  • KYLE REESE

  • The truck have started to move!

  • Can't wait to play this on ps3.

MGS HD collection is a dream come true...

  • @Kerbalf lol, this song isn't on it. I'm afraid it's only on the nes one, and the HD collection has the MSX version.

  • @teamstarpug lolidk.

I've played 20 minutes so far, made quite a bit of progress if I do say so myself. Can't remember what music played though. I guess I heard theme of Tara a lot lol

  • Never played the NES version, the music sounds pretty cool though. Theme of Tara gets annoying after a while, especially considering how long that game is -.-

  • It's "Kyle Reese"

  • Metal Gear NES gameplay = SHIT

Metal Gear NES music = AWESOME

Metal Gear MSX gameplay = Good

    Metal Gear MSX Music Decent

  • i always wonder whats with kyle reese on the cover of the game?

  • Am I the only one who thinks the NES metal gear was better than the MSX Metal Gear...? Probably so... I also think the same for the NES and MSX sequels. I usually always like Japanese versions of everything better than US releases but metal gear and it's sequel is an exception.

  • HEAVY

  • they should do a hd REMAKE in 3d of this game.

  • Metal Gear may have it's issues, but it still kicks ass

  • LMFAO I feel asleep XD

  • WTF Triforce on a box in Snake's belt!

  • the MSX version was amazingly superior to the NES version. However the NES version had FAR better music

  • I find it funny the game that started metal gear isn't even really known by the metal gear "fans"

    edit...

    Fuck it im buying a new NES... I miss my old NES im about to cry... ;-;

At least my nerd side is about to cry. My reasonable side wants to kick my nerd sides ass for that.

  • Top Comment should be in favour of the AWESOME ANNOTATION! XD

  • I need a cigarette after this. Good thing I smuggled a pack with me by swallowing it, how else am I gonna see the laser grid or calm my nerves while sniping?

  • if Michael Bane (Hicks and Kyle Reese) was in his late 20's, this would make an awesome movie! They would have to keep the camo like on the box

  • oh i mean 0:45

  • 0:47 It sounds like Touhou there XD

  • "wait what you son of a bitch!"

  • this one was my favorite song from the game:) I think the game was way ahead of its time back then.

  • This one is just as if not better than the MSX version. Maybe not as valid in the timeless music department, but I enjoy just as much as the MSX version. Just because AVGN said something doesn't mean it applies to everyone.

  • @PenguInspiration AVGN was not giving a negative review on "Metal Gear" he was giving a bad review on the NES port. Theres a BIG difference.

  • @MisterHeHeHe That's exactly what I'm saying. The NES version is as good as the MSX version, so just because AVGN came up with minor gripes for it doesn't mean that the NES version sucks.

  • @PenguInspiration Well what AVGN said was true the NES version does suck....the stealth element which the game was about is gone. But there is NO excuse that there is no "Metal Gear" in the game.

The MSX version is also the superior because the graphics are better and has less glitches than the NES version. And the thing with the trucks moving your character to certain locations are more simpler in MSX than they are in the NES version where its random where you can skip something important.

  • @MisterHeHeHe You know that in a funny way that was so much fun ? I enjoyed it as a kid because i using my imagination to feel it ! ''OMG the guard is sleeping (ok didnt knew lot's of gram back then :P) so i was trying to be quite ! It was tooking my breath !!! Fantasy was the best and so those gaming years ! It's just how anyone played the game, maybe liked it or maybe not ! For me it was a blast !!!

  • @MisterHeHeHe

The trucks in the game are not random. Each one has an assigned location. It's almost impossible to completely skip something because most of the items are critical for getting thru. You can backtrack thru the entire game if you want.

  • while MG2SS on MSX is da best of dem allz...

  • I like Avgn as much as the next guy but i don't like how some fans will act like they grew up with these games and say that these games were their childhood and act like they played these games over and over when in actuality avgn simply introduced them to these games even I didn't own this game until 2003 so i can't say i grew up with this game :( unfortunatley

  • xD yeah exactly,...Im feeling sleeping....I feel asleep!! Yes!! =D

  • The first Metal Gear game needs to be remade. I would love to see Hideo Kojima pull this off, since we are getting closer to seeing Big Boss create Outer Heaven. Solid Snake's first mission was one of the important events in the Metal Gear timeline.

