(i) apostasy. The idea of a 'faith' where other humans punish you for doubting it seems awful. Faith is between you, God, and the universe - no one else should get involved!

(ii) lack of recognition in certain countries that capital punishments such as stoning and cutting off of hands are primitive and barbaric.

It all depends how people interpret their texts. Sometimes the histories with bloodshed can be just that - histories. Christianity is based on a bible with many violent actions and wars in Old Testament too, but over long time most moderate Christians chose peace, same as most muslims. Islamic history has some bloodshed due to people living in style of Mohammed,but it doesn't mean all muslims are warfaring! East & west need to be at peace ultimately. I'm an atheist by the way.
