As long as candidates are qualified and meet Civil Service, TCFP and AFD standards, then the Fire Chief has the right to choose anyone from that QUALIFIED list to meet the goals of that department. Go look up the definition of discrimination and when you do understand what the motive and spirit of that act is all about.
Any department trying to reflect its community with qualified applicants is not in the same ball park.
Finally, If you are in the same department as Ms. Allen, then please stop tearing your department a part by insulting your sister Firefighter. Attacking your fellow employees and Fire Service members who are working toward the same goal is counter productive and an embarrassment to your department and the city of Austin.

It is clear some development is still in these areas for you to be able to have an intelligent discussion about this topic. By sharing that possibly true information about your cadet class reflects this. Concerning the videos posted about what happen to Ms. Allen, there was a definite purpose and need to have details broadcasted to communicate facts.

I totally agree with you that no one should be hired for a job if they are not qualified. We can move past that, because no one want that. The fact that you are missing, is that there are MANY tax paying citizens that do want to see a diverse fire dept.

Her officer documents everything on shift as a precaution. She sued the dept over another matter that was dismissed and now has a suit against the FF personnally. WOW I just spoke to a Fellow female firefighter that said "thats all she wants is to sue someone and she tried to sue another dept before Austin" Is is a golddiggin pattern?
I hope these things are not true and that you wouldnt defend such actions. I would feel sorry for people having to work under those conditions!! Any way I have only stated what I have hear from reliable sources and FACTS that I know about. Please stop saying that it is my intelligence level and insulting me. At the time of an emergency that may not be the foremost thought, but after the emergency which is most of the time, that is a concern which has been reflected in the establishment of city and AFD diversity goals. Get with the program and be an asset to your organization by supporting its goals and stop working against them.
To answer your question about the screen name AAAFFA you are correct it does reflect the association I have enjoyed working with.
Not sure what you were trying to say or connect by bringing up that association, because their causes are certainly for the greater good of all. If you ever need assistance, they can be there for you as well. Race is not a requirement. I encourage you to try reading up on their mission and goals sometimes.

What happened to Ms. Allen was wrong and no one should have to sit on a floor in a Fire Station regardless of race or gender.
Also your comments and references concerning a protected class reflect your racist uneducated perspective.
Finally, this Firefighter may very well save your life one day, so be careful who you suggest to quit the Fire Department.
