If they didn`t they would not pray, for rain, health, etc. You tiptoe around the question. Why does a loving, compassionate almighty god allow the suffering of the innocent ? People rushing to help, is just evidence that people are basically good. There is no god involved. This supposedly loving god is sitting there, turning his fingers and counting the hairs on our skulls.

So maybe the question is: if man was given everything on a silver platter and given the option whether or not to bring suffering upon his descendants based upon his self gratification, why would he? the ball is in our court.