  • @xTsuRyux fuck yea id like to see a prequel, play as a young rookie Snake, final boss being Big Boss, and a fight against Gray fox, would be fucking awesome

  • @TheStealth86

Uh, this is a rookie Snake. it's his first mission. If you play the game you find out it was his first mission, and surprise, the final boss is Big Boss.

  • 0;37 is where it gets real good!

  • happy box time bumps in to guard !!!!!!!!! snake: it's just a box ti's just a box it's just a box guard it's just a box snake:phew

  • BIG BOSS HERE. I FORGET TO TELL YOU SOMETHING!

  • The msx version is awesome, the nes version sucked. Even Hideo Kojima hated it.

  • @octagon79 The MSX version was good, but the NES version wasn't THAT bad. It just had a horrible translation and changed 2 bosses. Also the starting area, but I felt that that and the trucks were actually a good addition. Plus, there's a reason why the game was popular in America.

  • well i dont care what avgn said, was one of my favorite games on nes, was very innovative for its time and i loved how you got a sense of exploration, almost like zelda with guns. for its time was 5 outta 5 game

  • I never say I "fell" asleep anymore....

  • one of my favs of all time just wish they had the actual metal gear tx-55 in this game instead of the super computer.

  • love this game

  • This game is fantastic

  • omfg, this is sooo nostalgic <3

  • I FEEL SLEEPY

  • What the hell was the first Metal Gear called? They decided to name them only after MGS, eh? Christ H. God...

  • @thps48 Metal Gear *the machine.

I just read this after 4 weeks. Motherfucker... XD

  • Awesome music for a great game. It had some flaws but it was an unforgettable experience.

  • God bless AVGN

  • I FEEL ASLEEP!!

  • Oh noez! The truck have started to move!

  • One day, they gonna remake this game.

  • the worst metal gear

  • @killamay007 You got to be joking....

  • @killamay007

    Music's okay, though.

  • @killamay007 I think you mean metal gear solid 3

  • y'know this can't really match the feel of MSX but the nes MG had damn fine music. Top notch. Much better than the bulk of their titles.

  • after i beat mgs4 i had to play this game. its bad ass but im stuck on the the part on the roof...

  • @megadeth1818 After you kill the boss you have to backtrack. Petro was taken to building 3. With the new key card you can exit the first building.

  • makes me feel ''sneaky'' *nerdy chuckling* ^^

  • So is that supposed to be Otacon's MK1?

  • You feel asleep!! Great I got 2 options. Punch you from behind or just sneak pass you. Option 1 saves time cause at least you dont need sleeping pills. When you wake up Outer Heaven is leveled by me cause of your bad habits. Look at it this way at least you got paid for the work. XD

  • CONTACT MISSING OUR GREY FOX

  • Uh oh. The truck have started to move!

  • is that Kyle Reese?

  • @mrgamer1

lol yes but i think its more like corp hicks

  • @crowwithacookie And Big Boss is Sean Connery

  • @DBuniversal lmao i always sed if they ever make that MGS movie Sean Connery would be the best candidate , i soooo hope they make that movie like ive been hearing about the movie for the last 10 years 0_0

  • @crowwithacookie

Yes that shot was based off of a picture of kyle reese indeed ^^

Btw GREAT GAMES WITH AMAZING MUSIC LONG LIVE MGS

  • @crowwithacookie

    its gotta be him

  • Let me guess. Because of the AVGN video now every fanboy hate this game.

    amirite?

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl

you hit the nail right there mate

  • @mrgamer1 So so true. But AVGN actually liked the game despite its flaws. You can actually tell when AVGN likes a game or not. At the end of the video, he did state that the game was kind of bad, but at the same time, epic. I, myself actually like this game.

