  • love switzerland

  • thank you for the great experience!

  • Seeing your shadow on the ground like that is nifty.

  • You Sir just gave me an eyegasm.

  • Hey Halvor, you are the one who have found this line? Great famous crack from Swizzerland, can you belive that Jeb Corliss said recently on a tv show that this place is a secret one, he had some footage flying your line.

  • Thanks for this! I was wondering how you guys approached a gig like that.

  • good work, insane but great shots man. Stay safe and keep filming.

  • You need to be pretty rich to get in to this sport... I looked up the costs for everything you need to skydive and it totaled to about $5-6,000 for the good stuff. Plus a extra $1500^ for a wingsuit... T_T anyonw want to give me there gear..? =D

  • @1Deejay7

plus the cost of all the skydives you need to be a good pilot. Plus all the traveling. I dont know your definition of rich, all my money goes into this sport. Everything else is low budget. If i'd make more id do more, if i'd make less i'd do less or stay more in the local regions. I wouldnt say you have to be rich, but you need to work hard and make hard priorities, so id rather say it boils down to who much you want it.

  • @HalvorAngvik You guys inspire man i watch your videos every day. Thanks for uploading them

  • @HalvorAngvik how often would you say you jump?

and... how do you get to your jumping point, do you climb or are you airlifted?

  • @DarkstarNovembr

Its mostly just mountaineering, you might get some steep and exposed hikes/climbs for some exit points, but most exits its just steep walking and no technical stuff to get up. If I'm using a heli, it is to drop over a line where there is no exit from the mountain.

  • @1Deejay7

most people live 60+years and never experience a moment half as real as this. Don'y let the cost stop you. I'd rather dies in the sky then in a bed.

  • @1Deejay7 No need to be rich if your doing it because your enjoy in that.. dont look on that like on the bye the way thing... it's not only flying it's about lifestyle

And im gonna be a wingsuit pilot !! Just need to end my last school year and get a job

  • @Isusovomagare u will be trained by top man -> robi then ^^ pozz in cro

  • @1Deejay7 I was in this sport for years and I was a camera man at a dropzone making less than 25k per year.

  • @1Deejay7 QQ

  • amazing flying....fantastic scenes!!!

  • is this shot with a helicopter?

i just can't believe it was a winsuit jump:)

  • amazing

  • can anyone tell the name of the track in this video?

  • @richtpop

    Its in the video description

  • @HalvorAngvik .cheers for that.keep up the mad work

  • @richtpop Junkie XL - Youthful

  • @richtpop Junkie Xl, youthful. Such a dope track.

  • Comment removed

  • @richtpop the crack Swiss

  • its awesome how amazing and beautiful the world can we when its not littered with shit!

  • In wich place was made the video??????? It´s very beautiful

  • @acdcalfa

    Switzerland :)

  • Wow

What a gift it is for viewers like me to experience this from your videos.

Thank you soooo much for bringing us into your world.

    Awesome site.

  • over how long did u do all these runs?

  • @Fixiefag

2 days of perfect weather and busy logistics :)

  • superb.....can you tell me the name of the track

  • Hi Halvor, you've probably answered the question already, but i felt lazy :P

    Where is this line ?

Hope your next video is coming soon, i'm impatient to see it :D

  • Did Jeb corliss do this line befoire or after you?? Are ye mates? or is ther competition there?

  • @DazaPk

haha, no, its no competing. Neither did the line first, that was a frenchie.

We took Jeb there, so we'are even on the crack :)

  • @HalvorAngvik even though, he got a lot lower into the crack?? :P Na im fucking with ya !! Fair play, I intend to wingsuit one day but my country, Ireland, sucks for getting my basejumping numbers up !!

    Thanks for the reply

  • @HalvorAngvik

    Hey Halvor,

you did an amazing job - respect! Not many guys out there could do that line.

You said that a "Frenchie" did this first, but the locals say that it was Schellenberg and legendary Gegenschatz... so, who's right, who's wrong? ;-)

  • @MirekManillo

I honestly have no idea. We just watched the frenchie's video and desided to go there. I'm not saying he opened it, I'm just saying its the first video i watched from someone flying the crack.

  • what do you mean by line ?

  • @wazza918

the "path" you choose to fly over the terrain, like a line you choose to ski down a mountain.

  • @HalvorAngvik what camera are you using for these shots?

  • @nmg196

sony cx-105 with two different types of lenses. One SD .6 lense, on the first ones and a .3 ultra fisheye on the last ones.

  • Halvor, to call your video insanely inspiring would be an understatement, thanks for sharing! Is this jump in Norway? and I'm not sure if it's the same place, but do you know where the very last line is in the new PF video 'Need For Speed'? When he's buzzing the ground carving around the trees?

    Thanks so much.

  • @philosoful

no, this is in the alps. The locals wants to keep it low profile so im not shouting it out on the world wide web, though you might find the answer in some comment here.

The same goes for the other one im afraid.

