  • Those kids have the most gorgeous smiles i've ever seen.. They are ADORABLE. I wanna eat them instead of the steam buns! :3 they're so sweet!! *hugs!*

  • Oooh, that's a tough one. I'd say 20-30 depending on how well I divide the dough and how big I want the buns to be. I don't have an exact number. Sorry!

  • @roadiwalked, I didn't expect an exact number. I just wanted to know approximately how many. So the answer is the recipe makes not just, say, one dozen. Okay, 20-30 buns for 3 cups of flour sounds right.

  • The bread of those steamed buns look delicious, but I think I'll try making it with a different filling. How many buns does the recipe make?

  • Looks and sounds like a great recipe. I'd like to try it. But you didn't make it clear how to mix the dough or how long to let the dough rise. Do you mix the yeast with warm water first like most bread recipes? (I'm not using a bread machine.)

  • @stubo65 Thank you for your interests. You can hand mix the ingredients. I'm using bread machine because I don't like sticky stuff. After you mix the ingredients into dough, let it rise till it doubles its size. After that, you roll the dough into a long stick and cut it into pieces, big enough for you to make buns out of them. I usually set the buns aside for another 10-15 minutes before I steam them. Hope this helps!

  • @roadiwalked By the way, during winter, I find it helpful to heat up the oven for a couple of minutes. Turn the oven off and use my hand to feel the warmth. If it's cozy and warm in the oven (not too hot), I put my dough in and let it sit there for 20 minutes, the dough will double its size faster that way.

  • @roadiwalked, that's right, dough is supposed to rise well in a warm (but not TOO warm) place. I've never made steamed buns, but I've made bread before.

  • @roadiwalked, bread recipes usually say to soak the yeast in warm water for a couple of minutes before mixing with other ingredients. Should you use warm water? And do you mix everything at once or mix the yeast and water separately first? Do you knead the dough if you don't use a bread machine?

  • @stubo65 I use warm-hot water straight from the faucet. Never check the temp. When I don't use bread machine, I put everything in a big bowl and start mixing with a spoon as soon as I pour in the water. Mix until you have a sticky dough then gradually add flour and knead with your hands until it forms a nice, big ball. Spray some cooking spray in a bowl, put the dough in it, cover with plastic wrapper, stick it in a mildly warm oven and let it rise.

  • @roadiwalked, you've made it clear now. Thanks!:)

  • good job
