) is done and settled at the local level (*just like Ron Paul is seeking for).
Those two countries are Afganistan and Somalia.

I agree with some of Ron Paul's foreign policy and most of his social libertarian views. However, I do not agree with most of his free market views because I think regulation is a good thing, both for protection of the consumer and economic justice. I don't think the government is inherently evil, especially in a constitutional democracy, where the people are the government. A corporate dominated market can be just as bad as an oppressive government. We just need an intelligent balance.

We will have problems no matter what system we have, including a limited government. The people in power will try to dominate the masses whether through government corruption, economic manipulation or good old fashioned force. At least with a democracy, correctly run, the people have some means to fight back.
I disagree with Paul mainly on free market economics because it is through the economy that the elites hold their true power today, without regulation, well, you see what happens!

Now if instead they let the free market set interest rates, do you think very many people would invest in houses if the interest rates were at i.e. 21%? I don't think so.
