I just have no words for this movie...it's so good...music is well chosen...actors are great...the whole atmosphere of the movie is just fantastic. Like you maybe already know...music and smell are the most important ingredients for emotion...for feelings...they just combined those two...and voila a fantastic film. I'm only 17 years old...but even a youngster like me understands the emotional value of this film. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen...there are just no words for it.

Those who haven't read the book dont have the right to diss the movie. The book is a lot better than the movie. You better read it before saying it's boring. Of course, if your reading level is below average then there really is no chance for you to appreciate the masterpiece that is Perfume.

I have every right to diss the movie, having not read the book. Because the movie was bad. I'm not doubting that the book was probably quite good, but the movie was not. It was tedious and unrealistic up until the end where it just got very very silly (You killed my daughter, but... you just smell so sexy!). You have to judge a movie by it's own merits, not by it's source material.

Just watched it. It is simply fascinating. I don't remember the last time I was so captivated by a movie. Now I want to read the novel even more! I was told you have to read the novel, because as much as the movie is impressive, it is not exactly describing all the scents, except the visuals, which give you an idea of how it smelled back then.

First time I saw this movie it was a veritable artgasm. I was overwhelmed by the music, the colours, the whole look of it... and the story of course. I read the book later and, unusually, didn't appreciate it as much as the film, but after the second reading it became one of my favourite books for a long time. I realized that the film and book gives you two different experiences - the film, a pure visual one, and the book a great literary one.