  • does any one know the age you have to be in australia to do this and how many jumps you have to do before you can upgrade to a wingsuit?

  • @jimmyelmer7

No regulations in base, only common sense :)

Start skydiving and have fun with that. That is usually 16 /w parents approval or 18. Through that you will most likely get to know some basejumpers and thats how the knowledge is passed around.

How many skydives you need to jump a wingsuit in aus, i dont know. but its usually around 2-300 and some coaching jumps.

  • @HalvorAngvik thanks also how do u get to the top of all these mountains you jump off. do you climb or hike or get a heli?

  • @jimmyelmer7

Mostly you hike from the bottom in norway, but some places you can drive parts of it on mountain roads. In the alps its alot of mountain roads and gondolas, so there you can find some shorter hikes.

I do helijump as well, but generall only for lines you cant fly from the mountain. Helijumping is skydiving, not basejumping :)

  • @jimmyelmer7 cool thanks:)

  • Quality-awesome and inspirational! you are a true technician. well done sir! stay safe always :)

  • I didn't see this one. It's just awesome as usual. Qua-li-ty !!!

  • @LaBriquevolante

sorry about your comment, i was cleaning up my own replies and deleted yours :)

  • @LaBriquevolante

    Thanks :)

The first seconds you don't have any or much air to fly on, so if your launch is bad you will continue in that projectory until you have air resintance and can fly out of it. Head-low exit going into head-over exit is dangerous in a wingsuit. You will move fast against the wall and your restricted arms will make it more likely that you cliffstrike if you open with a 180 heading. Thats why you should learn proper base exits and procedures before you go wingsuit base.

  • @HalvorAngvik

If everything goes to plan, and you plan on flying away from the wall and pull high, you can say wingsuit is safer. You are also less affected by wind conditions as you will open right over your landing area.

The problem is when things don't go as planned. Then your will need all your base experience, to get out of the situation...and to avoid it in the first place. So starting with tracking from a big overhangig wall, before you jump a wingsuit is strongly recommended.

  • Do you have any diversion plans when noticing that you are coming in too low? Or is there anything you can do if you notice that when wingsuiting?

  • @rherlitz

Not when you realize that you are too low, then you are too low :)

If you notice well ahead you can usually turn to the side of the object your are diving for, or pull. You allways have a plan b when you fly proximity over something. Also, you should set up in a way that you have to dive from your point of no return, to the object you are aiming at. That way you have reserve and can pull up if you miss judge slightly.

  • @HalvorAngvik Thank you. It's very impressive to say the least. With popularity gaining, it feels like a lot of crazy people would accidentally come in too low and end up a wet patch. *s*

Förhoppningsvis kan alla hålla samma höga nivå som er!

  • @rherlitz

That is exactly the reason i put out this video. To show that we are approaching gradually. Normally the videos just shows the final lines, but the reality is that you try and fail before you find your line, and if you don't plan your jumps with possible outs just because you've seen some guy fly a line on youtube, you will end up as a wet spot one day.

  • What GPS are you using ?

  • @ponyoumpoko

Wintec WBT-201 /w paralog software for analyzing.

  • Quick question(s) and by no means do you have to go into great detail:

    1. How many skydives did you have before getting into BASE? (roughly)

    2. How many skydives/BASE jumps before getting into wingsuit flying? Wingsuit proximity flying? (roughly)

    3. Is the amount of "skill" needed to execute a line such as the crack something that is attainable for every BASE jumper, or is it like a conventional sport in that no matter how much one practices, the skill may never come? How attainable is it? thx

  • @Parker739

about 300 skydives before the first, then 500 before i started wingsuit flying. did about 30 solo GPS wingsuit jumps where i only practiced base relevant stuff, and made a list of exits to do the progression "right".

Question 3 is hard to answer without detail, and i dont want to give advices over the internet. The mental part is the most subjective variable i'd say, and the dedication you put in to progressing. base is 2-3 hours walking for 1 min flying, so it takes time to learn:)

  • @HalvorAngvik , Thanks and many blue skies to ya

  • Do you take a heli up there? How did you learn to base jump? Great vid by the way!

    Cheers!

  • @Skydivingkittens

In norway you generally walk from the bottom. In the alps you have quite a lot of infrastructure to take you all or parts of the way. Gondolas, trains and mountain roads.

The learning process never ends, but i started to basejump with one low jump and then the first jump course in Kjerag. After that i had made a progression plan for the rest of the season and for getting into wingsuit base the next season.

  • The Crack is one of the most insane lines out there.

    Blue skies, man.

  • Relly nice vid man, awsome idea to show the progression in flying that line. Never thought that you can get across that plateau so high when i saw the vids of the frenchmans.

    Want a vampire too :-)

  • @LBFflip

hehe, its actually done with phantom's as well. Its not a very tough glide to get over there, but you need a good flight.

