I just made these with whole wheat flour instead of white flour and almond milk instead of normal milk and it turned out well!! at first I thought it wasn't gonna be good because the flour was gritty and not as smooth as white flour but it was ok. I tried using less dough per ball but when I baked it, it all came out cracked :( So don't think of cheaping out on dough! The few that I made with the right amount of dough came out beautifully!! Thank you so so much! They turned our amazing and yummy
Hello Aeri, thank you for sharing the recipe. I tried it and it tasted good. My only problem is the measurement. Can you please convert them all into grams for all of your cooking?
Oh.. sorry.. it's too much work to convert them all into grams for me.. I know.. there are many internet sites.. that convert different measurement ... So sorry again.
I made the danpatbbang today and it was really nice! however, the dough that i made turned out to be very runny and sticky (yours seems dry and doesn't stick to the hands as you knead).. so i was wondering what might have gone wrong. could you give us any tips on where people usually make mistakes?
i'm suspecting the water and milk were too warm and too much xp
thank you so much! oh and i also used your recipe to make the red bean paste.. :D
Some people told me... different country use different size measuring cup.. are you in USA? That's first thing I can think of your problem... until you get dough.. it is sticky to handle..but if yours is too runny even after you mixed all the ingredients.. and you can add a little bit of more flour...thanks
@LittoBUbbo Im sorry if that comment sounded a bit rude. I know people from Asia have trouble understanding things like Asian-American or double nationalities
@aeriskitchen I am really confused so could you explain something to me? are red bean paste buns Japanese or Korean? I know this sounds stupid but could you explain and if not whats the difference? thanks:)
I don't know which country made this first. however.. not only Japan.and. korea..but also other asian countries like China... and others.. have very similar red bean paste bread.. The way to make the bread might be slightly different..but basically very similar.. i think.. thanks
@isolde749 I don’t mean to offend you. I just want to tell you the history. Bread was introduced to Japan in 16 th century from Portugal. That’s why bread is called PAN (Latin word for bread) in Japan. Soon after Meiji restoration in 19 th century, a lot of western things were mixed with Japanese things. An-pan (azuki bean past bread ) is one example of fusion foods in those days. Other examples are curry rice (from UK), azuki ice cream and green tea ice cream.
@catnip3141 Thanks:) some of that I didn't know, also didn't the Dutch people bring alot of influence over to Japan? like food wise and somewhat culture wise? Because I remember reading a book and it said something about the Dutch introducing beef to Japan and the Dutch are pretty famous for their bread and pastries:) yum
@isolde749 You are right. In ancient time, Japanese were among un-civilized pacific islanders. Civilization and people came form China and Korean peninsula. As Japan modernize, culture and technologies came from Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany and US. Even today, Dutch loanwords are used. Music box: Orgel, orugoru. School rucksack: Ransel, randoseru.
your son Bryson is adorable, so cute to see him in the video taking the dough - wanting to do what mommy does.... many blessings to you and your family
Thank you very much for this recipe! I made some with my grandma yesterday. We made some with, and some without, the pattern; we also steamed some of them, and they turned out very good. They taste great as is, and on cold days I put them in the microwave for about 35 seconds. Subscribed! Hope to try more of your recipes!
Aeri, when you're making the 3 holes in the dough, and placing the sugar, yeast and salt. Are you putting all 3 ingredients (sugar, yeast and salt) together in each hole? Or just one ingredient in each hole.
@Babybobgirl I brushed my pot-pies with egg mix and baked it under the oven for approx 45mins (pot-pies take s a long time to cook) and it left me a beautiful golden color. I'm pretty sure 20 mins will give ur breads a nice golden touch =D
@ch0bitsm3 Thanks very much ch0bitsm3 = ) yes, I was wondering about that as I usually use egg mixture for pie crusts too...but guess just worried that because this bread=smaller+less fat than pastry, may burn under the same temp?? : / ? but 20min sounds like a good idea! = ) yes will defi.try&let you know = ) Thanks again, :)
I tried this recipe this weekend. SO delicious! My American friends, however, thought red beans were the red kidney beans. NO! The Asian Azuki red beans, much more tasty. Thank you so much for the recipe! I enjoy watching your videos. So relaxing.
aaww that's so adorable audience request to watch more of bryson lol ...that looks so yumi ...Do you know how to make walnut porridge?? If so ..Could you please make a video??
Oh, Bryson is sooooooooooo adorable. And, Aeri, that bread looked sooo good. Soooooooo good. Am wondering, though, if red bean paste is a bit of an acquired taste. Honestly, I wish I lived near you. I'd always be finding an excuse to drop by for dinner. Thanks for the recipe. I'll have to do it with rice flour, though. But it looks so good. Thanks. And happy new year!
