@RunnerRoad69 the sluice box has to have water going through it... Whether that be a river or hose or some other source. So you could dig dry stuff up from somewhere else and carry it to the river.
I am no expert in this, but if I were to give it a go, I would try a little less water flow, a much longer sluce box maybe 10 feet, and many more riffles and various shapes and size riffles.. some small some large, some shallow, some deeper, etc.. find out which shape/size sombination riffles give the biggest payouts and then rebuild with more of that style riffle.
Mas agua! LeTraps need about 2 inches of water running through them for the riffles to really work well. Most people think just a little water will do the trick, but it's the opposite with a drop riffle....... More water will also let you feed quicker. Fun, isn't it? I get mesmerized watching the riffles work their magic!
The rock created an current around it as it went down, causing the material to wash away behind the riffles as it passed down. Hopefully you didnt lose any gold. cool video makes me want to go sluicing!
Classify your material. NEVER let large rocks go down the sluice. They will rob your riffles. Don't believe me, watch the video at 2:05 - 2:11. Look at the riffles before and after the rock. Material was there and then it is gone because the rock stripped the material out of the riffle. ALWAYS CLASSIFY before using a sluice.
I bought the same sluice last summer works great found some gold too. I'm gonna add a little rubber matting in each riffle and at the head of the sluice. may help recover the real fine gold!!
If you are in a deposit that is mostly fine gold it way easier to classify before you run it through the sluice. I retain -100 mesh in my Le Trap unmodified. I work a lot of gravels that carry reallllllly fine gold and no real big stuff. I take the time to screen all my material down to -20. Then clean up every 5g's. Le Traps don't do good being run for extended periods. Clean up is so easy I just do it every bucket.
Thanks for the video. I'm considering purchasing one of these. I hope you've switched to a trowel instead of using your hands. Much cleaner and easier!

@ricktbdgc all of the gold in this sluice box will usually get caught in the first three riffles. There is a lot of riffles in this one.

I bet you already know but pre-screening it makes it easier to pan and also improves recovery.
A scoop makes it easier on your hands to. ;-)
PS. Nice video.
