This dude is a bulldozer, yet can break away with the speed that defending players might not expect, as seen in 2:23. Although I am a die hard raider fan, I watched this dude at Stanford every weekend and am always rooting for him when he plays (unless the Vikings and the Raiders meet!). He will be a great replacement for Peterson eventually. In fact, it is almost a travesty that this guy isn't a starting RB on another team.
All i got to say is when he has got the start he produces yards. The 3 starts he has had this 2011 season he has over 100. He might not be the fastest but he is 235 pounds witch is hard to take down.
They needa put toby in more and that rookie qb that got in more. Mcnabb just doesnt have it in him anymore. Next year the vikings could be a good team. For now just get the rookie qb some experience on the field.
@wesmanavus - Really? Mcfadden? This Gerhart has no 40 time. lol I mean not even close. Not even as fast. He doesn't have burst of speed or nothing. He just runs hard and can read blocks and will truck you. That's all he's good for. He's more of a fullback. Anyhow, No comparison. I don't care about McFadden but they are nothing a like. Gerhart reminds me of Meril Hoge or John Riggins. More like a not as savvy John Riggins. Enough said.
@kisulee your comparisons are just as bad as his. Nothing like John Riggins or Meril Hoge except that he is white. Not a fullback, never will be. Is Shonn Greene a fullback? they have a similar running style, both patient with setting up their blocks, both physical. Gerhart runs smart, he doesn't take that much contact like a Peyton Hillis/Jacobs, he uses his power when needed. If you run like a kamikaze your body has a less chance of holding up. Hes more like a Corey Dillon or Eddige George
@kisulee and btw, he did run a 4.5, which is faster than Greene, Blount, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Mark Ingram, Knowshon Moreno, Mike Tolbert, Dexter McCluster, Arian Foster, the list goes on. Not many big backs run under 4.5. All of those guys I named ran 4.6 or slower, except McCluster who is a scatback, he ran a 4.58. Toby had a faster 10 yard burst than Ingram, and people were raving about Ingram's initial burst. There are only two backs in the NFL his size under 4.5, Peterson and SJackson
@kisulee and btw, Riggins was a track champion and a speedster. Most people remember the Riggins from the 80's, when he was 33-35 and two knee surgeries (knee surgeries weren't as top notch as they are now, some players were never ablle to play again). He played with the Jets for a long time with several 1k seasons. Kind of like a better Deuce McCallister, every1 remembers him bein a powerback his last few years after the knee injuries, but hew was a 4.4 guy out of Ole Miss until the knee probs
Why in the world don't they use this guy more? He's the perfect guy to change the pace. Right now AP and Harvin are the only guys defenses are worried about. I realize they also have TEs Rudolph and Shiancoe but they need a third and that threat definitely isn't coming from the WRs.
He runs hard. I think he will eventually get his chance even if its with another team, anyone remember where michael Turner was before the Falcons? He was behind LT with the Chargers. People forget that hes only a rookie and it takes time to get up to full speed, that Bears game looked like he was ready though. Really bad music man cmon, theirs better songs on the audioswap then this.
@lasoogneypubes Mark Ingram who averaged a whopping 3.1 ypc in his debut last week, failing to get crucial 1st downs on short yardage plays, not to mention he failed to get the td at the goal line which could have won the game. Toby won the Doak Walker which counts, I don't understand how Ingram could be the "best college player" but not the best player at his position.
@cfhighlightvideo I don't know, sometimes those things seem rigged. I'm an Oregon State/University of Oregon fan and I remember Toby running over everyone. Just bulldozing everyone like they were children. Pretty embarrassing to watch but pretty badass too lol.
gerhart went to my scool

The vikings need to stop being stupid and wearing AP down... they have another pro-bowler waiting in their backfield
bobman212 1 month ago
This year no doubt he beat Adrian Peterson. AP is the best but has been plagued with injuries

Play him, pay him, or trade him! Gerhart can start for many a team. 100 yards vs Bears this week. Future star.

The only reason you don't get to see the decent speed he has is because he always runs into people so he doesn't get going completly

So who do you pick gerhart or the guy on the cover of madden that plays for the browns?
Trueblue4u22 6 months ago
All they got to do is let him run with the ball. This guy is the real deal, should have won the Heisman.

@GregandNancyW Who won the heisman that year?
