This game may have been a loss on the season, but overall it was a moral booster. We may have lost, but we did so with one second left on the clock and only by one. This game proved that Nebraska is closer to becoming a top 10 football team. Our defense is National Championship Material, but our offense really hurts us. Bo is doing a great job and I cant wait to see what we have next season.

Well the rule states that if the ball goes out of bounds and hits anything the clock stops. the ball hit a bench and the clock stopped at 1 then ran to 0, the ref's made the right call. It was a defensive game all night and when Texas plays defense they get ripped at but when Bama runs all over Florida isn't that called a double standard, lets go Texas Hook Em' 24-14!

The penalty use to be for grabbing the inside of the pads and not the shirt. The NFL changed it in 06 to include the jersey collar then College Football adopted it last year.

to answer your common sense question when the third quater expires there is a whole quater left, so therefore there is no reason to adjust the clock because there is more time. If the third quater expired, and there was no such thing as the fourth quater the refs would adjust the clock. There is no reason to adjust something when there is no need to. And it is the right call because it was reviewed and there was evidence supporting the call.

First off, enough Bullshit regarding whether the final play was reviewable or not. NCAA rule allows that regardless of what the Big 12 rulebook says.
Regardless, Texas was still given a phantom PI call that resulted in a field goal in the 3rd quarter. While the final score may read 13-12 and Texas may be the Big 12 champions, that alone does not make them worthy of the title game. In any other season, it would have made total sense for Bama to play Texas. Not this one.
There is no doubt the officials gave the game to Texas. Time ran out. What a farce win. Texas should be ashamed the way they acted and played. Nebraska won.

This game may have been a loss on the season, but overall it was a moral booster. We may have lost, but we did so with one second left on the clock and only by one. This game proved that Nebraska is closer to becoming a top 10 football team. Our defense is National Championship Material, but our offense really hurts us. Bo is doing a great job and I cant wait to see what we have next season.

Well the rule states that if the ball goes out of bounds and hits anything the clock stops. the ball hit a bench and the clock stopped at 1 then ran to 0, the ref's made the right call. It was a defensive game all night and when Texas plays defense they get ripped at but when Bama runs all over Florida isn't that called a double standard, lets go Texas Hook Em' 24-14!

Man, Nebraska was so lucky to be in that game. Kirkendoll doesn't drop that pass it's 17-6 and no way NU comes back from that. Plus the horrible call on the kickoff downing the Texas returner at the one? It kept looking like officials were trying to give Nebraska the game so the Big 12 could double it's money with 2 teams in BCS bowls. Oh well, Texas fought through all that bullcrap.

I suppose the Oklahoma team that Tommie Harris captained was good, but these last few years the entire conference has been characterized by the awful scoring defense. I would give credit to the offense, but these teams aren't performing in the bowl games.

did anyone notice that the referee that was right in front of and looking directly at that tackle didn't throw a flag for a horsecollar penalty? I think it came from a ref in the secondary that was looking at the front of Shipley. How that hell could he tell what Asante grabbed from that view? Looks like the other ref had a perfect view of it and didn't throw a flag.

The penalty use to be for grabbing the inside of the pads and not the shirt. The NFL changed it in 06 to include the jersey collar then College Football adopted it last year.
It was a HC tackle for sure. He probably would have gained another 2-3 yards if he did not do that. Certainly not 15.

im unbiased people towards any teams from midwest or south. i really think that colt kid is overated. he has rude awakening in pros coming. the one td texas scored they started on neb 42. a pass interference helped that score. texas had great field position all night because of nebraska's high school offense. id rather see alabama flordia rematch. flordia had 2 all american defendrs out of the game in spikes and dunlap. they couldnt pressure mcelroy. i think healthy florida is better than texas.

I completely agree and Suh might even get the Heisman.that is also the best defensive player performance i have ever seen too, I might even go as far to say that this is the best defense ever for Nebraska. I am ashamed of our offense. against iowa state we had 8 turnovers, yes 8. and the defense kept score 7-9. I honestly think that if we had a good offense we would be playing for the National championship this year.

However, the Big 12 happens to be sanctioned by the NCAA and they do have a rulebook for football.
Bmcguffie is correct, Rule 12-3, Article 6 on page FR-143 allows correction for "egregious errors". When the fate of the Big 12 Championship rests on mere seconds of play, letting the clock run out when clearly there was a second left fulfills the 'exceptional' nature of that "egregious error".

Nebraska royally screwed up by kicking the ball out of bounds. Texas got many gifts in a row. Bad kick, bad tackle. Somehow never got called for holding and even ran the time out because Colt is a dolt. Yet they still won.

Yes I know that there should have benn 01 on the clock. But ask yourself, if that would have happened in the 3rd quarter, the refs would never have thought to go and fix the clock, so why should they do it now.
There should be consistency, if there was no chance that they would review it for 1 second in the third quareter why should they do it here?

to answer your common sense question when the third quater expires there is a whole quater left, so therefore there is no reason to adjust the clock because there is more time. If the third quater expired, and there was no such thing as the fourth quater the refs would adjust the clock. There is no reason to adjust something when there is no need to. And it is the right call because it was reviewed and there was evidence supporting the call.

this game like many before it and many after it is a reason why a playoff system in college football is the only solution to settling this... just think how much bigger college football would be in a 11 game season, top 16 teams play each other in a playoff format for 4 weeks... take 2 weeks off... national championship is played the same weekend as the super bowl, college bowl on friday, superbowl on sunday..

First off, enough Bullshit regarding whether the final play was reviewable or not. NCAA rule allows that regardless of what the Big 12 rulebook says.
Regardless, Texas was still given a phantom PI call that resulted in a field goal in the 3rd quarter. While the final score may read 13-12 and Texas may be the Big 12 champions, that alone does not make them worthy of the title game. In any other season, it would have made total sense for Bama to play Texas. Not this one.