    -kid thunder

  • @mrgamer1 i hated the game long before avgn,

i died on the third screen and never got past it T_T

  • @mrgamer1 Honestly, this game is still fun as hell. In fact, this game is still one of my most played, even after I saw AVGN's review. 4 times.

It's a timeless classic, why won't people accept that?

  • @NintendenOnline Still like the original on the MSX best, if you don't mind.

  • @MentalRaptors Yeah, the MSX version is better than the NES version.

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl Not really. As far as I can remember, with the exception of people oblivious to the MSX original, there has been very high animosity towards the NES version.

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl I love this game. This game is inferior to the MSX release but it still is a fun romp. It's what I consider the easy mode.

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl I don't care what he says this game isn't perfect but it is amazing

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl no is AVGN i really say your play the game first time is really hard take your time for play this game !

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl Its a really great game and a classic ! Can't deny that ! But also has it's issues that on that days , when we were kids NO ONE WOULD CARE !!!! I played that game over and over and love it !!! <3 NES !!!

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl actually i like this game, I found AVGN review funny.

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl nope still love it. the avgn review was funny

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl Grew up playing NES metal gear. i didn't know there was another version until i saw it in a game mag that was previewing psx metal gear solid. This game reminds me of the good days, so i still love it .

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl not necessarily. but the avgn was pretty much right. i played it for myself and the msx version. And the nes has so many flaws. in the msx, when you die, you don't go waaay back to the beginning. the only thing i like about the nes version is the music.

But like i said. it's not necessarily true that just because the avgn said it was bad means all his fans think it's bad. now if they haven't played it for themselves its a different story

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl

The game is still fun to play sometimes. At least it makes me feel nostalgic.

AVGN is retarded half the time. Anyone can pretty much make a review like that for just about any NES game. A lot of them were pretty roughly made by today's standards including the original Mario games, Legend of Zelda, etc.

  • @radicalgarbage02 AVGN is just trying to be funny. He knows this game is good, despite the flaws he listed. I think his review was actually pretty funny. Even avgn himself said he makes his reviews for entertainment, not to be taken much seriously. Good point, though.

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl i was actually in love with this game ! My childhood days went and i was trying to finish it ! Awesome memories ! Loved this theme so much that i had it actually on kasete !!!

  • @WelcomeToTheNextLvl You have to admit, it's a flawed game.

  • UH-OH

THE TRUCK HAVE STARTED TO MOVE

    konami fails translations.

  • I FEEL ASLEEP!!

  • @Soundwav1337 i feel gay

  • looking for a classic game in a shitty game is like digging for gold in a pile of horseshit. -- A.V.G.N

  • yeah my first metal gear i remember watching my uncle playing like 15 years ago

  • Many great songs in this game. I would like to have this on my mobilephone.

    Thanks from this song MRGAMER1

  • The NES-version of the game may not be as good as the MSX-one, but this piece of soundtrack is great.

  • GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

  • "First attempt to contact missing our 'Gray fox.' then try to find the metal gear"

    FTW :3

  • Don't forget the smokes in the car either.

  • That was a close call. Foxhounder infiltrated the enemy several days ago. They have captured him but he is alive.

  • cool.... i feel asleep... xD

  • A masterpiece.

  • This song is the best part about the game.

  • @Mrster

    that's sayin a LOT.

  • the game was terrible, but somehow epic!

  • Even though the MSX version is superior, I still think this song is just as catchy as the theme of Tara.

  • Ok your turn!!!

  • Press pause, silent truck. LOL!!!

  • Attempt to contact missing our Grey Fox.

Then try to find the Metal Gear!

Use frequency 12085 for all communication with me.

    Over.

  • UH-OH! THE TRUCK HAVE STARTED TO MOVE!

  • @WiiFreedom uh-oh my penis has started to load lotsa of cum

  • @WiiFreedom

I FORGET TO TELL YOU SOMETHING!

  • I feel asleep! Zzz Zzz

  • Uh-Oh! The truck have started to move!

  • Guys listen to the track "The Tragic Prince" from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Sound familiar?

