I'm in this video, it was made in the fulton gas works in richmond about 4 years ago. It was fucking awesome. It's kinda on decieving in the vid, as there were no more then 100 people there. It was great, there was a mini concert at the end and we got to explore one of the coolest abandoned spaces i have ever seen.

I love Strike Anywhere cause they are really popular but they still play small DIY venues. I'm really not against RA, but I get bummed out that they only play huge venues and rarely play old songs, and if they do, then its only like one or two. I still can't believe they played a show with Descendents and BAD Religion opening for them. Total blasphemy..

Well, at the end of the day isn't it all about personal opinions? I myself think that their musical style is melodic hardcore, and that their lyrics are punk. But more importantly: I think they're awesome and I love them!
Punk is about ideals, DIY and standing up for what you believe in and yet people seemed so wrapped up in yelling at each other over what genre each band is, calling each other names. Enjoy the damn music and stop bickering, listen to the lyrics. Go to an underground punk show and look whose there, kids with studded leather jackets with patches, but you'll also see polos and people like that. Punk is about the message. Strike Anywhere is punk, not hardcore punk, not hardcore, they are punk.
hardcore is the american version of punk.. it's faster than punk and that's why it's called hardcore and not punk.. still they stand up for the things they believe in just like punk bands do.. sorry for "bickering" but i think of Strike Anywhere as a melodic hardcore band.. their sound is a lot faster than punk... but like i said: hardcore has it's roots in punk so there's a lot of similarities :)

Well, at the end of the day isn't it all about personal opinions? I myself think that their musical style is melodic hardcore, and that their lyrics are punk. But more importantly: I think they're awesome and I love them!

Punk is about ideals, DIY and standing up for what you believe in and yet people seemed so wrapped up in yelling at each other over what genre each band is, calling each other names. Enjoy the damn music and stop bickering, listen to the lyrics. Go to an underground punk show and look whose there, kids with studded leather jackets with patches, but you'll also see polos and people like that. Punk is about the message. Strike Anywhere is punk, not hardcore punk, not hardcore, they are punk.

hardcore is the american version of punk.. it's faster than punk and that's why it's called hardcore and not punk.. still they stand up for the things they believe in just like punk bands do.. sorry for "bickering" but i think of Strike Anywhere as a melodic hardcore band.. their sound is a lot faster than punk... but like i said: hardcore has it's roots in punk so there's a lot of similarities :)

I got an email saying I got a response on my post and I just sighed saying to myself "here comes someone to yell at me and call me a moron." I was pleasantly surprised to find a well thought out, polite response, thank you for that. I agree that hardcore is an american form of punk, Minor Threat for example. I guess when I think of Hardcore I think of a band like Minor Threat or Slapshot, not Strike Anywhere, that's why I call them punk not hardcore =D

seems to be alot of this<ripping our tastes and turning our ideals into a transient adolescent fashion, it used to make me want to cut off my dreads,remove my tattoos,and dress in a suit just so I wouldnt be associated with them ,but I'm 34 and ive been this way for 20 years so i'll just wait it out like i waited out grunge.

i dont care how old he is or if he been at it for 50 years, ive been squatting and traveling most of my life without videos and commercialization and rockstar idols.Maybe i'm wrong, maybe this is bringing something new that will mean something to kids who otherwise wouldnt be exposed,then again, maybe it will take a creative subculture and and change it to commercial garbage...I'm just not that optimistic,and I dont trust anybody trying to do the rockstar thing.hes so cool,i'll get a cleaner too

ok obviously you all are pretty fuckin slow...there is a huge difference between what you guys call hardcore...thats punk...and what the rest of the world calls hardcore...how bout this go to your search bar and type in top 10 hardcore bands...see if this or any other punk band comes up.....short version...hardcore = breakdowns....this might be hardcore punk..but that sounds a lot like saying the smartest retard

even more melodic hardcore bands like modern life is war have more grit than strike anywhere. Punk rock, occasionally treading the line of hardcore. Just my opinion though.

I agree, but Crime In Stereo is definitely NOT emo. And "emo" is not a punk genre...it's a genre that has been so watered down from original "post hardcore" and " pop-rock" bands, hell even heavy rock/hardcore bands. the OG emo bands that matter are SDR and Jimmy Eat World.
Bottom line, this(Strike Anywhere...amazing band btw) is posi-hardcore/mid 90's melodic skate punk(ala Fat Wreck Chords era)