I wanted to see the steepnes and the turn in the crack before i went into it, and i thought it was a good idèa to show that not everything is done on the first try. Keep it safe guys :)

  • @HalvorAngvik

So by the way... how far could you get from high nose in direction of the campground (as a reference) to know that you are flying your suit well in terms of glide? I´m using the P2, yust asking u because I think you will know :-)

  • @LBFflip

oh, i would'nt really know, i have never jumped the high nose without turning instantly left or right and stick to the wall. Also, i have only done couple of jumps from the high nose with the v3 and that was before i found the sweetspot, so i would have to calculate the glide with google earth and compare it to my GPS data. I guess pulling over the camping would be somewhere in the range 3,2-3.5 to 1?

  • @LBFflip

You can check out my "basejumping in lauterbrunnen" vid, i fly the phantom there, or even better, the kjerag vid if you have tried to fly to the camping from smellwall. Im quite sure i could get to that plattau with my phantom, so you might get some references from that video.

  • Sweet! Il fly that route one day, until then il keep watching you do it!

  • The boss

  • how many jumps do you need under your belt before you can even buy a wing suit?

Honestly i could see myself giving up everything to learn to fly like this.

    Awesome video

Id go to the sperm bank first though.

  • @submelon8

Its a general recommendation to have around 2-300 skydives before you start base jumping of terminal walls. That doesn't mean that is the case for everyone. The important thing is to have good control when flying your body in the air, and good canopy controll skills.

First you start basejumping without a wingsuit, then you will figure out when you are ready for progressing into wingsuit flying. If you give up everything to learn it, it shouldn't take to long :)

  • It´s the same line of Jeb Corliss' recent jump....

  • @adrmartinez1

I should know, i was there, and neither was the first. It has been flewn before this season.

I didnt say I found the line, and i wont name the one that did.

I posted the video to show how my approach was and to show that not all the proximity footage you see around youtube is made on the first attempt.

  • @HalvorAngvik I know, i´m not criticizing your video...it was only an additional comment for those who want to search where is the place... :D

  • Amazing place and flight! Great!

  • Mate, this is really, really, really amazing stuff. Great to see your progression and techniques!

  • @Chil1i

    Thanks buddy

  • dude this is so sick. I've managed to kill a good hour watching the clip at my desk this morning :-) Look forward to your next clips. Stay safe

  • @etma01

nice, just make sure i dont get a invoice from you boss for time spent :p

  • Sykt!

  • EPIC flights:)

  • amazing vid :)

    whats the song name?

  • @jak470

Thanks, the song is Junkie XL - Youthful

  • Awesome dude! That line is so sick.

  • where is this place pls ? amazing !!

  • @Iv4nk0

The locals dont want us to talk to loud about it, so im not posting it in public.

  • Damn good job!

  • Utrolig bra Halvor!!!! :-)

  • Amazing to see the process you go through to get the line dialled.

What equipment do you use, Wingsuit, Rig, camera, lens, mountings etc etc

Also, were you getting a heli up to the locaion?

    Awesome footage :)

  • @frenzy2125

I experimented with some different lenses. On the two first jumps i used a SD .5 lense with polarisation filter, but with the filter eating up half of the image i wont do that again. The 3 last jumps i used a HD opteka .3 ultra fisheye. The camera is a cx-105. Rig is hybrid with a trango and the wings are Vampire 3.

I also have lots of different gopro angles, but thats for another time :)

You dont use a heli to get up the mountain :)

  • @HalvorAngvik Thanks for the reply.

Few more questions if you don't mind... : /

How many of you were jumping?

How long was the hike up to the exit?

Do you plan on going back to this location again soon?

Look forward to seeing the rest of the footage :)

    Stay Safe!

  • Nice work Halvor !!!

  • Wow how many time did it cost to do all the researches + the 5 Jumps? Guys I got a question that I was wondering about for some time, why not use BASE Gear in Skydiving? If I understood all right BASE gear offers you more Freefall Time, faster openings and better Canopy Control and there are also Containers with Reserve so why not use it as standard Canopy?

  • @champheiler ... cos they're WAY too friggin slow champ... do yaself some research on the RAM-AIR parachute system and you might understand

  • @ukbasepirate Thanks Pirate Okay I understood that the BASE Canopys have lower Glide ratio and react slower to little control inputs but isnt it still better to have a better opening Canopy with more Freefall time? I`m a little bit confused about that :) A second question what is safer BASE or Skydiving Canopy? Basicly i would suppose the Skydiving but I`m not sure.

  • @champheiler I gues you don't jump... if you did you would know that Skydiving is regulated by associations in each respective country... and the rule generally you must be under a fully open Main canopy by 2000 ft... so you have time to deploy the reserve if there's a problem... simple logic. in BASE there are no rules... do whatever you want... open as low as you like... ... you are on your own... this is why we use the 7 cell low aspect ratio canopy... packed to open fast.... loaded @ 0.7

  • @champheiler good point .

  • way to go, man!

  • Comment removed

  • Heftig!

  • @JumpTeigen You can say that again :)
