The RAF has way more experience than the Russians and the EuroFighter Typhoon is a much better aircraft than the russians jet. Quality is much better than quantity.
By personnel, USA & Russia are obviously 1 & 2 respectively. However, there is no air force that has as much experience and pilot quality as the Israeli Air Force. The IAF, every single time, has beaten the USAF in air war games and it wasn't even close. The USA & Russia have more manpower but the quality of the IAF (pilots and pilot training) is far superior. I'll take quality over quantity any day.

Too many focus on combat aircraft and personnel, not many focus on cargo planes, electronic strategic surveillance, a few tankers and little helicopters, it should focus more on diversity of planes by mission and roles, tactical and strategical gargo, electronic planes, more of bombers, more of anti submarine planes, more about ground equipment like radar stations, anti aerial equipment , combat misiles and bombs, number of bases, reserves, and number excercices at home and abroad a year.
U.S. Navy is actually second with or without Marines. Marines by themselves would land somewhere in the top ten. Put all US armed forces together and you have a true superpower. As long as the US keeps up this strong military we will never have a world war. I wish that more people understood this. Our strength will keep the peace while the world as a whole will prosper. @damanwidaplans It's not about "siding" - that wasn't the point. The point was that the quality of pilots and their training is FAR superior to the USAF. Yes the Israelis use our equipment but because of the constant state of actual fighting, they have FAR more experience & therefore that is just one of many reasons why their quality is better. Also, Israel isn't trying to drag us into war. If you can't see how Iran is a threat to the US, then you really don't understand the situation at hand.

Iran is a growing power that doesn't get along with the US. that doesn't mean the US will get attacked once they acquire their first nuke. @yago9 The Germans were wiped out because they spread themselves too thin by invading Russia. Also, further into the war they couldn't afford financially to keep up. Yes obviously if it's 150 against 1 then you're done no matter what...but for the sake of putting things in perspective: the US has about 2,100 fighter craft while Israel has roughly 600 - roughly 3.5:1 ratio. If they went head to head (like they do in war games) Israel would win every time (& they have - every single time BY FAR).

Thanks for listing the USAF as number one, but I did note you omitted the legendary F-15 Eagle. This is the baddest combat aircraft to EVER exist, and unlike the new gen F-22 and F-35, it has proven itself in real combat. I believe its battle win-loss count stand somewhere around 120-0. You listed the F-14 Tomcat, which actually belonged to the US Navy and has since been retired. I'd give the USN 2nd place.

I don't know where you get your stats ipostuenjoy but stats are easy to make up. Ben yes it is true that Israel has the same aircraft as the US (in the 70's and 80's). While they also have very good pilots they are also 1/6th of the size.

Too many focus on combat aircraft and personnel, not many focus on cargo planes, electronic strategic surveillance, a few tankers and little helicopters, it should focus more on diversity of planes by mission and roles, tactical and strategical gargo, electronic planes, more of bombers, more of anti submarine planes, more about ground equipment like radar stations, anti aerial equipment , combat misiles and bombs, number of bases, reserves, and number excercices at home and abroad a year.

U.S. Navy is actually second with or without Marines. Marines by themselves would land somewhere in the top ten. Put all US armed forces together and you have a true superpower.
