Yeah, the sound was not added. Check out several other wing-suit videos, if they have ground shots, you'll hear the same sound anytime they pass the camera man.
I'd guess it's the sound of an entire human body ripping through the air at such high speeds.
Go outside, pick up a long thin-flexible stick, and wave/flick it as fast as your arm can swing it. You should hear the "air-cutting" sound. Probably the same concept.
I cannot stop laughing at this, the sheer audacity of defying gravity like that!!!
This has got to be the same kind of rush as winning the tour de france, for the fifth time.
it's like kissing God.
I'm sure the jet sound was added, it's warren miller after all. Too bad, the raw sound would have been just as impressive. If you doubt me, go watch a speed skiing event, and when they fly by you over 200 kph, the sound is like heaven AND hell!
There was a jet like sound as he passed the camera at the end. Was that sound added or is it really the noise of these squirrel suits speeding through the air?
@Nu13th no mate. Saw this on opening night and Mr. Miller himself was there introducing the film and taking questions. It was funny because almost every question wasn't about skiing....it was about this guy who jumps out of the plane. That's the real sound of the air rushing past his suit. Amazing.
@SuperRevolutionizer The sound is just before 1:11. It wooshes by in sync with guy passing by. I can hear the chopper in the background but that's a stationary sound. No doppler effect on the chopper at 1:11 but there is a doppler effect on the squirrel suit as he passes. I think it's the suit noise. Thanks for your reply. This sport looks like the biggest adreno rush ever.
Dude!?!? Most extreme and incredible stunt i've ever scene...Ballz of steel. Unfortunately this guys was too ballzy, he died attempting a similar stunt last year :(
no this video is for the people that care allot about their lives. the people that do this give allot for their lives. this is what makes life worth it.
What gets me is the amount of concentration and focus you need to have doing that. One little mistake, one little twitch and what not and you're crashing.
Think of it like the movie "The Rocketeer" -- your head can essentially act like the rudder on a flight like that.
Does anyone know what the music in this video is from?

This isn't "defying" gravity. It's giving gravity a break.

not that its all that important but this is not base jumping. He exited from an aircraft so its skydiving.
BASE is strictly defined as exiting from a fixed object.

I thought it was added, but i was wrong. this is just ridiculously insanly awesome. Were I to die doing this, it would be a life well spent.
xyaqua 1 year ago
@Nu13th I think it's just the flapping of his suit in the wind. At that speed no matter how loose or tight, it's gonna sound like a machine gun lol