  • They aren't very similar at all. They're both written in G minor, that's about it.

The Metal Gear theme has a MUCH more 80's progressive rock sound, whereas the Castlevania tune is more neo-classical oriented (such is the typical style for Castlevania games).

All the best video-game themes are on NES. Castlevania 1-3 showcased Konami's greatest compositions, timeless classics that could never be topped. All of their songs now are written in 4/4 with a droning beat...

  • Yeah, the beginning is extremely similar, to the point where when I first played SotN and heard that song I was expecting it to be a remix of this; the intro is almost identical and repeats twice in both, and the first melody is practically the same.

Both games are by Konami, so it's not all that surprising.

  • someone made an awesome techno version of the piece. can anyone help me find it?

  • It's called My Frequency is 140.85

  • could also be 1st Impressions by Disco Dan

  • That's exactly the one I was looking for. THankxx!

  • yup!

  • Yeah, I'm listening to it!

  • Michael Biehn indeed

  • I know of Megaman (personally I prefer the Megaman 1 music to 2) but yeah I'll take your word for it; like I said, I'm not very familiar with all the NES soundtracks.

  • where did u get this one????

  • I wonder that too..

  • Snake looks like Michael Biehn HAHA

  • That's because in the cover art, he's modeled after him. 'leastways, that's what the wiki says.

  • I FEEL ASLEEP!!

  • I feel asleep xD

  • The BEST NES game ever!

  • Yeah, I think you're right.

I thought about it for a good few seconds, but I'd have to say you're right.

  • Wrong. Absolutely wrong in every way imaginable.

  • That's fine. But you can NOT say shit like "NES pretty much has no good titles, which may be somewhat true."

It is not true, at all. Your opinions are not automatically factual just because you say so.

  • I'm sorry, you're absolutely right, but people do, do that ALL the time irregardless.

    You just did it yourself!

I'm not pointin' fingers though, so let's just all get back to our coffee.

    (What am I talking about??)

  • Finally an NES theme that actually rocks!

  • That annoying 8-bit percussion that sounds something like a low pitched beep is distinct ONLY to the NES; not even the Game Boy. Quite a charm actually.

I'm not knocking off the NES in saying any of that though, its simply true that the NES is very very lacking in any titles with good soundtracks.

But like I said this game has great sound tracks, I mean, this one's just classic.

The only other game that I know of at this time is Excite Bike, that game has some well actually, its all around good!

  • Some NES games had good sound tracks. I mean, Mega Man 3, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Double Dragon heck, even the Batman game had a cool first stage theme.

But some were lacking. Just not near as much as many games these days are, IMO

  • Ya know what that's true, there are a few here and there that you can find with some pretty nice soundtracks.

Speaking of which do you know of the MSX2 Metal Gear titles? (chronology what are they?)

Anyway, thanks for pointing that out those games, there are a few NES games here and there with good tracks.

    Talk to ya soon!

  • I don't know a whole lot about the MSX2 Metal Gear titles, to be honest. Just that they are different from the NES ones.

  • you forget alot of game , Indianas jones and the last crusade , S.C.A.T. and many other

  • Mega Man, Ducktales, Double Dragon, Tetris, Dr. Mario, Kid Ikarus, Super Mario Brothers (all three games), Battletoads, Legend of Zelda... these are just a small bit of choices from the NES library that had great music to the gameplay.

  • I'm playing the MSX verison right now on emulator

and I must say it ten times better then the nes verison.

  • Really?

    What are the variations?

    What's teh game like period??

  • 2 that is.

  • hey its Kyle Reece

  • i love this song for and 8 bit one of corse

  • Hey, do you have the entire OST? i can't find it on the internet, only the MSX Music.

    Thanks.

  • theres no way thats metal gear

  • I'm Getting Sleepy!!

  • I fell asleep!!!

  • *lifts cardboard box and scurries around the corner*

  • FINALLY! Someone uploaded my favorite Metal Gear track! I remember hearing a metal mix of it in Legendary Frog's Metal Gear Crisis pt 1.

  • Classic!
