beautiful, thanks.I just seen rodriguez ,&had the awesum pleasure of talking to the sweet man, this was just as touching:).........soon you know I'll leave you & I'll never look behind!
RIP Rene, and yes, he was a natural.I clicked this because i am mourning Heath Ledger, and this just seemed appropriate. Love the vocals on this cover and I clicked it,too, because I had thought that "sugar man" was the only Sixto song done. Shows my lack of knowledge, huh? Somehow, the best are always taken from us,no matter whom they are,be it entertainer of just normal people. RIP Rene, as I had said, he seemed to embrace this,so natural, and so free. Rare quality in a musician nowadays.
i grow up in South Africa in the 80's. can too england in the late 90's and was amazed that the english had no idea who he was..... he must be one of the best in the world...
i also feel proud of my people, white south africans for taking to this music...
I agree - I'm also from SA originally and grew up with Rodriguez - it's a mystery to me why he is not better known internationally. This is also a moving tribute to a friend who has passed on. Respect!
You must be thinking of some one eles--Sixto Diaz Rodriquez is alive and well--he has been in Detroit for over 30 years. His favorite hang out is the Motor City Brewing Works.,Check out the Detroit News August 28, 2008, MY section--complete with photo's and what he is up to now.
Alpena, I was obviously referring to Rene Vandndorpe, the person singing this cover of Rodriguez, who died in a tragic accident. This song is posted as a tribute to him.
Nevertheless, the information about Rodriguez is interesting.
@baselstrasse It's funny you mention your're from SA. Because the friend that introduced me to this music was from SA. Rodriguez should certainly be more internationally renowned. Great music.
RIP indeed. Another safa here, can't quite work out the chord u mean by F# bass? hopefully by the time u reply I would have but great cover too btw :)
