  • 日本人でも食べれない人多いからむりするなw

  • にほんじんのわたしは、いなごのかんろにをたべられません。よくがんばって、たべられましたね!すごいなぁ(^O^)/

  • I wish that I could fly out to Japan to keep you company...

  • You are so cute! I love the way you speak Japanese.

    You play Kendo, don't you?

  • Hi, I am Japanese.

Grasshoppers are bizarre food for Japanese, eps younger generation, too :)

There is a reason why the people, esp in local area, had to eat grasshoppers.

Decades ago the people were starving, so grasshoppers were precious protein and calcium.

Believe or not, starving is a big social problem in Japan until 1950's.

I appreciate you trying to eat BIZARRE food in Japan and uploading on YouTube.

  • See... eating dog in korea is nothing weird compared to this.

  • Man, you exaggerated way too much. You would react the same way towards chicken if your culture never ate chickens

  • true but come on chicken and grasshopper which one looks better

  • 面白かった 何だかんだで三匹食べてるし笑

    見た目に慣れちゃえば味は問題無いと思うけどね

  • pakkipakki? pikki pikki? non lmao!!!

  • drink some soda to wash it off

  • 変な食べ物をみつけちゃった。

    のほうがいい。

I will eat anything put before me in Japan, save raw horse meat.

  • lol not happa its batta

    happa is leaf

  • kimochiwarui... bleeeeh. haha he said ashi ga otchattta ugggghhh.. hahahaha. come on you can do it! gambaro xP

  • Its not gross to eat grasshoppers. and not only asian people do it. Like I'm Cameroonian and people catch them and cook them in a pot. They taste amazing!

  • I never ate bugs before,..Never had a reason but you people that say its gross have no idea what happened or were your last burger came from.

  • You are as cute as my kindergartners. Who, by the way, as part of one of their school activities, head out in the fields to collect grasshoppers which the school prepares for them to eat later. I did ask the boss about pesticides once... Hmm. I was not reassured by her response.

  • 日本人だけど食べたくない!!

  • Priceless! Palpable... all of it. No need to speak the language at all for it to come across. I was amazed, though, that you ate more than one after your reaction to the first.

You're not only entertaining, you're a braver man than I am. Of course, you're a man and I'm not, too, but that's beside the point. Great video.

  • many westerners are supposed to be christian. no offense to christians but y so squeamish, y shocked at eating locusts?

"Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper"(Leviticus 11:22 NIV).

John the Baptist was known for eating locusts and wild honey (Matthew 3:4)(Mark 1:6).

  • Why single out Christians? Leviticus is in the Torah, isn't it?

  • japooligan, I don't know very many people who take eating advice from fictional literature that isn't even about cooking.

  • i wonder if grasshopper is a proper term. i would prefer locust cuz it sounds like kinda less gross although my english is not good enough to tell the difference.

btw, "ingao" are by no means ordirary grasshoppers. they live on rice paddies eating only rice grass. u know, in japan, anything associated with rice is sacred.

  • even though i couldnt understand a word you where saying, nice video. grasshoppers look interesting hahah

  • hahaha I just did the exact same thing yesterday and also uploaded a video on youtube. heh They're actually sweet...and I liked it, but the fact that I KNEW it was grasshopper...made me not..able..to..eat..more...

  • ill bake u a cake so u dont have to eat grasshoppers (-:P nice hat btw

  • "Ah kowaii yo"

    xD That was cute.

  • inago are just gross because they preserve them in soy sauce, try roasted or dried grashoppers. although from the look on your face you are probably not going to try any more. you are adorable by the way

  • If you want to be featured, I feel you have to finish all 300yen worth of hoppers. haha

  • How do grasshoppers taste? I've seen on game shows how they seem crunchy, but I've never tried any to know.

  • mmmmm sweet crunchy grasshoppers. P:

  • Oh my god,,,

    でも良く食べたね・・・。

  • いなご・・・^^;

  • あああすごいじゃない

  • i ate worms once they sold em in a discovery tore or something

    they flavored them like cheese...

  • I hear they are pretty good with chocolate. I wish I knew what you were saying but from your expressions I think you didn't like it. I think I would like to try one. Man for something you didn't like you have a lot of them. I said enough!

  • Does shaking your head made it taste less disgusting?

  • you only had to eat one to get the point across! I think you secretly enjoy them.

  • Your facial expressions were priceless

  • omg that was gross.

btw, please put up another video in english soon :-)

  • I would never do that lol

甘露煮(かんろに) Inago is one kind of バッタ!!!! :|

  • In Mexico we eat those too, but ours are a little bit smaller. We make grasshopper tacos with salsa and/or lemon. Mmmh! Oishii ;D.

  • Protein, yes?

Yuck, I heard that last one crunch! Ugh!!! You are a brave person...I mean, I like trying new things...when they don't contain an exoskeleton.

  • Grasshoppers? No thanks, I'm a vegetarian. :)

  • Would you make the same sounds if you spoke in English?

  • I think tthhhh haaaah etc are universal for disgust.

  • Don't those come with a sauce or something? Personally, I'm much more inclined to eat peas if they have some gravy on top.

My comment: Lol Clay why in the hell did you put yourself through that ordeal??

  • almost got it! The last word was not what you thought it was...

  • Well what was it? I couldn't hear it cause the sun was in my eyes and the video cut off at the last second, and you muttered it so its your fault!! D:<. Lol jk jk what was the word? :)

  • I had some caramalized grasshoppers when I went to Japan... it... was not nasty but not good... lol

  • Haha, it's amazing that you ate that. Apparently emotions such as disgust are international, because you could tell that the grasshoppers didn't taste good in the least.

  • What how did it taste?

  • i'm pretty sure you'll eat anything.. the japs can trick you gullable people soo easily..

i bet u paid for it too..

  • I know this is a regional thing, but Jap is derogatory where I'm from, so be careful please.

  • yum.

  • クランチ−はカリカリかバリバリ。

    イナゴは、戦争中に食事がない人が、飢えを満たすために食べた。貴重なタンパク源。怖くて自分は食べれない。勇気あるね

  • now those look almost as tasty as the ones Cooney ate.

  • I've been preemptively buggered?

  • that would be correct.

  • This is an outrage. Get out of my country, Tokyocooney!

  • You're daring!

  • could you do some english videos please man, cuz i don't understand japanese

  • I have tons of English videos on my profile.

  • So, how do they taste?

  • Oh is that so, it's a law? lol I love Japanese culture but there are some things that I just cannot get over. I guess its the same way with any culture though. Youre raised to not mind certain things...

  • nevermind, i feel like an ass, it did. its 5am here so bare with me...

  • Hmm... it didnt post my last comment. Odd. I wanted to know why you ate the grasshopper.

  • I wish I could understand what you were saying. I am trying to learn japanese and I can only pick out the occasional word. So, why did you eat grasshoppers? You certainly didn't seem to enjoy it. ugh...

  • It's the law that you have to eat grasshoppers here. You didn't know?
